DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@MistandFog2024 its sounds like they are doing as much as they can to support him for now, hopefully he will get his EHCP and it will secure more funding for him. I think it's all going in the right direction anyway. Also the reduced timetable will help evidence why he needs an EHCP.

Been lurking here for a while and not posting but we are the same! So draining now to be honest. I wish they just went through it in date order. Our son’s diagnosis has had a huge financial impact and we could really do with some help with it all!

When is your SD? Mine is 15.10.24. This wait is never ending and I’ve not seen anyone with a close date to mine now. Only been seeing 20th+ dates

@Glitzxx id imagine it was a DM that rang you if they were asking care needs of your son and they had already told you the claim was with a DM.

Plus me and someone else have been awarded and we have the same date as you . So would make sense for it to be with DM and awaiting a decision really soon. I'd say .

Obviously I'm no expert but that's my take on it

I am fuming mr 18/09 been declined again after speaking to me this morning an telling her everythikk
sekt in 19 letters an still said no wot a joke can’t believe it it’s disgusting how do I go about the court thing do I have to wait for a letter or can I start it now

I was told my reasons for decline on the phone but still waited for the letter as when appealing it asks for the office that dealt with it, date etc. also so I could cross reference my evidence with their reasons for decline, sorry to hear yours was a decline x

Not directly related to dla but was just wondering if anyone could help with this… my little boy is 3 and non verbal and significant development delays… he currently attends a nursery attached to a school (mainstream) and he has been on reduced timetable ever since he started, at first he was doing 1.5 hr per day but he was getting overwhelmed so it was reduced to 1 hour per day for several weeks. We then went back up to 1.5 hours for a few weeks and have, since the middle of November, been doing 2 hours per day. Sorry for the rambling post, was just wondering if there is anyone else here who has a child who has asd or suspected asd or similar issues to my son who has a child that is also on
reduced timetable or whether your child attends for their full hours? I obviously don’t want to overwhelm my son if he can’t manage it but just trying to gauge if this situation is the norm. Thank you x

My little one is 3 and a half, he started nursery in November and has struggled too, I was having to attend nursery with him for the first 3 months and he was only lasting 1 hour with me there before he became really overwhelmed. We had to arrange a child planning meeting to discuss how to move forward, in February we started to do 30 minutes with me in the nursery then 30 minutes out and build it up from there, he currently goes in 11 until 2 so he can try having lunch and snack to break the day up a bit but he won't eat anything but a bit fruit. I tend to keep him off 1 day during the week just to have a break as there always a morning where we can't even get out the door because of meltdown after meltdown as he is exhausted with not sleeping great. An educational physiologist came out to see him at nursery and gave the nursery ideas to help settle him better as he sobs as soon as I leave him and ask for me the whole time but I'm hoping with time he will settle a bit better. The nursery are referring him for additional support and possibly a 1-1 so hopefully you get offered some support once you have diagnosis, my little one has his follow up for diagnosis in April so I'm hoping to have some sort of things in place for his preschool year at nursery

Can someone give me some advice pleaee just had a call
of the dm to ask me
se more questions my first claim 14/03/24 declined due to them not going to my evidence just the booklet then losing my evidence so mr done the 18/09/24 24 weeks 3 days now she just rang asking me more questions aswell as the 19 letters I have sent in to say to me they have insite doctors she might ask them to look at her clim or she wil se if she as enough to made a decision how long does it take when you had that call she said 10 days but that will make 27 weeks not 25 weeks

Look out for DBD385 used in evidence when you receive your letter.. they had an “inside” health professional look at our claim and we were declined next day. I’ve used this in my appeal as this person has never met my child and no one from dla bothered to call me or the professionals working with my child. When I questioned this yesterday I was told naff all so I’m using it against them x

We are also waiting for the educational psychologist to come in. So far he has only been seen by the early years inclusion team who have approved additional funding for him. They are saying that he will also get transition funding for September when he starts in reception and that he is very likely to get 1:1 support for the whole time that he is there so it seems like things are very slowly falling into place. Hope your little boy settles in well too xx
