DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

That means it been successful you need to call or wait for the letter to find out award. The decline text is different.

What does the decline txt look like ?

As far as I'm aware there is no such thing as a text to say your declined you just receive a letter . You only receive a text if awarded

This has made me more nervous . Hopefully I don’t have to wait to much longer

I never received a text the first time around and my daughter was awarded HRC and LRM. I think it varies or depends on the decision maker.

Someone posted it on a previous thread. It doesn’t say your declined but it reads something else.

He will be 2 next week.
i provided paediatric reports, genetic report, Certificate of visual impairment and orthopaedic reports. He was so young so not much was put on them apart from the vision conditions.
He has since been diagnosed with GDD.
He has oculacuteaneous albinism, has no pigmentation in his hair, eyes and skin which leaves him high risk for skin cancer, severe photophobia where at that age he wasn’t able to go outside and open his eyes! We have to keep him away from windows/doors etc where the UV can enter through. This also affects his vision leaving him severely sight impaired.
i have another son with the same condition, he was awarded MRC as a baby, HRM at 3 and now at 13 he’s on HRC/HRM.
The tribunal were brutal, the DWP representative was thorough and kept repeating’why does that make him needing more care than another child’
It’s been exhausting but I will not give up!
Good luck, hopefully yours will be overturned x

Did the DWP respond to you within the first 4 weeks when you logged the appeal? The deadline is tomorrow and they haven’t responded. I was wondering if it is normal x

Have you heard anything yet mate x

Frankadoodle · 25/02/2025 13:46

@zoeybrooks45 must depend on the decision maker looking at the claim . They never used to send decline messages out . Just messages saying "your child is eligible for DLA" or you don't receive a message at all even if awarded . Think it's luck of the draw .

They used to send texts about receiving forms etc and they don't seem to do that much now either .

I didn't receive a text saying forms had been received but I did receive a letter at 15 weeks saying it was a 15 week wait even though it had been 15 weeks . Even though we all know it's 25 weeks 😂

Frankadoodle · 25/02/2025 13:46

@Glitzxx no I might ring now and see if they have any information for me. I'm feeling really overwhelmed with it all now !

Just after the deadline the tribunal emailed to say they’ve received a comment from DWP, shortly after I recieved a letter to say they’ve received haven’t changed their decision.
you should hear very soon, I also logged on to check via the emails, let us know the outcome 🤞 x

Got through within half an hour . Person I spoke to said a decision is likely to be made within 6 weeks .

He put me on hold for 10 mins to tell me that so I'm not entirely sure if he just made it up .
