DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

First time poster, been lurking for a few threads now!

SD 12/11 Called last week with no progress, called today and still no progress. I called today as close friends have been awarded with a scan date of the 15/11, so was giving me false hope!

Hi!

I'm just sorting out our UC payment... When we enter the date that we started to care for the child awarded DLA, do we enter the award date (last week), scan date (29.10) or from when our claim was backdated to (2.10)

Thank you! x

Hi i put in the date it was backdated from same as you 2/10 (lady from dla told me to put this in)

Same scan date as me. I rang a week ago Friday at 17 weeks and wasn't looked at yet, going to wait till Friday when it's 19 weeks and call again for an update 🤞
Hopefully you hear something soon but I don't think a case manager is the same as a decision maker, I think case managers review the forms to check all the relevant information is there and that its all in order and than after that it goes to a decision maker?

I called last Thursday, 06/03, and the agent told me it was still in the queue for a decision maker and would take about 3 weeks. They said not to call until then 🙄

But today when I called, she told me this, and I got confused because I thought it was the decision maker who makes the final decision. But I will keep you updated here 🤞

Maybe the call handler got mixed up and yours is actually with a decision maker, fingers crossed for you and yeah keep us posted how you get on 🤞

Caramelbear1985 · 12/03/2025 17:02

My decision maker said yesterday she’s authorised the payment does anyone know how long it takes? She said it’s a very large payment but I’m still in shock with how much she said so I’m trying to wait patiently for the letter to read it in black and white to actually believe it’s true.

really! gives me some hope

Jcl25 · 12/03/2025 17:46

My scan date was 12/11 and I don’t want to ring up as it seems I’ll only be told it’s either in the queue or with a decision maker - I’m so hoping I won’t be declined. I’ve seen a few very valid cases that have been declined so it makes you hope that the decision maker you get will be a kind one!!

I rang up at 17 weeks for the first time and was told it was being looked at since the day they received it, they didn't seem to grasp that I was asking if it had been assigned to someone or not 🙃

Ill be 18 weeks on Fri so hoping I hear in the next week or 2 🤞

AutumnAir82 · 12/03/2025 18:30

Hi all, my daughter got her award almost a couple weeks ago, it has helped her hugely- and improved my stress levels 😂
I just wanted to share a website (which some of you may already be aware of) called Sensory Direct, I've just had a delivery off them and it's brilliant I'm already seeing the benefits for my daughter to keep her feeling less anxious etc.
I really recommend for any children with sensory issues.
