That would be brilliant if they did, I will keep my fingers crossed 🤞 I was only 16 weeks for a coc yesterday

Ljh1993 · 30/07/2025 14:29

I did coc for care but also filled in for mobility as LO will be 5 in September so they have all the info. I might call in a bit

Did you end up calling today?

Mum2threeplus2bonuskids · 30/07/2025 19:51

They won't deal with it until its closer to the renewal date. Like a couple of weeks before.

That would be great! Mine is 24 weeks on Friday, I wonder how they’re going to bring the wait times down 😅

Northern ireland is quicker than the rest of the UK as they have a separate benefits office who deals with all their benefit claims. I think the rest of the uk no matter where you are it wouldnt matter as it all goes to the same office

@LocoCoco13 @Jenni20
The claims are not dealt with at the same office for the whole of England.. The post handling site is one site where all claims and evidence is sent to..
The post handling site is responsible for scanning all claims, new claims, MR, COC and renewals onto the benefit system and then the claims are accessed by over 30 offices over England by DMs, DWP healthcare professionals, case managers ect..

Some offices are ahead of others with dates.

New claims are currently taking 13-17 weeks
Renewals are being done upto the day before current award ends.

MR are currently taking 23-28 weeks

COC are whenever they feel like it upto 30 weeks

DMs are working evenings and weekends to reduce wait times.

Hope that some what helps

Claims are generally alot quicker in northern ireland though as their offices only deal with northern ireland claims, I guess thats what i was trying to get at. But hey you learn something new everyday

Northern Ireland are on a different system, Wales is on a different system, Scotland are on a different system.
England are all on the same system but we have 1 post handling site in Wolverhampton all that site does is scan claims and evidence onto the benefit system..
The claims are then dealt with by over 30 offices across England.
So yes you're right about northern Ireland but England isn't dealt with at the same office.. There is over 500 DMs across 30 offices dealing with dla claims some offices are ahead of others.

Bit wild with so many DMs yet it taking so long. Majes you wonder just how many claims come through

Bit wild with so many DMs yet it taking so long. Majes you wonder just how many claims come through

1 million 240 thousand children in England are currently on dla..
250 thousand of these claims are up for renewal this year
And 170 thousand new claims have been filed so far this year with dla
60 thousand of these were declined or awarded lower so are in for mandatory reconsideration currently 😩
Plus around 20 thousand new claims a month.
So yes lots of claims and this is only the figures for England 🥹
I over see the DWP in my role at HMRC

My new claim for my son took 4 months and I'm currently around 4 months into a MR and yes i have to wait like the rest of us the wait times for MR and COC is diabolical... But they have got the wait times for new claims down from 25 weeks at Christmas to around average 16 weeks... Still a long wait though isn't it.

I’m currently 19weeks into new claim in Norfolk this makes me hopeful I won’t wait as long as I did for my daughters answer I don’t suppose you know the current time frame for pip renewals ? X

katiewil · 30/07/2025 21:47

Hi all, I sent off my renewal last week, still waiting for text to say scanned in but just want to know if they will back date mobility? My DD is currently awarded for HRC but wasn’t awarded mobility as was under 5, so will they backdate the mobility element now it’s renewal from the time she turned 5?

@Babylipswifey You shouldn't be waiting much longer for your dla new claim.
Norfolk pip renewals have a current backlog of 36 weeks.. If your claim is due to run out they usually send a letter or text telling you they are temporarily extending the claim for a year pending review.
When did you send review forms back and when is it due to end?

They don’t go to the same office. The forms do but once scanned onto the computer system they are delegated to all different offices around the country. That’ll be why some people in May have had their award and others are still waiting from as far back as February x

Thank your that’s helpful to know my claims not due to end till October and they have had my forms about 2 weeks now I’m just worried they will take it off me before it’s due to end in October as I have my money worked out for the next 3 months or it causes severe anxiety

Don't worry they won't take any money off you, pip payments continue until they've made a new decision even after the claim is due to end if they have a backlog and haven't made a decision payments will continue and you will get a text or letter explaining they are extending the claim and continuing payments until they've completed your review.
So just to confirm.
They have until Oct 25 to complete your review.
If they are still back logged and haven't done it by then your payments will continue until it's done.

Thank you so much I just worry so much I had a 6 year fight to get pip as they said I was too fat to have eating disorders I was 6st at the time so I have a lot of anxiety around benefits

LMIAE · 31/07/2025 01:15

sooooo…… an update! I sent that late evidence off, I rang last Friday and they said they would put it through to the DM to reassess and to ring back in 2 weeks….. 5 days later and I’ve just received an extra DLA payment at midnight which works out to make both payments in total the equivalent of HRC LRM! I’ll ring and check 1st thing in the morning 🤞🏻

LMIAE · 31/07/2025 01:18

LMIAE · 22/07/2025 10:28

Rang this morning to find out if I should send more evidence. I’m in 2 minds about the decision, Although a decision was made yesterday and my DC has been awarded and I am grateful - I feel it is not what she deserves. I rang on option 4 and the lady said that I can send further evidence and it will be looked at by the DM as long as it is within 8 weeks to see if they will change their mind- is this true does anyone know? I have sleep diaries, a sleep study being done at my home where she is hooked up to a machine, she broke my rib 3 weeks ago Because she woke up at 5 am, and wanted forceful affection and WWE super slammed me. I’m not sure this is quite accounts to MRC on top of all the other evidence I sent.

Form requested 3/3, SD 11/04, extra evidence SD 24/06. Awarded on 21/06 original at MRC LRM
