DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Mr as 20/11
i just rang to make sure I’ve still got time to send evidence in!
it’s with a case manager but won’t be looked at by a decision maker until nearer the 25wk mark! I’m on week 16.
she also said that evidence can take up to 6 weeks to be scanned on!
she made a note of the evidence I’ll be sending in next week.
i spoke to a lovely lady xx

hi mine is 01/11 MR
I sent evidence special delivery on Thursday and was scanned on the day they received it which was Friday I think how you send it makes a big difference as FIF send in evidence for me and done normal post and that did take 6 weeks for them to scan in

I was told when I rang last week case manager and decision maker was the same thing

same scan date as mine 😩

Whatalongwait · 13/03/2025 10:02

I was told to wait till April when I called on Monday but I'm going to call again tomorrow. I'm happy for the November awarded people not having to wait but this is ridiculous now!

Thank you- it is a big relief after near enough a year! Becomes so stressful doesn’t it when you are trying to juggle everything else. Hopefully yours won’t be too long now. Good luck x

Thank you x I called today but they said they can’t speed it up at all, I just have to wait. They said I should have a decision by we’d which will be 25wks but then said it could take longer if they need information from school or other professionals 😭

Justanotherlove · 13/03/2025 10:43

@Coffeeandcrocs awww amazing amazing.
Can you tell me a little about your child, is he autistic and met criteria for smi? X

Me, 15.10. Literally just my luck to still be waiting at 21 weeks 2 days .. Last Friday they said it was with a DM. So no idea if that means it may of been looked at now and its a decline or if it still hasn't been looked at.

Hi! I’ve been a silent reader for a little while… I had a MR which the date was 2nd October… I feel like I’m very close but also I’ve seen dates after me be awarded 🫣 my first scan date was 3rd March 2024! So over a year!

Hopeful1212 · 13/03/2025 11:27

Hey! He was awarded under VUW as he has Cerebral Palsy and can't stand unaided or walk very far with or without aids 🙂

Hi all
SD 8/11 COC
Been following threads since thread 60🤣 Rang today 18 weeks tomorrow.(Plus 2 weeks from posting forms 24/10 slow to scan?) Said should hear within the next 2 weeks, but didnt make it very clear if claim was with a decision maker just told me to ring back if not heard anythinig so it can be escalated. Anyone had this response recently? 😅 Anxiously waiting 😰

KT94 · 13/03/2025 11:47

NC SD 29/10
Just called for an update, we are finally with a DM! The lady on the phone said the DM had put it on hold as they needed 2 questions answering about whether we work abroad or receive benefits from abroad which are both a no, don't remember these being on the forms or I would have answered them lol. Not sure if or when they were planning to call me to ask these questions if I hadn't called myself, so well worth ringing if you're putting it off!

So my childs application is with a decision maker, call handler couldn't tell me what date it had gone to decision maker but I know its within the last two weeks because when I called 2 weeks ago and it wasn't with anyone. Decision maker has sent out for extra information but it doesn't say on the system who she's sent it to. If she had put a note on and said school etc I could maybe of spoken to school and asked if they could send it back quickly but I've no idea who she's spoken to for extra evidence or exactly what extra evidence she needs since I sent plenty with application.

This is the list of stuff I sent

  1. Extra information for questions 23, 25, 40, 41, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 64, 66, 67, 69 + 70.
  2. Question 38, Supporting letter from grandparents.
  3. Question 53, mobility needs.
  4. Supporting letter from GP.
  5. Physiotherapy Report.
  6. Email from 0-19 nurse practitioner.
  7. Supporting letter from Holiday club.
  8. Supporting letter from Koala family support charity.
  9. Clinical review acceptance letter from community Paediatrics team.
  10. Individual Behaviour Plan.
  11. Final EHCP.
  12. Educational Psychologists Report.
  13. Speech and Language (SALT) Report.
  14. Movement assessment battery for children.
  15. 0-19 referral form.
  16. Educational psychologists referral form.
  17. EHCP request.

I was worried I'd sent too much because I've read some DMs don't have time to go through masses of evidence. Anyway from all of that she could have sent request for more information to any of them so I've got no idea who, no idea what and no idea how long they will take to send back what's been requested. The wait now is going to be horrible.

Good news 🎊 SD 01/11/24

I’ve just received a message informing me that my child qualifies for DLA.

After receiving this message, how many days does it usually take for the first payment to be made?

Oh wow that's amazing, congratulations! 🎊 That was a quick wasn't it, was only yesterday you said about it being with dm! An they said case manager didn't they so must be the same thing as a dm. Do you know how long dm had it for before decision was made or what rate your child has been awarded?

On Thursday, 06/03, when I called, they told me I was still in the queue for a DM. Yesterday, 12/03, when I called, they said I had a case manager. It seems I wasn’t with a case manager for more than 4-5 days.

They didn’t tell me about the rate, so I will need to wait for the letter and the amount to be deposited in the account to find out. I hope they made a fair decision. 🤞

Fingers crossed I hear back soon, just posted before your post saying mines now with dm but they've sent for more evidence from someone but I don't know who or how long it will take for them to get back to dm with it. My anxiety is through the roof now 😬

I hope you receive positive responses about the award soon.🤞

What we face every day with our children’s challenges is already so difficult, fighting for their rights in school, healthcare, therapies, and on top of that, waiting for a benefit that is rightfully theirs for such a long time causes us great anxiety.

I truly hope, I am really hoping for positive responses for you soon.🙏🏼
