DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I hope you receive positive responses about the award soon.🤞

What we face every day with our children’s challenges is already so difficult, fighting for their rights in school, healthcare, therapies, and on top of that, waiting for a benefit that is rightfully theirs for such a long time causes us great anxiety.

I truly hope, I am really hoping for positive responses for you soon.🙏🏼

Thank you 😊

Getting frustrated now with the call handlers telling different things when you call. Was told was with a dm on Monday by a lovely man and when I've called today as I'd seen people in late november and same scan date getting their decisions I thought I would chance the call. Got told they're not up to my date yet I said well I'm calling because I've seen several past my date and she said well that's strange and that it's not been seen yet by anyone. I don't mind waiting at all and I'm absolutely over the moon for others who've had their decision but there would be so much stress and worry if they were consistent with what they tell you. One saying with a dm and then now apparently it's not. Just silly, just want to know if it's a decline it's a long wait for a decline. Congrats on those awarded though ❤️❤️

It is very frustrating I was told last week with a case manager and rang today and same thing
I ask if decision maker and case manager is the same thing she said yes
I asked if I should send in my extra evidence she said it’s my choice as could still be another 6 weeks well how does it take that long if with a decision maker already for 1 week ( or is it just in there pile) I’m 01/11 but MR

Aww bless you with an MR as well I can't imagine how people like yourself are feeling with MRs as you've been waiting double the time really. I remember when I applied for my eldest only a couple of years ago and the MRs were dine in 4/6 weeks if I remember rightly so I was completely shocked to see how huge the wait time has gone now. The whole system is a shambles really. I'd rather they just say no update instead of one saying one thing then another a different. No wonder people call them constantly because they're getting told different things.

I really hope you get your decision as soon as possible for your child I have my fingers crossed for you ❤️

SD 21/10 I'm the same , I've had a text last Tuesday saying they will send a letter when a decision is made , received a call from them on Friday to confirm bank details and called them twice this week and one said they can't tell me anything and to wait on a letter, the other asked what the caller said on Friday and I said it was just to confirm bank details and he said well sounds like its on the last bit so to wait on a letter🤷🏽‍♀️ but couldn't tell me if a decision had been made . Still haven't had a letter or any payment in bank so I'm just hoping i get some goods news today or tomorrow if not another week of worrying, good luck with yours🤞🏽

Aww as if you're still waiting from October and then you're not getting a proper answer, can't imagine how frustrating it is! I think I'm just going to leave it now in the hopes that I get a text (something else they're not consistent with by the looks of it). I really hope it's not long now for you bet you feel like pulling your hair out haha!

Did the call handler put your details in and find your claim? Just wondering because him saying "we're not up to that date yet" sounds very generalised like hes just reading off the 25 week wait script.

Although the woman I spoke to today said that some call handlers tell people it's with dm when its not because it says 'assigned to case manager' on their system but when it's with a dm there's an actual name of dm on the system. They cant tell you who it is but there will be a name that they can see.

I'd maybe call back tomorrow make sure they find your application on the system and ask if theres any decision maker/case handlers name on there. They seem to be using both names dm and cm for the same thing.

If it makes you feel any better I'm sd 1/11 and no decision yet, got told today it's definitely with dm and they have sent requested extra evidence from someone but they couldn't tell me who they've requested it from. I'm going to assume it's school and will try and catch the senco today and ask her. Oh an the call handler was also suprised that mine was with dm because I'm 'only' at 19 weeks 😂🤦‍♀️

The anxiety the waiting causes is horrible isn't it 😕

@MaddyM8 I wasn't stressing until they called on Friday as I knew it could take 25 weeks but to call and confirm bank details which would more than likely be the last thing on the from and still not hear anything almost a week later is worrying. I applied on 12/09 and sent everything back within a week so been 6 months of waiting and I know people that applied the same time and got awarded in January. I'm in Scotland so think updates are a little different, but this thread has gave me more info than anyone on the phone has. Good luck and let's hope we hear soon☺️

Yeah she took the reference and name and security questions but she was quite dismissive (and I'm always overly nice when I call coz I don't wanna annoy them haha) and saying yeah well they're not even up to november yet and that's when I said ok but I've seen a lot in november even late november being awarded but that's OK just thought I would double check as I've received no texts with this application and I had several with my eldest daughters. So she double checked my phone number and stuff.

I just thought I'd be cheeky and double check as seen a lot of 15/11 awarded but I think I'm in for a longer wait like yourself.

I'm not angry at others being awarded or anything I think it's great that they have and it's probably just to do with whoever works quicker/has less chasing up to do.

Bless you I hope you hear before me with your scan date being before me the anxiety is horrible it's such a long wait for a decline as well ❤️

Josie163 · 13/03/2025 13:37

I called them, and they informed me that my daughter received the High Rate Care but didn’t receive Mobility because she is 3 years old.

She has difficulty moving, uses orthoses, has no sense of danger, and needs to walk with reins, be carried, or strapped into a pram to prevent her from running off. She also falls a lot and has reduced pain sensitivity. She falls and gets injured but doesn’t feel it, and she always has bruises on her body.

It’s challenging, but I’m not sure whether I should do the Mandatory Reconsideration. I think it will be pointless, even with letters from the paediatrician, physiotherapy, and orthotics. It’s exhausting. 😢

I'd still call back tomorrow if I were you and say you were told it was with dm on what ever date it was and can they check that the dms name is showing on their system. That would send me into a spin if I was told two different things, you just want to know one way or the other don't you is it with a dm or not?! It can't be that difficult to read information of a screen surely?! 🤦‍♀️

Oh and absolutely yes the same, so happy to see others getting their awards but it doesnt help with the anxiety about our own applications. I always sort of thought mine would be one of the later ones to go though and I bet it sits with dm for another 4/5 weeks now 😅

Got fingers crossed for both of us we hear back sooner 🤞

That's amazing about HRC! I don't know much about the mobility part and how a childs age affects it but if you think your child should qualify then absolutely do a mr! It wont affect the care rate you receive for the next 25 weeks while it goes through and you could be then backdated the mobility part if successful
