Thank you. My mental health can't cope with all this but have to for my daughter..x

MrsKB16 · 18/06/2025 19:37

I put in my MR after being declined. It’s a 25 week wait but I’ve seen it taking a lot longer which is crazy.

i don’t feel very hopeful about it because I submitted the same evidence, just highlighted the parts that contradict their reasons for declining him!

what date are they currently on for MRs to give me an idea of when mine might be looked at? After a 22 week wait for a decline the first time around it’s like Groundhog Day over here!

Gd luck I have everything crossed for u 💛

I just rang and the lady sounded fed up of having to talk to people. but as a call handler, this is your job. I sent the birth certificate last week wednesday along with hospital letters-diagnosis report from consultant and a copy of her prescription, I thought they would have got it by now.

She asked if i sent it first class or recorded delivery and I then informed her that I sent it by the envelope that they provided as well as additional information. she gave me the same spiel as the other person, how it takes 2 weeks to upload onto the system and to wait two more weeks. yet the person i spoke to on monday said call back Friday 27th and it will probable be on there then. I then asked if I can have an update on the progress of my dc claim and she said its in a queue to be looked at , eh!!!!!! this is why other people on this thread say that they tell you different things!!!
I asked sorry, its in a queue to be looked at and she said yes by case manager and they will make the decision by October?????
i thought it goes in this order

-scanned on to system
-waiting queue for case manager
-with case manager
-waiting queue for decision maker
-with decision maker
-payment team

am i wrong????
anyway she said it hasnt even been looked at, yet the other chap the other day said it has been looked and is in the holding queue for dm. yet she says holding queue for case manager, and they make the decision.... you what!!!! then she said youre in an october queue.... what the hell, 25 weeks is september since my scan date of 01-04

just goes to show different people say different things and you get rushed off the phone.
dont feel like calling back now to next week, its strange. one says one thing and another one says something else.
i was excited, now my excitements died down a bit.

happy to see the other awards however, amazing some were just 12 and 14 weeks.

Sorry to post onto your post just to make it more easier to understand if you don’t already know , a decision maker & a case manager are the same people the call handlers that answer the calls are the ones that call them a decision maker or a case manager but they are the same people one call handler may say it’s gone to a case manager and another call handler may say it’s gone to a decision maker these are both people who make decisions on your children’s claims they it is confusing but i did ask when my son was awarded as I was told 2 different things - hope this helps

Don’t be so hard on yourself I know the waiting time for tribunal is a another long dreaded wait but hopefully you will get decision overturned xx

Why do they keep asking about walking with smi? Smi criteria they can walk or is it they are asking how long they can walk before there is extreme behavioural problems? My daughter has pda and although most days we don’t make it past my front gate because she is so dysregulated from all the demand leading up to leaving the house she is also extremely unpredictable running off getting into danger, very slow walking, many times we can not carry on moving because she simply can’t cope. To answer if a smi child can walk and how far is so hard to answer because they are far to unpredictable.

For those still waiting for a decision when I first applied for dla for my daughter in 2023 the wait time back then was 20 weeks I rang up at 17 weeks on a friday night and told them I was in financial hard ship by the Monday morning I was told a decision was made the following morning on a Saturday (yes they do work weekends to catch up) and I was told case loads are in random piles and they're put on the decision makers desks thats why some people may be getting a decision before others as they don't work in date order. I know people also reached out to there local MP and recieved a decision a few days later . Hope this helps for the people still waiting.

I have emailed my local MP it's worth a shot isn't it. Thanks for putting that it wouldn't have crossed my mind x

To answer if a smi child can walk and how far is so hard to answer because they are far to unpredictable.

Because even with smi it has to effect there ability to walk and make progress on foot. 99.9% of autistic kids who qualify for HRM do NOT get awarded it under smi even if you think they fit it, because the criteria is so extremely strict. Most autistic kids get HRM under the VUW rules instead but even then its still hard to get, they absolute hate giving it out for some reason. my 3 year old cannot walk at all aided or unaided and is profoundly disabled and they denied mobility but my sons had it since 3 and he can walk and that was only after they done a random audit of his award after a few months and he then qualified under vuw even thkugh i knew he did (high care needs autistic, ADHD, anxiety disorder and everything else that goes along with it) I just didnt have the energy to fight then for his award but thankfully it was audited he was giving the correct rates

Tiredmummy2two · 18/06/2025 21:39

We’ve just been awarded LRC & LRM for our second daughter, our first gets MRC & LRM

I was shocked we didn’t get MRC as she needs more care than my eldest, I ran my claim form through AI and we worded their care needs differently not using strong enough language, it took 15 weeks from scandate to get the award and i’m dreading to think how long it’s going to take to get the MR decided on now.

Hiya,

im currently waiting to do an MR as my DD’s renewal has gone from LRC and LRM to just LRC even though her symptoms have got worse and I sent in so much evidence and wrote so much I had to type it out and staple it to the pages

the guy on the phone yesterday said we get 30 days to do an MR from the decision date and to wait for the decision letter to ask for the statement of reasons as as soon as that’s requested it adds on another 14 days!

good luck! X

Kittykatmumof4 · 19/06/2025 07:20

After reading all these posts im definitely going to phone up and speak to a team leader to see what exactly is going on for the time scales etc because to be honest it is a joke. Call handlers saying all different things its not fair on anyone. X

thanks for explaining

I was told it has been looked at and was now in queue for decision maker, Monday just gone
then yesterday, I was told it was in queue for case manager who makes decision. and it has not been looked at yet.

so, i guess still have some time to go.
Im still going to ring in this morning as I am worried now perhaps my daughters birth certificate and additional information has been lost in the post.

Momof3boys2girls · 19/06/2025 07:54

Just a quick question regarding back pay once awarded is it 3-5 days the day the decision is made or is it 3-5 the day after the award has been made.
im so confused with it all I can’t remember if she said the payment will credit my account Friday or not 🤦🏼‍♀️

Did you get awarded Tuesday? I’ve always know it work like this decision day tue, then 2 working days wed, thu then money next day fri. That’s what’s it’s been like with all 3 of my children

Momof3boys2girls · 19/06/2025 08:01

I got awarded yesterday afternoon.
I was just so overwhelmed with everything when I called and they were telling me the decision it just didn’t register the date the back pay would be credited to my bank account as I need to get my son a wheelchair
