DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi, COC SD 12/09 receiving mrc. Child turned 5 start of Feb and have been awarded lrm. Does anyone know if this is backdated from the SD or when child turned 5. Thanks

Newnee · 25/02/2025 21:51

Just wondering if anyone can help in regards to the mobility bit -

NC SD 21/10 no news yet - my daughter is only 4 - 5 in August - I filled in the whole form back in October because at that point I didn’t realise she couldn’t get LRM until 5. Since then I’ve realised if awarded a care rate, they send a form 6 months before 5 if they may qualify for low rate… my question is because now it’s passed the 6 months before her birthday, and I’ve already filled in the mobility, are they able to award LRM now or will I have to wait for a new form ? If they take what I’ve already stated in the form and do give an award does it start before their 5 or once her 5th birthday has hit? Sorry if this is confusing, I’m just lost myself on the mobility part… many thanks

We are relying on HRC so we will be entitled to another bedroom (currently on the housing list for council) but my son was awake from 2am til 6:30am wandering round, jumping on and off furniture, needed nappy changing twice, needed food, running into walls and vocal stimming, even climbing on his brother and jumping on him waking him up. This happens most nights and a "good night" for us would be a wake up where he's only up for 2 hours, not 3 or 4.

I found it really hard to convey this care need because other than sleep diaries, his lack of sleep being mentioned in reports and referrals being made I don't know how to evidence his night time care needs as we don't have appointments in the night. My oldest son is falling behind in school due to the lack of sleep caused by his brother keeping him up all night , he's unable to concentrate due to tiredness.

Has anyone in a similar situation to us heard back yet? If so what rate did you get and what evidence did you send?

Flop2023 · 26/02/2025 09:20

Our NC scan date is 14/10 and still not heard anything yet. I'll call on Monday when we reach 20 weeks. Made a bit of a mess of the forms by filling out the mobility section which I then realised child is not eligible for (they are 4 and would not qualify for HRM) but by then we had completed the rest of the form and gathered all the evidence so decided to send in anyway rather than start again. They take a long time! Feel like maybe that is the delay for us. As I think we had decent evidence for at least LRC 🙏

Ammybammy · 26/02/2025 10:45

Hi everyone,
Discovered this thread whilst trying to find out how long a change of circumstances would take and thought I may as well join you!
Our 7 year old boy has been in receipt of DLA since he was 4 due to ASD. He currently has HRC and LRM (since 5), and this was relatively easy to secure, with very little actual evidence as he did not have his diagnosis when we originally applied.
We sent his renewal off in November, response received last month, all good, quite quick I thought!
We now need to submit a change of circumstances as he has an additional diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), and will be requesting HRM so we can hopefully access a car to suit his needs and with room for his wheelchair.
I called and requested the form yesterday, but cannot get my head around how there is still no online portal or system for this, how and why it takes so long and how much they must spend on postage!

Ours was updated and backpay with a week which I think was really quite quick. I have heard some horror stories though so I think it depends on which service centre you deal with? On my journal it says Wrexham centre.

I didn't know a partner could claim a second carer element for any additional children who require DLA so that will also be really helpful. Just in case anyone else wasn't aware!

zoeybrooks45 · 26/02/2025 13:05

Anybody been delayed with DWP responding back to the first stage of appeal? There was someone on a previous thread but I don’t remember what they stated. The deadline is tomorrow and they haven’t responded back.

Plucked up the courage to call again regarding MR 16/09/25 (23 weeks)
wanted to make sure they had received his diagnosis letter and some other evidence sent in October. They had and she updated me. Apparently with a case manager not that I believe a word they say or that this actually means anything. The lady on the phone was nice at least, and said MR taking full 25 weeks.
just incase anyone else is in a similar boat this is my update.

candywoo · 26/02/2025 13:11

Lots of 15/16/17ths being done now

legalseagull · 26/02/2025 13:20

Joining the waiting list - although it sounds like i'll have a long wait. Scanned 5/12 - so expecting to hear back around April time by the looks of it.

DD with ASD (and being assessed for ADHD). I am hoping she's eligible for at least MRC. I messed up when I submitted the form and said there was no mobility needs, as I was thinking "she can walk". I've send them a letter this week detailing our regular struggles with her refusing to move - or running away from us, including between parked cars and in to the road. I don't know if that means she could get LRM, but we'll see

Fingers crossed as the anxiety it has caused is awful. I will continue to fight if that is what is needed. Just really want to know where we stand.
