IV called this morning and they have verified kids again! Do u know what happens now they already verified them now this has been done twice with no further information from them I'm getting annoyed now x

I can't really remember i think you have to ask for the back payment to be dated from when your DLA was scanned they will send you a message it basically says they will make a decision due the changes not being done straight away but that's normal as you were waiting for a decision from dla then they will send you another letter saying what they owe you but I had to ask for the back payment of carers element and had to ask for back payment of child disability but you will only get the child disability if the child has been awarded high rate care. Hope that makes sense

@Peaches10 hello just to say that's incorrect you've said " you will only get the child disability if the child has been awarded high rate care.
That's incorrect
There are two disabled child rates of uc

One rate is for low rate and middle rate care disabled child element
The other rate is for high rate care disabled child element.

Hi, so I’ve just received the letter saying how much they owe me, somehow I’m still only entitled to benefit for my 2 oldest even though it is my youngest receiving dla, so I get the disabled child element part for him but that’s all. they told me how much I’m owed and said it will be paid within 2 days if that helps 🤷🏻♀️

That's correct they will only pay disabled element for the 3rd and not the child element.

Hi, my claim was also taking a really long time to get verified and get the back pay, I kept trying to send messages via journal but they were ignoring me, so I sent a complaint at https://makeacomplaint.dwp.gov.uk/ and I got my back pay 2 days later.

Edited

Thank you! And to the rest of the posters who said that they’ve done this, that’s incredibly helpful to know

So frustrating isn't it and i wouldn't say i sent loads just 5 pages of evidence and then a written MR which was quite a few pages long, how many did you send?

I did keep sending lots of it each time I had updates from CAMHS etc and night time diary.
lets just hope they go through it all 😭

Oh really ? I was told that you get the carers element for 1 per adult on the claim per child. but to get the child disability element on UC it was only for high rate care. That's interesting I was actually told this by the lady who did my DLA claim first time round she phoned me to discuss my claim and told me what my little one was awarded and it was her that told me to do the UC as I had. I idea I needed to even do anything on that side.

Flowers90 · 05/08/2025 17:13

Just about to complete our change of circumstances was awarded LRC only.in jan. Since been diagnosed with DCD on top of all her other issues, we have therapy targets to support with at home and other input has increased too. Diagnosed with NF1 with large plexiform mass. Daily behaviour challenges. Taking hours to get her to allow us to help with daily care such as shower/bath. She has to have one daily due to skin issues from her MEK Inhibitor. Refusing to walk when outside, laying on the floor saying shes a snake. And pretending to be other animals at home throughout the day

Just jumping in, MR - scan date of 25/04 still a long wait id presume.

So if you have more then one child on high rate care do you qualify to get the disability element for each child or is it just for one ? I understand you can only get carers element for one parent. I'm just curious if you get it for all children or just one.

You can have multiple children on high rate care and receive the DBE hope this helps x

@peaches Carer element you can only claim once.
Disability child elements are for each child in receipt of dla.

I've wrote the amounts in my previous comment x

Sorry to jump in, when you call them which option did you chose? I've been waiting for quite a long time too for NC. I will call them again tomorrow.

Have any may new claims been done yet? My SD is 19th May I phoned for forms on 14th April. I sent 2x Speech and Language reports, ASD assessment referral acception letter, medications for toileting, medications for sleep, aids and adaptations list, sleep diary, day diary, sensory difficulties list, IEP, and various consultation notes from DRs. DD is 5, do you think we have a chance? Hate the thought of possibly having to do a MR.

For anyone who’s waiting for a renewal, renewals are being completed just before the end date.

My 4 year old’s renewal was received on the 11/04. Claim ended on 20/07 and it was looked at on the 18/07. She’s gone from MRC to HRC, back pay should be expected soon. Once I receive the letter, I can then update UC.

Didn’t even bother asking about my 3 year old’s MR. Currently on week 21 now (SD 26/02)😴

How did you get them to tell you over phone, my daughter's supposed renewals decision was made yesterday but won't tell me over the phone said I need to wait for the letter x
