DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi, new to this I’m just after some advice on a few things I’ve just sent off for dla for my daughter who is 2.10 yrs old I’m currently waiting on a rewind with paediatrician for possible asd+ additional needs, developmental delay, currently waiting on speech and language appointment which is next week as my daughter can only say 3 words, we also had a hearing test which came back as mild hearing loss in both ears however had another hearing test review a couple of days ago and they said her results wasn’t as good as the first test and said she has glue ear referral put to ent, she is currently waiting to see a dietician as she always been hard to feed she hips gags and will be sick at certain textures and will pint blank refuse to eat, she has to be supported with all needs as has no understanding and cannot communicate verbally at all she has major meltdown she has sleeping issues every night I’m up and down and has no awareness of any dangers at all if we go out she will refuse to walk to the point she will throw herself on the floor hysterically and hit out! The evidence I have sent so far is senco teacher report hearing test report the referral for peadiacritics the referral for speech and language the support plan she has in place at nursery do you think this will be enough evidence I have wrote as much as I can about her daily and night needs. The health visitor has done me a supporting letter and I should hopefully get the report from speech and language and I will also have a report regarding the new hearing result to send at some point too but I’m panicking what if it’s all still not enough evidence, sorry it’s a long post any advise would be appreciated

Hello lovely people, im just enquiring if anyone have ever made a claim for DCD/dyspraxia. My son has been referred to OT and has had a paediatric assessment and they mentioned adhd (but won't test because he's 5) and definitely think it's DCD, he is the clumsiest child you will ever meet actually had horns because of the numerous forehead bumps 🫣😂 and has to be supervised constantly even in schoo l- any advice welcome

Hi I've listed DCD as part of my childs application too, not really got any advice as its a new claim and I've no idea myself how it all works 😅
Have you put your forms in yet or still filling them in?

My child was awarded for hearing loss due to glue ear at 2. I think you will be fine. They probably give a short award though. We did have hearing aids while awaiting surgery Carrying on from that grommets and adenoid surgery has been a life saver! No gagging 2 years later. No speech aswell but that’s because diagnosed ASD now. (: hope that helps!

Currently trying to get through to option 4 to add some changes over the phone & its been 50mins 😩 Never spoke to anyone through this option & not even sure if its the right depart for this lol but i've read all the positive calls from people on here so here we go..IF i get through to someone before the lines close!

Tayyy24 · 24/01/2025 16:59

Thankyou, I’m hoping next week at speech and language I will get some help because it’s so hard she is so very challenging they are on about fitting my daughter grommits too so I hope that will be a real help because I know she is really struggling with her peers at nursery and nursery has said this is a major concern for them, did your child come along with speech with them involved

Congrats on the award!! Same scan date as me, hopefully we’ll hear soon. Rang yesterday and she said it’s near the top of the list, think we’ll have another week or 2 to wait 😩

Thank you.
I called yesterday, thru said it was not allocated and would take 5 more weeks.
hopefully you hear from them next week. X

Tayyy24 · 24/01/2025 17:04

Sorry misread about speech, it’s so hard isn’t it because it’s constantly a guessing game and if your not quick enough it can be so distressing for them,I sent the form recorded delivery on Tuesday it was delivered Wednesday I don’t know how long it takes to be scanned onto system how long it’s all taking and I don’t understand the scan date thing I’m just hoping I may get some help so if I have to I can go private with her and get her the additional things to help and support x

OneCosyBluePombear · 24/01/2025 17:19

My scan date 13/9 I rang Monday was told not been allocated could take up to 25 weeks. Does everyone that gets awarded receive a text I’m worried mines been declined reading that others after my date have already been awarded.

Not sent the the forms in yet, I've spent a year fighting for my daughters dla, we only got awarded on Monday, after 22/23 week MR. I now have the head space to sort things for my son, trying to chase OT referral, with the dcd and possible ADHD I figured I better start this one now as I know it could be 20 weeks or 6,985 days depending on case managers work load 😂 i looked it up on the dla website and its there, adhd can take so long via nhs, I will have to go down right to choose but will need to speak to his doctor first 😫 after the referral for my daughter has gone through.

