My SD is 27/02 when I rang last Friday it was waiting to go to a DM. I rang agin yesterday to be told it’s now with a DM which I took with a pinch of salt. To my surprise a DM rang me this morning to confirm a few details on my form and said I should have a decision by the end of the day. So a lot can change in a week x

Hi is it a new claim or mr

Momof3boys2girls · 13/06/2025 16:07

Just rang and my little ones claim is with the decision maker I’ve asked if can receive a text to let me know and he’s name was Kyle who I spoke to and he was lovely but said that it’s not always possible but he will put a note on today I’ve requested a text but to be prepared I might not get one

They said ‘he can dress himself even if he puts his clothes on backwards’
they said ‘he can walk unaided even though he needs supervision’
’he displays no bad behaviour in school’ but the school evidence said he masks and goes into default mode which makes him extremely vulnarable. He has an EHCP in place which states he has EBSA and is a child in distress- feel like this one was the hardest to take because I feel he’s being punished for not lashing out over this one.

it also states he ‘loves football and has friends’ which sports helps regulate him and is something I’ve encouraged to help build friendships. He only had one friend until he was 9 and I’ve worked so hard to help him socialise and build friendships which requires ongoing support- feel like helping him has gone against me.

im not sure where I went wrong as I sent a lot of evidence- EHCP, EP report, autism report, statement off SENDCO all of which I feel show he does require additional support than an average child his age. I know other children with similar needs who have been awarded too. But I guess it is what it is I tried my best for him.

Edited

Oh that's crazy! Your son clearly as you've stated needs additional help, I really feel for you, I know it's hard I've been here myself but do if you feel strong enough to put in the MR because don't let them away with it, an ECHP itself is a lot of evidence in itself, ultimately it's your choice but if it was me I would most certainly put in a MR, i also do think it depends on the DM a lot of the time too which is wrong, I've also heard ( not sure how true ) that they only get like 1 hour to look through a claim which is not long enough imo just such a long and draining wait. I wish you all the best. Take care x

TashaxJ · 13/06/2025 16:23

@Lmtab I wonder if we had the same decision maker mine was very harsh like this too and in reasons for declining were that my sons refusals to walk are because he does not want to walk rather than he cannot walk, he has no diagnosis from health professional (He is on the pathway currently waiting for an appointment for an assessment) no EHCP, IEP or IDP in place (when I clearly stated numerous times throughout the form we are having a meeting with his school next month about an IDP) his night times needs can be prevented with simple aids (but doesn’t say what simple aids I mean if she could let me know so I could get some sleep that be brill 🤣🤣) I’m currently going through MR process xx

AASA · 13/06/2025 16:26

I’m unsure if to call back to see if the decision has been made yet or wait it to until Monday the wait is draining me 😬
