DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Congrats ! Awards seem to have picked up since half terms finished now. The end is in sight for a lot of us 🙌

Fingers crossed for you all x

Lulu444 · 24/02/2025 21:22

Congratulations on those that got their awards today, sorry for the ones still waiting/fighting, completely understand the comment about it sometimes feeling like fight after fight in terms of just getting their needs met just to even receive their right to an education, it feels like it never ends sometimes but keep being strong and fighting for our babies rights 💪🏻 just for the new thread - renewal sent on 12th, received on the 13th but not scanned on system yet. Current get HRC LRM but going to try and push for HRM also x

@Lifeiswhatyoumakeit9124 it's hard to say really, the school haven't mentioned directly what support your son receives by them to support anything you may have wrote in your forms.

I don't know if being fidgity is enough care needs, but could get low care but then again I'm no decision maker and you may have more evidence elsewhere in the claim pack x

Very true and yeah, he's also been seen by other services and he has a safety plan ( for when he can't regulate his moods ) which I also sent in with the claim x

Why did they not award tribunal? Sorry to hear that you have been struggling to claim x

My son was 10months old when I first applied, there was not enough evidence to suggest he needed more care than any baby his age.
He is a twin so we can clearly see the difference in care needs but my word wasn’t good enough! My son has a genetic disorder and severely sight impaired, unfortunately it came down to age! They said he will be awarded in the future 🤷🏼‍♀️ x

NC SD 28.10 still no news hopefully won’t be much longer but congratulations on those that been awarded xxxxxx

Hi, I've had a text to say a decision has been made and to wait for a letter. Do they usually say in the text if the claim is successful? Can't ring at the moment as in work and now thinking it might be a decline 😫

Luna12x · 25/02/2025 09:44

Scan date 11/10. New claim. Was awarded yesterday HRC, LRM. Please can anyone help me regarding the universal credit process and adding this? Thank you!

That means it been successful you need to call or wait for the letter to find out award. The decline text is different.

You go on your journal and write you have been awarded from X date and you would like to backdate careers element and disabled child element from original date as DWP were delayed in issuing you an outcome. You usually then recieve a generic message stating it has been sent to decision maker for verification.

I am surprised it wasn’t overturned at tribrunal How old is your child now? What evidence have you provided? I am waiting for my DWP to respond to my appeal the deadline is nearly finished. Sorry to hear that x

He will be 2 next week.
i provided paediatric reports, genetic report, Certificate of visual impairment and orthopaedic reports. He was so young so not much was put on them apart from the vision conditions.
He has since been diagnosed with GDD.
He has oculacuteaneous albinism, has no pigmentation in his hair, eyes and skin which leaves him high risk for skin cancer, severe photophobia where at that age he wasn’t able to go outside and open his eyes! We have to keep him away from windows/doors etc where the UV can enter through. This also affects his vision leaving him severely sight impaired.
i have another son with the same condition, he was awarded MRC as a baby, HRM at 3 and now at 13 he’s on HRC/HRM.
The tribunal were brutal, the DWP representative was thorough and kept repeating’why does that make him needing more care than another child’
It’s been exhausting but I will not give up!
Good luck, hopefully yours will be overturned x

Should be 18th March, DLA gets paid on Tuesdays.

UC were quick with adding DC element too! Done and dusted within a week.

Hi all.
I have a child dla renewal form
DLA1A.
Its not as the long as the original claim form, it doenst go into such detail.
But the covering letter is clear it to claim again, it doesn't say renewal.
This form is much shorter and does ask questions that ask you to give the amount of detail on the original form.
My question is do they, like for a pip review, use all the information from the original application.
Or is this a complete new claim .
If it is why does this new form not ask you the same level of in depth questions?
I keep reading people mistakenly don't put enough info and don't get the same award.
Or is this DLA1A a new recent form?
So confusing and the help line keep cutting me off.
Thanks for advice and support these forms are so stressful.
I wish this new form followed the same format at the original application.