Haloh · 24/01/2025 17:25

Though I'd share. Scan date 11/9. With DM Tuesday. Received a text this afternoon that we have been awarded. Thanks for updated etc everyone whilst iv been waiting

No not everyone gets a text.

mines 12/09 and was with a dm on Wednesday and I haven’t heard anything yet and it’s driving me mad 😂

Devilindisguise1979 · 24/01/2025 15:03

My application was declined because my child doesn’t need help with personal care for an hour. They have completely ignored all of his other needs.
he is awaiting an ADHD assessment and has had CAHMS involvement and intervention at school due to his other needs.
not really sure where I go from here!

Was this a NC? If it was do a MR.
Ask for a statement of reasons. I got one and went through and noted where to find the evidence.

We're currently waiting for our MR outcome so can't say if it will work.

ASD waiting list since April 2024.
CAMHS involvement (4 referrals to them in 4 years)
School therapies every year since reception.
4 year history of SH.

Had LRC and LRM 2022 - 2024 for no ASD and only the first CAMHS referral, 1 year of SH and reception to year 3 of school therapy.

Edited

hi! The scan date is the date they ‘scanned the form’ at their end .. effectively putting it onto their system. If you called for forms and filled them out by the date it said on the form you will be back paid to that date but regardless of this your scan date is still the date they scanned the forms in not the date you rang them, hope that makes sense x

Congratulations on your daughters award! At least you sort of know the process now for your sons application. I wish I'd of found this thread before putting my daughter application in, there's so much that didn't even occur to me to include and I think I've messed it all up.

She is waiting for a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, DCD. She's diagnosed whith hypermobility and has a deviated achilles, she's chronically constipated, its a refusal to go not a 'medical issue' and she only goes once a week which is traumatic every time. Same with wees, she doesnt go all day so is still in pull ups at night (she's 7) that she wets through. Her continence issues are all sensory based and she's under the continence team but all they do is prescribe medication which she refuses to take. She was discharged from physiotherapy because they said her hypermobility is ongoing and we can do play therapy at home to strengthen her joints. They gave insoles for her deviated achilles but thats it. Oh and I asked GP about OT they said its schools that send referral for that, so spoke to school but nothings happened.

Sorry long winded post but basically shes not receiving any therapies from professionals and doesn't yet have her diagnoses so I'm not holding much hope that she will be awarded. We do have Ed psych report, EHCP, IEP, Continence Team report and supporting letters from GP, Holiday club, and a local charity that supports families with send children who helped us for a while. So we might possibly have enough for the care side, but I don't think it will be enough evidence for mobility even though we can't go anywhere without her having a sensory meltdown, throwing herself on the floor or doubling over in pain with her stomach or stopping and complaining that her legs hurt. I definitely feel like I will need to do an MR too so any tips throw them my way! 😊

Omg I can’t believe it’s not even with a decision maker yet 🙈I know they think you stupid it’s 23 weeks on Tuesday for ours

I’m the day after. Hopefully we have only have less than 2 and a half weeks left of this agony. If they refused to change the rates, I might explode! I doubt they will but you never know do you 🫠

I was so hoping they’d have at least passed it to a DM when I called today. It worse knowing it hadn’t even been laid eyes upon yet, I think.

23 weeks on Wednesday, trying my best to keep my head on 🫠

Thank you, and yes sort of know now 😂 what I've found our since i started this whole DLA journey is that it is not always about diagnosis it's about how much extra care your child needs above thier peers, so as long as you've documented ie wrote all the evidence from you about her care needs, the rest is a bonus. As long as you have noted how much extra time you have to spend on her care and the constraints of mobility amd extra time becauseof the mobility issues you'll be fine. I phoned and told them that I'm not able to go out to do shopping and everything has to be done online because she will becomes overwhelmed and overstimulated in shops and can melt down for 45 minutes or more. Having to plan extra time to go places, encouragement to dress, how many time you get up in the night etc etc. From what you've wrote it sounds like you have a very good chance. Honestly, if you think of something you didn't put down, phone them and ask to note extra evidence 😊

B2B25 · 24/01/2025 20:44

I think I just have filled the form out a bit wrong. DD15 has potential ASD (awaiting assessment) she is unable to attend school, doesn't leave the house, has food issues. I do have to encourage and prompt her an awful lot but I don't have to do her personal care and now I've seen that is a reason for rejection. Sad

She's just been granted an EHCP and I sent the EP report and pathway acceptance letter as evidence as well as having our support worker do the supporting statement. I really hope it's enough.
