DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hello so my son was awarded Dla from May 2024, I updated UC he is my 3rd child so I am capped on him, I asked for back payment however they verified the Dla and the letter says they owe me £195 so it doesn’t look like I am entitled to a back payment from the day he was awarded Dla? Is this correct?

when you did the change of circumstance, did you put the start date as the date you were told the decision or the day the award started which was May 2024?

Foodie99 · 18/03/2025 18:58

Hi long time lurker applied for DLA for my middle child
NC, Scan date 01-11-24
Rang today for an update as now 20 weeks and was told a decision was made on friday, lady put me through to someone else who confirmed i got HRC and LRM- letter still to arrive.

Had been with decision maker one week.

Also they told me scan date was 01-11 due to backlog even though i sent the application early October but claim date starts from Mid October. Hope this helps anyone as i had no calls to check bank details or anything

I called up today to check award and length
hrc lrm till 2026
they made a decision last Thursday and sent out the letter.
I asked why my claim was death with so quickly and he couldn’t give me an answer.
if I had to guess why I would say perhaps it was my cover letter.
I am struggling an awful lot so I didn’t hold back on explaining just how much home life is affected for me.

@Mumof31171 Thank you for replying.. That is very quick for England especially London... So happy for you that they've sorted it for you and made an award for your child and yes you're probably correct if you wrote a covering letter with your claim the case manager must have read it and passed the claim over to the DM to sort, they usually do that if financial hardship is stated ( not saying that's what your cover letter said) either way really happy for you I hope the award brings you some peace of mind 💫

@SweetSugarPlum Are you sure that's what your letter states.. As when you do a change of circumstance that's verified by the system in time for your next pay day and the disabled child element if you've been awarded MRC is £156.11 a month so you will get that much every month moving forward...
If you've wrote a message on your journal asking for backpay from may 24 that goes to a decision maker who will write you a seperate letter for backpay and the date and amount and when you will receive the backpay...

Thankyou yes I think what has happened is that I changed my circumstances to add the disability element on the last day of my assessment period so they had verified and updated the system which added the disability element to my next payment (I checked and it is £156.11) but it will come separate to my UC payment, I did leave a note to ask for backpay to May 22 so I’m sure they will now confirm and send to a DM, I will likely get this confirmed tomorrow hopefully.

PositivityRipples · 18/03/2025 20:46

@SweetSugarPlum yes that will be what's happened.. The verification moving forward with the disabled child element and or carers element is always seperate to the back pay.
Verification happens within days of doing a change on uc but backpay takes a little longer and you get a seperate letter for that.. Just keep an eye on your journal it shouldn't take to long to get confirmation of backpay and amount 💫

TheZippyMintHedgehog · 18/03/2025 21:59

22 weeks today for NC. When I rang almost 11 days ago they said was with DM. During security check they did ask do we receive benefits and we don’t, could that explain why ours is taking so long? I’m more impatient knowing people are getting decisions generally by 20 weeks 😫 got a feeling our decline letter is just taking it’s sweet time to arrive.

Has anyone been awarded LRC ? I always see people awarded medium or high but not low!

Hi yes we was awarded LRC for my LO have put in a MR 22/1/25

Congratulations to all those who got what their kids deserved and good luck to those still waiting or having to go down the MR/appeal process. Have been rooting for you all and continue to do so.

Haven’t heard anything yet, but getting butterflies and feeling sick now thinking about it all and thinking did we send enough or too much evidence, have the school been contacted and playing things down as per usual, were there many positive things in the reports which would be used negatively etc.

🤯🤯🤯

That’s ok,
i do have my own disabilities and that’s what I honed in on in the cover letter so perhaps it was that.
I am really pleased it has happened so quickly as I came on this chat daily and expected to be here for another 10 weeks or so
best of luck to everyone waiting, this chat was really helpful and even though I didn’t speak much I was on here religiously with fingers crossed for everyone.
i suppose i will be back in 2 years when I have to do it all over again.

I got a back payment of £746.20 last night in the bank. Worked it out at LRC. I’m happy it’s not a decline but I’m 100% doing a MR. 6 months wait and feels likes the biggest kick in the teeth😭 Over the last week I have received a lot more evidence of my LO struggles, does anyone know if I send that in asap (im from

scotland so I can send it online) they will look over it quicker as some sort of late evidence, feel so deflated and my anxiety is going to be through the roof waiting another 6 months for them to look over it again. My LO also has his follow up appointment on 7th April for his diagnosis so I’ll be updating them on everything that has changed since his first assessment in June. Felt so sick to my stomach this morning and could barely sleep last night, the worst feeling when your child doesn’t get what they deserve and don’t even know how they’ve came to the conclusion of LRC , so honestly feel for all of you that have been decline or having to do MR😩

Mumsyt0w0 · 19/03/2025 09:09

Hi All,
My son was awarded HRM & MRC a few years back, I've sent off the renewal form and accompanying paperwork etc.. was sent in February. I haven't received any confirmation of them receiving it. Is this normal for a renewal? I remember getting a text before for his new claim. But this part is all new to me.

I feel like the evidence I sent in was not read properly she’s on the autism spectrum on waiting list non verbal refuses to walk still use pushchair can’t communicate her needs in pull ups she’s just turned 4
sent in
Speech and lang letters
ilp plan from nursery
child development reports
Drs summery

there was a part in the decesion letter which said she attends “dance classes” idk where they got that from as no where on my form dance was mentioned!
