Hi everyone, I sent my sons renewal off on the 4th Feb special delivery i can see they recieved it on the 5th. I rang the week after and asked if they recieved it she said she can confirm they recieved the renewal forms on the 5th of Feb.
Renewal runs out may, does anyone know how long this usually takes? It's my first renewal and I'm really anxious! I have sent in a fair amount of evidence.

Thanks in advance

I have heard they usually do the award just before it runs out. I’m currently expecting my sons renewal form next week, are the forms the same as the original form or smaller / shorter forms?

Mumof2boys11 · 16/02/2025 22:35

@Mummyof5kiddos
Hey, they are slightly shorter but still need to treat it like a new claim. The boxes are alot smaller so I did supporting word document of the struggles my son had..
I do worry I don't have alot of evidence. It's such a daunting wait time isn't it. X

As pp said, renewals are often done just before the end date.

Is anyone else's renewal due in may and heard back already?
I'm on a fb group and a few people are due their renewal end of may and have heard already, I'm beginning of may and knowing my luck I'll hear during the week of renewal or after 😂
Evidence I've sent is.
Diagnosis report (adhd)
Awaiting asd assesment
Ot sensory plans
Sendco statement
Family intervention statement (stating safety plan)
Adhd nurse letters
Childs passport from school.
Additional information from me
Ed physc report
Camhs referral from ot.
He's just been accepted a ehcp awaiting draft copy.
Should I send a letter of his attence? To show he is late every morning? And a copy of email to show he's been accepted for ehcp, the family intervention team did put in their letter he's been accepted for ehcp but should I add the email from local authority?

Thanks everyone

If the LA has agreed to issue an EHCP, I would send the draft as long as isn’t a very poor draft that contradicts elements of the claim.

On its own evidence of being late wouldn’t help. You could be late for any reason. Your other evidence is stronger.

Mumof2boys11 · 18/02/2025 14:57

@StrivingForSleep
I've already sent everything. The only thing I haven't is the email confirming ehcp which they have said they will be drafting over the next few weeks. So I don't actually have the draft yet. And I haven't sent my sons attendance off with a letter stating its 68%. Would it be worth sending those untill i recieve the draft? Renewal is up beginning of may? Thanks for your help

StrivingForSleep · 18/02/2025 19:37

If you don’t have a draft EHCP yet personally I wouldn’t send the email because a) the LA could still yet refuse to issue and b) you have already given the same evidence via the family intervention team and you should look at quality of evidence not quantity.

If you haven’t already mentioned DS’s attendance, you can send evidence of that off, but a low attendance or late marks alone wouldn’t change the DLA rate. The other evidence you have sent is stronger evidence.

Hi has anyone sent back a renewal form DLA1A?

Its very different shorter, less in depth than the original claim form.

I'm worried it doesn't allow me to go into the detail I gave before and will then potentially affect the award if I don't go into enough detail.

Or do they make use of the information from the original application and decision as well as info in the renewal form?

And how long do I have to fill it in and return it.
The original award ends mid may and im really unwell and struggling to get it done.

Thanks

StrivingForSleep · 28/02/2025 14:10

There isn’t a deadline as such, but you should return the form as soon as possible. Don’t rely on the information in the original claim being looked at. If you need more space, use additional sheets.

From what I've seen they typically complete the renewal between your last payment and the renewal date. Mine is due on the 4th May and no updates yet

Mumof2boys11 · 24/04/2025 23:07

@StanleyParents have you heard anything yet? I've seen on a fb group people have heard for the 30th of may and for the 2nd of may! But I rang today and still not decision.

My son's current DLA award is due to expire in two weeks' time and I sent in his claim for renewal at the end of January. Does anyone have any recent experience of whether or not the renewal decision is made before the current award expires?

StrivingForSleep · 15/05/2025 12:44

In the vast majority of cases, renewals are completed before the end date. Although sometimes it is very close. In the occasional cases the renewal doesn’t get done in time, in the majority of cases, it is because the forms haven’t been returned until very late.

Iwanttobreakfree2 · 18/05/2025 15:19

@StrivingForSleep Thank you for your reply. Still no decision, but I sent the completed renewal form off at the end of January, so hopefully a decision will be made before the current claim expires on 31st May.

StrivingForSleep · 18/05/2025 19:14

@Iwanttobreakfree2 if you haven’t heard by the end of this week, I would call. There would still be time for your claim to be looked at but calling can draw attention to it.

Iwanttobreakfree2 · 26/05/2025 12:06

@StrivingForSleep Thank you for the advice. I called them last Thursday and a decision still hadn't been made. Still no news as of yet and the current claim expires in five days time!

StrivingForSleep · 26/05/2025 15:18

Don’t panic. There is still time. I know renewals decided the day before the claim runs out.

Crumbold90 · 05/06/2025 10:02

Has anyone heard back from June renewals? My first time doing a renewal so I don't know how it works. My Sons dla is due to end 23rd June. Do they contact you either way ?

Crumbold90 · 06/06/2025 14:11

It’s my first renewal too. I’ve heard they usually do them a few days before they run out. I’m so anxious my sons runs out 19th x

Crumbold90 · 09/06/2025 12:18

I’ve just phoned them no decision as of yet

Gardenfence22 · 09/06/2025 12:42

My daughter’s runs out today. Phoned this morning and decision still not been made. Starting to panic now as Friday I phoned and was told it was with case manager but this morning when I mentioned this he said I shouldn’t of been told that it can take 2-3 months 😫
