Any Feb MR on here?? My scan date is the 7/02 and still not heard anything 😩😩😩

I'm 03/02 for MR. I called on the 11th of this month and it still wasn't with a DM. I've got a feeling we are headed to tribunal.

I'm finding it tough as I'm not really sure what he 'should' be entitled to, but in my head I think he deserves HRC (hes not old enough for mobility). It's hard to find a comparison as to what others with similar cases have been awarded as his is physical disability/conditions rather than ASD/LDs etc which the vast majority of claims here seem to be

not sure if you have used/ looked at following but I found it really useful for backing up my COC

it’s the decision makers guide and details what should be awarded depending on conditions & also states length of award which should be given xx

I’m 29th Jan MR, I’ve not called so don’t know if it’s even with a DM.
I did read somewhere that they are now giving out a 30-35 timeframe on MR’s

Thank you, that is useful!

It doesn't state what should be awarded for my sons condition, but it does state it should be awarded to age 8.

I’m 13th Feb. I’ve seen some people still waiting from Jan which is crazy isn’t it. I would say from my obsessive (!) looking on fb etc that it’s prob between 28-30 weeks. I’ve seen a few done before and a few after but on the whole it looks like the majority of people are don’t by around the 30th week now. New claims seem to be way quicker now tho!!

Bossingit67 · 23/08/2025 11:28

Are done by 30th week I meant !

Omg my nerves can't take another 3 weeks 😂 so frustrating xx

Devilindisguise1979 · 23/08/2025 12:27

Takes over your life doesn’t it, as if the wait for the new claim wasn’t bad enough, you have to go through it again for a MR!
don’t think my nerves could take the wait for a tribunal 😆

NC scan date 12/06

originally rang for forms in January, resulted in DLA “losing” forms when posted back in February. Resent the forms to me on 02/05.

FINALLY it’s our turn🥳Just received the text message this morning that my little boy has been awarded! Couldn’t be any happier. Will they tell me rates etc if I ring on Tuesday? As I’d like to start the whole UC ballache asap🫣

NC sd 21st July im in for the long wait. Letrer recieved up to 15 weeks 👍 goodluck guys

New claims are a lot quicker at the moment, they seem to be in June already and a lot of people are finding out their decision way before 15 weeks, if they request additional information or contact someone like the school, gp etc it can take abit longer, good luck

For high rate care you need to be giving care for majority of the day and for prolonged periods at night

Thanks. It's hard to judge with his age, as he's only 15month, so naturally his care is 24/7. He is catheterised every 3hours, he is non mobile/weight bearing, and needs to be aided to sit. He has recently got a frame to hold him in a 'standing' position, which he can't be left unsupervised in.

He's on a bipap ventilator overnight and a sats monitor. He hates it and regularly rips it off so we are up and down overnight putting it back in place.

Not sure if that will be enough for them for HRC but we will see i guess! I would be happy with MRC, as that would provide enough to get him a session each of private physiotherapy and hydrotherapy per month

It can be sometimes difficult getting HRC or any award for a child so young, but If hes on bipap at night he should be getting HRC as youd have to keep an eye on stats ect? has he already been awarded a lower rate?

Yes, he was awarded LRC in January based on needing an hour of additional care per day, but we stuck the MR in as felt that his additional care is quite a bit more than an hour.

We do appreciate that its tough to demonstrate extra care needs with him being so young tho!

Hi new claim sent 21st July they claim received 1st August.

Lots of evidence sent inc diagnosis, ehcp (1:1 at all times and son is 13).

Query re mobility ? He had brain cancer in 2023, surgery left him with hemiplegia and ataxia, he was wheelchair bound, then walking stick.
He "can" technically walk however cannot walk in a straight line, can't walk for 50metres safely (prone to falls and walking into things as his balance is way off he pretty much walks like ges had a few pints all the time - imagine this walking next to roads etc ) and the effort he has to use to walk is huge so he tires easily making it then really difficult for him to lift his left foot (he can't jump/run as the nerve/reflex doesn't work). He has a blue badge and access card inc +1 queuing and toilet.

First time applying as soooo much going on for first 18month since diagnosis.
He needs 1:1 supervision at all times due to mobility and safety, has extremely low processing speed (lowest 5%) and doesn't have the executive functioning skills or physical coordination to do basic tasks you would expect a 13yr old to be able to do.

Anyone got thought on mobility section?
He doesn't really fall neatly into any area.
We have a long wait based on info here.

@itmustbe Really sorry that happened to your son and your family..

Your son falls into the virtually unable to walk category for HRM.

The hemiplegia which is one side isnt it so that's physical and the ataxia which is neurological and impairment in coordination which is muscles but depending how this affects your son it's also the gait abnormalities speech eye movement ect for virtually unable to walk walking ability must be significantly restricted due to a physical disablement this includes severe discomfort when walking, limited walking distance, unavoidable episodes of refusal to walk due to pain or exhaustion.
He definitely qualifies for HRM under VUW but that all depends how you've worded and described it all on the form obviously you've wrote here " he can technically walk" Do not write that on your forms, I'm guessing you just wrote that here to try and explain.

Good luck keep us updated 🤞🏼
