DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

my son was awarded middle rate care. no mobilty, i’m not bothered about the mobility tbh. but i am going to appeal it i’ve spoke to his support worker and she said he is 100% entitled to high rate care and she wants to appeal it so im just going with it.. let the wait commence again!!

Got same as you love but gotta wait for letter to do universal credit as when I rang to see what my son been award she give me a wrong date so universal credit told me to wait for letter 🙄xxxx

Mumoffourlovelies · 13/03/2025 14:47

Congratulations to all awarded in the last few days X called today as my scan date is 5/11 so hoping for some news. Got a grumpy one who almost laughed and said 'youre only 17 weeks' (I'm not, pretty sure 18 actually 🙄) and it's definitely taking 25 so you've got ages if you want to send more evidence. Was debating on sending another prescription she's got for a night cream for one of her issues, but I've already sent three loads of evidence special delivery. May as well now, by the way she laughed I reckon I'm months away lol!

bellab0013 · 13/03/2025 14:52

Nc sent 31/1/2025 no sd as yet so guessing it takes a while before you get a sd?

Wallacebird · 13/03/2025 16:22

So a decision maker called me earlier to say she is working on our claim and to expect a letter in 7-10 days. She said she won’t send a text 😭

MR SD 25/09/24 so we are at 24wks and 1 day today.

congratulations to all those awarded!

Justanotherlove · 13/03/2025 16:44

@Wallacebird hopefully it's good news, was there any additional questions?
This system needs to go online I think
With live updates, free up the phone lines and stop people going mad thinking about it x

No she didn’t ask me anything at all accept the time scale I should expect a letter and just to say she had got the note confirming my daughter had been accepted onto the jades pathway.

Jod3s87 · 13/03/2025 17:38

18 weeks tomorrow and not with a case manager/decision maker 🙃🫠

PSO123 · 13/03/2025 19:49

First post here but they've kept me going..... MR 4th October. 23 weeks tomorrow, been with a case manager for weeks and weeks. The wait is excruciating and the anxiety is indescribable. To be fair, I didn't send enough evidence the first time round so I am just hoping and praying I've done enough this time.

Any other MRs that have heard back before 25 weeks?

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

Peaches10 · 13/03/2025 19:53

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone knew if UC back pay carers element. I have been told I am getting back payment for disability element. But due to making the changes later on UC they don't back date carers element. The changes were made later due to waiting for a decision from DLA award.

Did you send much more evidence with MR? I am assuming decline for our claim. Over 21 weeks now for a NC. I did send evidence, but already wrote a MR linking to the evidence I already sent just incase 😂 then I’ll amend to statement of reasons. My daughter has had her first app for ADHD assessment now (unsure if they’d accept that as late evidence with a decline?) and they’ve accepted her to be assessed. Still waiting for autism app, it’s been almost 2 years since school referred.

this wait is driving me daft. They have such high volumes of claims now they really need to change how they handle it. Scotland claims seem to be going a lot smoother and easier to do with it being online.

PositivityRipples · 13/03/2025 20:18

@Peaches10 Yes they back date the carers element of UC and if their reason for not doing so is because of " a late change" they can't actually refuse? Are you sure they've refused to backdate it and they've not just asked you the reason for reporting a late change and sent it to a decision maker?

I phoned up to make the changes as I wasn't sure how to do it online and wanted to do it correctly.
I had no response from my coach person. After a couple of weeks they said I was getting back paid for disability element. And I questioned about the carers element and I was told as I made the changed on the 28th Feb. It will go from there but I have explain why they were made then due to dla wait time. But iv had no response again. So I'm just wondering why I was told they are going it from the 28th and not back dating it from 11 November like there doing with the disability element. It's so confusing 😫

PositivityRipples · 13/03/2025 20:36

@Peaches10 Log into your UC journal Go to message and use the option "payment" when it asks what the message is about...
Write this:
Hello I've applied for the disabled child element to be added to my uc from 11th November as that's the date of my child's dla award.. Can i also have the carers element added to my UC account and backdated to this date under a supersession and sent to a decision maker ASAP reason for late reporting is I've only just had my child's dla decision.
Kind regards.
Copy and paste that message but before you do are you sure that's the dla award date that your award is being backdated to and not your scan date?
If that's definitely your backdated award date copy and paste the message if not change the date to your dla award date.

Yeah, I sent private ADHD assessment report, seperate letters from me, dad and adult sibling, drs referrals, sleep diary, school assessment forms. To be honest I don't think I did a good enough job the first time round but the double wait is making me so anxious. We've had to go private for everything for my child and this would really make a difference but I've found it really difficult to quantify and document their needs.... especially as so much of it is just normal for us nowadays.

I'm also ringing far too much, even I know it's too much (every couple of days), I've seen previous comments saying someone was threatened with being logged as a nuisance caller! I'm just desperately waiting and the longer it goes on the further away it feels.

It's horrific isn't it? The shorter waits for new claims makes it even harder to cope with! I don't understand how they prioritise it. I hope you hear soon, when are you at 25 weeks? I didn't call once the first time round and now I'm obsessed. Sheer desperation I think at this point.

Thank you. I did sent a very similar message appeared few times and I was either ignoring or told as it was reported on the 28th February that's when it will go from. But I have written another one on there so I'm hoping I hear something back tomorrow.
But thank you for your help. ❤️

Really hope you hear back early next week! Keep us updated! You're a week and a day ahead of me and I'm fully prepared it's not going to be before then now. I think the reason I keep calling so much is I never got a text or anything last time.... haven't had anything since the 11 week letter at the start. What a waste of paper!

Nads2210 · 13/03/2025 21:10

Hiya
Me again with a question 🙃 this time regarding Carers Allowance
I filled the online application (very short & simple thankfully) stated i'll receive a email but didnt so called today & to my surprise the CH very abruptly said decision was made yesterday & to expect a letter outlining reasons & he can not give any info over the phone, So obviously i will await the letter but anyone got any experience regarding this?sorry iknow its more DLA apps focused on here x
Just confused as I thought it'd take a lil longer then a few hrs for a decision to be made!
Good luck everyone x
