DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Not directly related to dla but was just wondering if anyone could help with this… my little boy is 3 and non verbal and significant development delays… he currently attends a nursery attached to a school (mainstream) and he has been on reduced timetable ever since he started, at first he was doing 1.5 hr per day but he was getting overwhelmed so it was reduced to 1 hour per day for several weeks. We then went back up to 1.5 hours for a few weeks and have, since the middle of November, been doing 2 hours per day. Sorry for the rambling post, was just wondering if there is anyone else here who has a child who has asd or suspected asd or similar issues to my son who has a child that is also on
reduced timetable or whether your child attends for their full hours? I obviously don’t want to overwhelm my son if he can’t manage it but just trying to gauge if this situation is the norm. Thank you x

My nearly 3 year old started at 2 hrs and was not in on Thursdays to begin with as they spend the whole sessions out of the setting and they couldn't manage him. He's now in everyday 2.5/3hrs all week. I don't mind as I know he can't cope for the whole session. Diagnosed ASD and GDD

Sunflower1650 · 06/03/2025 12:53

I submitted a new claim for my autistic and dyspraxic DS (5 years old) this morning. I think I made a mistake by sending it to the freepost address. The lady at the post office said that I couldn’t send it recorded delivery with that address :( so I just hope they receive it.

@MistandFog2024 also do they have a SEN plan in place for him and applied for inclusion funding?

Thank you for your reply. Yes we initially enrolled him for 3 hours per day but it became obvious quickly that he wouldn’t manage that. I feel the same I wouldn’t want my son to be there for the full session and be overwhelmed, we were hoping we might have got to 2.5 hours per day with my son having done 2 hours for almost 4 months now but nursery say he isn’t quite ready at the moment.
They do have an sen plan and we have just applied for an EHCNA. He has had the early years inclusion senco in to observe him and they have secured tier 3 funding for him until July this year xx

Been lurking here for a while and not posting but we are the same! So draining now to be honest. I wish they just went through it in date order. Our son’s diagnosis has had a huge financial impact and we could really do with some help with it all!

We are the same 🙁 My application is for my daughter and despite extensive searching I can’t find any people who have applied for similar medical conditions and the wait has felt never ending and I can’t even find reassurance that anything similar has been approved.
If approved the would make such a difference to her and our family life. We are so stretched financially by multiple hospital appointments up in London and all the travel and missed work. We are hoping if approved we could pay privately for some of the therapy she has closer to home and at times that fit around school and work. This would make such a difference to her life. She’s absolutely amazing and gets on with everything, I just wish we could do certain little things to make her life a little easier.

I hope you hear soon too x

Hi I have been watching this site for last few days as I'm waiting on a MR scan date 16/10. I think from what I have heard that you will need to wait until you get your refusal letter and have all reasons etc then it tells you the link to go online to appeal to the tribunal service if you still disagree. Good luck 🤞
