DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Congratulations on your award. Can i ask what bank your with please? And how do you get to see pending payments? Seen alot of people say pending payments can be seen on there banks. Im with barclays and cant see any incoming pending payments, only whats going out surprisingly haha.

HSBC and Monzo both show pending payments. I'm not sure about who else though. NatWest and Nationwide don't. Lloyds didn't when I was with them too.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/03/2025 19:05

I'm really sorry about your decline, @Mom24boys111. Good luck with the tribunal. I think somebody said it's a year, potentially.

I'm like @PSO123 and think we'll have the MR declined. Our application initially was really thorough, but the DM either didn't read everything, or decided that all 11 year olds are like DD (they're not!). They were very dismissive of her problems.

Glitzxx · 19/03/2025 19:07

What date is your MR? Ours is 4th Oct, so 24 wks this Friday. Looking back my first application was terrible.... I'm praying I've sent enough this time. Good luck to you!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/03/2025 19:38

I didn't send any extra, as I sent all I had the first time. And sent loads of additional sheets to answer the questions / give detail.

30 Sept for the MR, so 25 weeks next Monday.

I just don't think we'll get it, bearing in mind we gave it our all the first time.

It was declined at renewal

This is exactly what I’m afraid of. I’m so sorry for your news.

That makes sense, I sent basically nothing but the forms like an idiot the first time so I'd have declined me too probably. I've not sent masses extra but everything I had. I'm just praying I've been able to convey his issues onto paper....hopefully you will hear tomorrow or Friday. I still can't believe the MRs are going right to 25 weeks!

It's was more of the same evidence he's received dla 4 around 5 years sent renewal last July declined in September so mr 26th September declined again today and I'd sent more evidence as well so going to tribunal does any 1 know how long tribunal process is please 🙏

So sorry you got declined again!

I had my sons tribunal 14/02/25
original first claim sd was 19/06/23 no award so did MR straight away, waited around 18 weeks then declined again!
I think I waited just over 1year for tribunal, unfortunately declined due to age 😩 (was 10months old)

i submitted another application whilst waiting for tribunal as my son was diagnosed with another condition.
That claim got declined for the same reason-being his age!
submitted MR 20/11 and waiting for hopefully a award this time as he’s now 2🤞
it’s been a long fight but I know he’s entitled and his care needs are much greater so I won’t give up!
I’ve just sent in some more evidence from paediatrician and a letter from sensory consortium manager!

my son has a genetic disorder, certified sight impaired ( will be certified severely sight impaired soon) GDD, is uncomfortable to go outside as he has severe photophobia and high risk for skin cancer due to no pigmentation. Also suspected ASD.

It’s frustrating and a hard battle sometimes but don’t give up! Good luck 🤞

thank you so much 🥰 I bank with monzo and you get paid the day before any moneys due to go into your account so I was meant to get it Friday but due to banking with monzo I can have it tomorrow so it popped up today saying come back at 4pm tomorrow to get this payment early and that’s how I knew xx

It was declined at renewal

So sorry for your news Hun😥 I'm waiting to hear back about my son's renewal, his old claim ends 20/04. Did you send in much evidence x

TippieTappyTara · 19/03/2025 23:47

You know what's really bad about this wait .. the fact it makes us parents question ourselves 😔 did I portray my child correctly.. did i fill all the paperwork properly... did I add enough evidence... did I double check and check again ... did I write something wrong? ... and it's absolutely disgusting that we have to go through this ... I'm at 22 weeks ... I've just laid in bed for over an hour going through my MR statement from October last year. nearly in tears because my child's disabilities, mental health and well-being is second guessed by someone who has no clue of my child. and because we have to beg for supporting evidence from places that barely support.
I feel for everyone going through this because it's just not right especially when our children deserve the help they are entitled to because us as parents deserve the help we require to care for our children without being rejected 😢 sending flowers 💐 and 🫂 to you all and myself x

Kidsanchaos · 20/03/2025 00:32

I can't believe it, money has just gone into my account! My daughter needs have been recognised! Can not express how relieved I am!

I'm not sure of the rate because I don't know if it was backdated to scan date or the date I requested forms or the date they should have been returned by because I was late in returning them. I will call tomorrow/today and hopefully they can tell me what rate it is.

I won't sleep tonight just feel so emotional, such mixed feelings of relief but also frustration at what an awful system this is, what an awful wait it is, the horrendous anxiety it causes and how unfair some of the decisions are. I am also aware that my child was probably only awarded for 2 years, so in about 18 months I will be going through this all over again.

Thank you to everyone one this forum it's kept me going and I hope your children are awarded what they so obviously deserve.

I'll update tomorrow when I find out the rates she's been awarded.
