Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I've been anxious the last week thinking mines has too, SD 21/10, phoned up last Wednesday still not with decision maker, Im going to wait until the end of the week and phone back again as my little one has a doctors appointment friday so with the outcome of that I'm hoping to send more evidence and some updates because he's a lot worse than in September when I applied, fingers crossed for you, hopefully you hear something soon🤞🏽

@Glitzxx I originally thought it was 25 weeks from when you applied so was wondering what happened as would be 25 weeks this week, as someone I know applied a week after me and was awarded at the beginning of February so honestly don't know what's going on🙈

Its 25 weeks from the scan date 😫 i dont either they should go in date order i think as its unfair that people are still waiting from earlier dates yet theres later dates being awarded 🤷‍♀️

crb12345 · 03/03/2025 22:12

@Glitzxx I wonder if there's always some sort of backlog every year for people applying at the time of year we did, I've seen people wait 5 months max from when they applied at the beginning of last year , if it takes 25 weeks from my scan date that would be 7 months altogether, a long time for people to wait and stress and then could possibly be declined and wait even more time for a reconsideration😬 think they need to come up with some sort of online system so people can check the progress and update evidence as they wait X

Yeah i agree they really do its crazy how long the wait is :( i hope its not much longer for us im getting annoyed with it all now 🤣

Hello lovelies,
Not strictly DLA-but related.
Finally got my youngest’s DLA sorted. MRC (NC 22/10) Quick question; If I claim Carers Allowance, and it gets deducted from Universal Credit, is there any point in claiming in the first place? Does anyone just claim the carers element from UC instead? I understand CA is deducted £ for £ from UC. Just seems pointless? Any advice would be appreciated!!!

I claim carers allowance even though it is deducted £ for £ from uc I like to have this weekly payment coming in.

candywoo · 04/03/2025 00:14

@Asle1979 you get NI credit with carers allowance but not with the UC element.

NC SD 29/10 still nothing yet. Hopefully this week, good luck to everyone 🤞🤞

Frankadoodle · 04/03/2025 07:57

NC 29/10 I'm absolutely convinced now I'm going to get a decline 😞 it is what it is but il keep fighting for my little one if I do .

I think it's the not knowing the outcome ! If I knew it was a decline I'd be ok with it ! And just take the next steps .

Frankadoodle · 04/03/2025 08:55

@Monstermashermashedthemonster I never knew you could get carers allowance weekly I've always received it monthly for my older son . I don't think I was ever given an option to receive it weekly

GJWills · 04/03/2025 09:00

Hi all, long time lurker. Nc SD 16/10/24 still no news. Rang to check extra evidence I sent in February was received last week and was told its still in queue, 25 weeks blah blah.. But I can see they have moved on to November dates now so I'm a bit concerned. Is it bad we haven't heard? I don't really have another excuse to call and check.

Daughter is 4 in May and has a ASD diagnosis (very lucky to get it so early, she has been involved with services since 12 months old). Sent her diagnosis letter, report from the nursery which was used to apply for EHCP along with evidence they sent for that, Salt reports and portage report. I'm worried I didn't explain her needs well enough on the booklet though. Her sleep is really disturbed and she has meltdowns through out the day and night but not sure that came across well enough.

Worried that as later claims are starting to be awarded its likely a no. Keep hoping to see a payment or a text come through everymorning, but nothing.

Hya. With my eldest sons dla application only sent in 2 audiology letters confirming he had moderate hearing loss in both ears and was awarded 15 week later. That was end of last year. And I applied for my youngest son in October last year but included loads and loads of evidence, all support workers he has, referral letters from doctor, letter from crèche, classes he attends etc and I’ve been posting updated evidence since that as well. Apparently the more evidence they have the longer it takes for the decision because there’s a lot more to go through. That’s what I’ve been told anyway. So don’t worry too much. Especially if you have included lots of evidence and have been sending more in. Because it get scanned on and put back into the que again.

my NC scan date is 28/10

Glitzxx · 04/03/2025 09:20

Ive just rang and a lovely lady told me i shiuld be hearing soon i thought i was 18 weeks in but she told me 19 weeks in my scan date was the 29/10/24 so would it be 18 or 19 🤣

Thank you for your reply, that makes sense. I just can't believe how long the process takes. So frustrating for us all! I'm glad one of your little ones has been awarded and I'm wishing you luck for the second

Scaffwife · 04/03/2025 09:24

I just called again ….coc scan date 17.10 advised still in the que ….renewal form sent in two weeks ago (for May) still not scanned in but proof of delivery says delivered 😬 ..lady advised they will more than likely do the renewal at time of coc so she said up to a further five more weeks 😭😭😭

KazzaW1984 · 04/03/2025 09:26

I'm 2 days after you and I'm just about to hit 18 weeks🤣. It's getting rather disheartening though seeing all these awards before and after our dates

Scaffwife · 04/03/2025 09:47

How long do they take to scan in renewal forms should I be worried they have had it 9 working days and it’s not been scanned in
My proof of delivery says delivered?!

Frankadoodle · 04/03/2025 09:49

@Glitzxx this is why we can't pay attention to what they say on the phone 😂
