DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

NC SD 8/11

I hate waiting, I'm not fussed regarding the outcome, I just need to know. We've got on with it for almost 9 years so if its a no, we'll just carry on 🫣

1tiredmam · 24/02/2025 11:33

Still waiting coc 23/9 anyone else? New claims seem to be going a lot quicker than coc or Mr.

KCJ1984 · 24/02/2025 11:39

I got awarded today and I wanted to let you all know as my son doesn't yet have a diagnosis (I know this worried people that they won't get accepted, as it did me) I sent school referral letter for ADHD and an old referral letter from when he was 4 (he's now 9). Good luck everyone x

Daniellefp82 · 24/02/2025 11:40

Fantastic news! Thank you for letting us know, my daughter is on the asd pathway and has been for 2 years so this gives me hope! What was your scan date?

Congratulations on your award. Is this all the evidence you sent?
Gives me a little hope. My daughter is 3 on asd pathways awaiting diagnosis.
Evidence we sent was SALT report, Asd pathways acceptance letter, portage supporting letter. I also have a newer SALT email containing information on what package etc my daughter will be on for her speech and communication which i will be sending in tomorrow. Also sent a care plan from her nursery which she recently started which states “ASD pathway on” but contains all information regarding nappy changing as she is still in nappies full time.
I'm hoping this is enough evidence.

Brilliant news!

I worry I haven't sent enough. I've sent all his school reports, any assessments he's done, his SEN school plan, OT report, ASD initial assessment letter, ENT, Paeds letter for his bowels

We are the unluckiest family so I reckon it'll be a decline 🫣

Trl00 · 24/02/2025 12:12

Hi everyone just thought I would post for anyone waiting for start of October my sons claim was a new claim 9/10 I decided to call today and I'm so glad I did he has been awarded so for anyone waiting around this time hopefully this week 🤞

Justanotherlove · 24/02/2025 12:23

@LB1988x Hi, what evidence did you send please? X

MumOfThreexox · 24/02/2025 12:26

NC SD 17/10 - 19 weeks on Thursday and have heard nothing, other than two seperate letters stating it will be 15 weeks till a decision is made.

LB1988x · 24/02/2025 12:36

Has anyone that has had an mr declined had a dbd385 form submitted? My notice says the form was completed the day before decline, I believe this would be medical evidence, I can’t think who they would have contacted other than the professionals that have backed my application? If it’s the gp he’s never dealt with my child 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

KCJ1984 · 24/02/2025 12:36

Replying to all... yeah that was all the evidence I sent. Also on the forms I wrote about his day to day issues and night time routine struggles. Was a new claim. So the scan date, they had the 5 October, however they got it wrong and should have been the 5th November. Before realising, it had gone to a decision maker (10th Feb), was told this on 20th Feb when i called. The lady insisted on changing the date to the correct date and I was concerned it would then leave the decision maker and get all muddled up. So I called today just to check all was fine and that's when the man I spoke to told me my son had been awarded. I was so shocked

@LB1988x Hi, what evidence did you send please? X

For the MR? I sent a typed up statement cross referencing everything they disagreed with, aswell as all the relevant caselaw, I sent the EHCP, restraint plan and personal plan from school, paediatrician reports, salt and ot, school prospectus showing the level of need children at the school have, I had everything that would indicate he’s entitled but still declined. They’ve actually declined because and I quote “ the evidence indicates that xxxx enjoys being outdoors, can manage new transitions and environments responds to objects of reference and is developing his verbal and non verbal skills. The evidence indicates he is a gentle child. Therefore he doesn’t meet all of the six criteria for smi.” This is for the severe impairment of intelligence point He does love being outdoors as do most children, with reins on or in his pram 🤦🏼‍♀️ evidence shows he can’t manage transitions or new environments, that’s been disregarded clearly 🤣 he is in age bracket 0-6 for his communication despite being almost 6. After 4 years of objects of reference he still rarely engages and shows little progress across the board, But he doesn’t have a severe impairment of intelligence?? Also he’s a gentle child, so what our children have to be monsters with no feelings? Wow this has boiled my piss!

NC 28/10
Awarded HRC & LRM. Took 16 weeks and 2 days which is oddly quick.

Just waiting to see if UC will backdate element.

Am I right in thinking you can only claim carers element once but if on a joint claim my partner could claim it for her?

LB1988x · 24/02/2025 11:25

Sorry to hear your child’s was a decline also. How are you finding the appeal process? I hear it’s a lengthy wait for this part too, It’s frustrating but when you know your child is entitled, with all the evidence to back it, you have to fight. I’m actually relieved that someone with medical knowledge overlooks the appeals because I know we will win. Between this, ehcp appeals and everything else sen related, it’s a constant battle to be heard. I just had a look at the appeal page but gonna wait for my letter, lady on the phone told me the reasons but I believe I need the exact word for word reasons for decline x

I am just appealing the mobility side we was uplifted to HRC on MR from MRC. It’s frustrating most of it was due to age as my child is under 5. Even though we have an ECHP with the highest band, thank god the council didn’t fight me on that as I can imagine it’s draining. Hopefully you get the outcome you want. They haven’t even responded in the first obstacle haha xx

Did you call to ask for update or get a text?

NC 23/10.
i rang up today and was told its with the decision maker when i asked how long its been with them they couldn’t tell me as it doesn’t show how long . Hopefully I hear soon , I got the 25 week talk like everyone is getting lol

fedup1212 · 24/02/2025 13:45

@Glitzxx no text received despite popping number down. I called up to say I'd be sending DDs newly finalised EHCP but she said there was update on the claim and that she'd been awarded.

Thank you @LB1988x I can't see where the change is in the UC pages it says stop caring for someone or take time off for caring someone but not start caring for someone! Confusing.
