Hey, new to netmums and this thread. New claim scanned 10th June for both my children. 10 year old and 2 year old. Not feeling too confident as completed forms myself. Following along this thread as the waiting is so tough!

Hi thank you for your reply, he does not have his ASD diagnosis yet he is currently on the pathway and will be seen before January 2026. OT report states can not be left on his own both in school and out off school. ADHD report backs up this regarding behaviour issues. also other reports state he acts impulsively and is a danger to him self and others when out. I have signed a form in school stating they can retrain him if needed.

He is 9 so going into year 5 in primary school. Currently can only cope in school 2 hours a day. He can only do afternoons as school is not safe for him to be able to play out until new fences have been fitted - I was told this would be 2 weeks from 9th June still no new fences 😤

Hello, apologies i assumed from the reports he was secondary school age, I can find your initial comment now but I'm sure i read he jumped the school fence and they followed him to nans house? And he's 9 😱 where was the schools safeguarding if he managed to climb the fence and they didn't catch up to him on the roads.. I guessing that's why the risk assessment has now been updated and he's only doing afternoons.. The school have a duty to offer alternative education for the mornings through the alternative provisions at your local authority if they haven't made the fences safe as yet, but anyway you was asking about HRM it's not impossible to get HRM through smi with an ADHD diagnosis only but usually these cases are taken to tribunal and won. It's because you have to prove the first marker of arrested development of the brain or incomplete development of the brain and usually to satisfy this marker it's ADD or ASD or genetic conditions ect, but like I say ADHD is recognised as this also but it's harder to prove, also there's a difference with restraining the child to prevent the child running away and restraining the child to prevent violence against others or themselves. So you would need to give examples of extreme violence or harm that needs another person to watch other the child whenever they are awake to stop them hurting themselves or others, also the impaired intelligence part would need examples to from yourself and professions, what you've uploaded does show impaired social functioning though. Is the child on HRC?

KCYA · 18/08/2025 14:44

MR scan date 26/02. I found out a decision had been made on the 01/08 when backpay had entered my account. Award changed from MRC to HRC which is what I submitted the MR for.

Just wanted to say thank you to those on the previous thread who told me to submit a complaint as my children’s details were taking really long to be verified on UC. After waiting 4 weeks for my daughter’s renewal details to be confirmed (she also went from MRC to HRC) and 2 weeks for my son’s MR, a DM called me today.

They were lovely. Addressed my complaint, submitted the necessary letters via my journal and told me that my backpay of nearly 3K would be in my account by 8pm tonight. Backpay came into my account whilst I was still on the phone with them

I don’t have the @‘s of the posters who recommended I complained but if they’re still watching the thread, thank you!❤️

Good luck all

I have just received my response in the post, basically says the haven’t overturned their decision and it will now go to court 😔

Have they have specific reasons why they feel the child isn't entitled to it and why they are upholding their decision?

PositivityRipples · 18/08/2025 14:52

Any awards today or over the weekend? For MR or COC

thank you for your reply, yes you did read it correct he is 9 and jumped over two 14ft fences and he ran away to his nans house that’s 10/15 minutes away across main roads etc, when I got to Nan’s house the teacher that was following him had lost him as she did not see where he went when he got in the street.

he is not on any type of DLA at the moment my NC SD is 2nd July 2025 so I have a long wait ahead of me I have sent extra information into them today with the reposts I attached on here.

i have been told to look into section 19 with the LA regarding his education and I have also started the ball rolling for his EHCP but that’s an other long wait.

Mumtuc75 · 18/08/2025 15:39

MR (SD 30th Jan) just had a call from DM, they need to refer to their medical team for guidance. Is this common? I’m hopeful it’s a good thing.

Littlegemx · 18/08/2025 15:52

Hi guys,

NC/ SD 9th may.

I phoned today for an update and was told a decision was made last friday(15th) we haven’t received a text as of yet. Is this normal? Does this mean they’ve decided not to award? They just said to wait for a letter which will be between 7-10 working days? I was under the impression they cannot give the decision over the phone too…

I phoned up this morning as I had a pending payment in my bank and wanted to question what it was as I have 2 children and she had a look for me and told me the dates it was decided the rates and when it's until. So some if the advisers are really helpful on the phone others not so much. But I pressed option 4 for all other enquiries I think it was.

Mumofthree1989 · 18/08/2025 16:06

I’ve just got off the phone to them regarding the wait times for COC. She said it’s taking 28 weeks but they’re not giving out time scales atm as it’s going over the 28 weeks. I have told them I have contacted my local MP but she didn’t have much to say about that. Except that the COC and now also her renewal will be looked at mid to end November 🤦🏻‍♀️
