DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@Seafish1985
Aside from the autism diagnosis and sleep clinic / program evidence did you send evidence of the behaviour issues from the school and also if you add up the minutes on the " day care" part of the questions on the claim form do they add up to more than an hour?

Glitzxx · 20/03/2025 14:17

That's LRM... Has your child been awarded LRM? Is that what your decision notice says..

Kidsanchaos · 20/03/2025 14:23

HRC and LRM awarded from 6.11.24 till 31.10.26
NC SD 1.11

Leigh3 · 20/03/2025 14:23

How do renewals work if they have changed their rate? My son has gone from being MC to HC?

So that means from the child's 5th birthday the child has been awarded LRM upto the award end date, they've pre awarded it taking into account the child is due to turn 5 very soon 💫

He's 11.

Seems to be a tricky age for getting DLA, from what I've seen (and experienced). I reckon you had the same DM as me with the reasoning given!

Fingerscrossed for you! What was your renewal date?

I think it’s the 7th or 11th April, only phoned on the off chance after reading some renewals got a decline… do you know how renewals work? As he’s gone from MC to HC do you get backdated the difference

Can anyone help please?
I just tried to update uc and think I've messed it up because I put the change in children who live with you so now it looks like my daughter came to live with me on 1/11/24 instead of when she was born in 2017, been claiming uc since 2021 so worried they'll I say ive been overpaid if she wasnt living with me, which she obviously was. I can't see a way to change it back with out doing another change of circumstance which I'll probably mess up too. Should I put a note on journal? The only ones that seems to let me write something is under 'payments' which I already did asking for rhe uc element to be added on for disabled child and the other one is under 'work coach' which i don't think I've got a work coach because I work already i just have low earnings which is why I claim uc as well. Anyone else done something like this and how did you sort it out. I shouldn't have done it today far too tired to function 🤦‍♀️

I would probably phone them and explain. I’m sure they can amend it there end. ( don’t know much about UC)

Hello all, I've been declined. Nc, Sd 22/11/24.
My son is diagnosed with autism, and is on a sleep programme to help at night times. He cam sleep or get to sleep. He has terrible behaviour problems, bad OCD, and is waiting for adhd testing, requested by the psicon team.
But this morning I got a letter saying no. They are cracking down on people getting help now. I'm too drained to get an MR. I hope you all get better luck.

Sorry to hear this. It’s very soul destroying.

I agree with the other lovely parents. Children with autism require much more than 1 hour of additional care, promoting, encouragement and supervision than their neurotypical peers.

Request the MR, have a breather and then go for it. Maybe ask local CAB or carers centre to help you complete this. Good luck x

You know what's really bad about this wait .. the fact it makes us parents question ourselves 😔 did I portray my child correctly.. did i fill all the paperwork properly... did I add enough evidence... did I double check and check again ... did I write something wrong? ... and it's absolutely disgusting that we have to go through this ... I'm at 22 weeks ... I've just laid in bed for over an hour going through my MR statement from October last year. nearly in tears because my child's disabilities, mental health and well-being is second guessed by someone who has no clue of my child. and because we have to beg for supporting evidence from places that barely support.
I feel for everyone going through this because it's just not right especially when our children deserve the help they are entitled to because us as parents deserve the help we require to care for our children without being rejected 😢 sending flowers 💐 and 🫂 to you all and myself x

Yes this is so true.

sending you big hugs and also to the other mums and dads that continue to struggle against this unfair system.
