DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@Peaches10 Make sure you've sent the message under "payment" and not to a work coach or any other option.. The payment messages go to the service centre they will send your request to a decision maker... They can't just put a message on your journal refusing, it needs to be an official letter from the decision maker as if the decision maker refuses you can ask for a MR but the decision maker won't refuse they will do it under special circumstances i don't even understand why you're having an issue or who exactly is refusing to backdate it.. Thee coaches don't hold the power to refuse it's upto the DM.. Hopefully it will be sorted now you've sent the message under payment.. Let me know if you have any issues I'm happy to help 💫

Im a SAHM so i'm not in any paid work but husband works full time & not down as a carer for DD

Mummyof5kiddos · 13/03/2025 22:21

Evening all, how is a COC done? Would they send out a new claim form or do I just provide the changes to send them?

Definitely wasn’t a dream call from decision maker woke up and pennies & lots of pounds in my account 😍

PluckedFeatherDuster · 14/03/2025 06:57

Hi Everyone,

Currently waiting for a decision on two of my children's DLA renewals who share the same end date for their current awards. (15th May)

My 13yo son currently gets HRC LRM.

My 5yo daughter currently gets MRC HRM.

Both renewal forms were sent back to DWP 8th January, and they were scanned onto the system 28th January.

As far as I know, my 13yo's isn't with a DM yet, but my 5yo's has been with a DM for a few weeks now.

I checked my bank late last night and saw a payment of £215.40 for my daughter? I am first due to receive her monthly £290.60 on Tuesday next week (Motability gets the rest).

Am I correct in thinking she may have been awarded HRC HRM? HRC is £108.55 a week and MRC is £72.65 a week. 108.55 - 72.65 = £35.90. 6 weeks of £35.90 (which would be from 28th Jan to today) is £215.40.

Shouldn't it have been backdated to the date they received the form back? (8th Jan).

In any case gonna call them at 9am to check, but just wanted to ask if my suspicion might be correct.

How long you been waiting?

Pancakerocker · 14/03/2025 07:31

You said it was a renewal so no it wouldn't be backdated to when you sent the form. The new rate would normally be from when the current award ends.

18 weeks today so I'm thinking in the next week or so. NC SD 8/11- i sent School reports for last 3 years, his SEN plan from school, his OT assessments, SALT, his initial ASD assessment (awaiting diagnosis, it's been 14 months since inital assessment) x

Poobs2022 · 14/03/2025 07:42

Coffeeandcrocs · 13/03/2025 11:28

Hey! He was awarded under VUW as he has Cerebral Palsy and can't stand unaided or walk very far with or without aids 🙂

My LB is the same so I'm remaining hopeful for HRM and he already gets MRC. It's been a while tho as I think my SD is end of Oct. I will keep hoping!

I thought so too, but then I've seen so many with much more declined 🤣🤣. We will see, think you, and happy "buying stuff to help your baby day" x

Caramelbear1985 · 14/03/2025 07:48

Wishing everyone good luck with your claims hopefully see a few more awarded today. It’s such a painfully long process to get what our kids need but you have to fight. I’ve been paid my back pay so just awaiting the letter now to see how long he’s awarded for. Definitely a treat of some hair dye today from all the gray the wait has taken x

puglover93 · 14/03/2025 09:30

Hi everyone, just after some advice please! My son is 3 and diagnosed moderate-severe ASD.
We currently get middle rate care for him but he has sleep issues so I don’t know if it’s worth doing a MR for HRC? The only thing is, he does 4 nights where he sleeps through, then 4 days where he’s up for 4 hours every night, which he needs constant adult supervision support (the same as he needs in the day) - would this still be worth doing a MR or will they say no because it’s not every night??
Thanks so much! Xx

puglover93 · 14/03/2025 09:32

Sorry I meant he does 4 nights where he sleeps through the night then 4 nights when he’s up for 4 hours in one chunk - sometimes he gets up at 2 for 4 hours then goes back to sleep until 7:30am, other times he gets up at 3am and is then awake for the day x

PluckedFeatherDuster · 14/03/2025 09:33

Update:

Called up and was told a decision on my daughter's renewal claim was made 11th March (they received forms back 8th Jan, scan date 28th Jan).

At first they told me they're not able to give the decision information over the phone and I have to wait till I get a letter in the post within 7-10 days?? This is something new because they've previously been able to give that information out over the phone? Anyone else experienced this?

Anyway, after much pushing I was told that payment cycle will remain normal, so next full payment is Tuesday 18th March for £434.30.

From that I have deciphered my daughter has been awarded HRC and HRM (Motability gets the mobility part hence why I'd only get the care part paid into my bank).

Still, I thought they had to back date renewals from the date they received the forms back (8th Jan), not from the scan date (28th Jan)? Can anyone clarify this?

My son's renewal claim hasn't been sent to a DM yet and was just told they have up until the end of the current award date to make a decision (15th May).

I’ve been told this morning they have made a decision on MR but won’t tell me on the phone. Currently trying to get through to someone else as if they have refused again I will appeal but want to ask for statement of reasons ASAP to get the ball rolling x

will let you know if they are more helpful x

Congratultions Ring back option 3 instead of 4 for mr they answer a lot faster can i ask what date your Mr was please iv only got 6 days left for decision 😉

PositivityRipples · 14/03/2025 10:25

@PluckedFeatherDuster Your new award will go from the end date of your old award not your scan date as your claim is a renewal.
