DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

This is the first time I put in a claim for my Son.I could have done this a while back but didn't know he didn't need a diagnosis. He is on the waiting list for ADHD assessment with CAMHS.
The school have been really supportive with the form though,so I do have that to be thankful for and it was them that put in the referral.

Same! The school were the ones that helped me with the referral but I’m still not sure if he will get awarded as he can also mask quite well.. I guess I’ll find out in the next week or two!

Hopefully you get the outcome you are hoping for.The wait is awful,I have been reading on here for a while the closer you get to a decision, the worse the wait is.And it is so very true!!x

I agree. I’ve been through this process twice (one new claim, then renewal) and I find that it’s only from about week 16/17 that I start thinking about the outcome / getting impatient. I barely even thing about it until then!!! Hope you to also get he outcome you want - I will def be updating the forum! X

SD 31/10 my child already gets mrc but because he turned 5 in November I had to do a whole new claim if wanted to go for mobility, hope I made the right choice going for it

Hi, has anyone had any issues with the rate due to age? My little girl got rewarded MRC in June 2024 she was 8 month old at the time. She’s now 16 months old and got registered blind at the end of September so I did a change of circumstances. I’m just worrying her rate will stay the same due to her age but she also has other complex needs. At the time I also said her night routine was the same there was no changes. Now she does not sleep. She can stay awake from 11 until 4:30am and this can be a daily. From googling it looks like it can be something to do with her medication but I have no confirmation of this yet. I sent her claim off about 13 weeks ago and there taking about 20 weeks atm if I wanted to inform dla of her nights can I do this over the phone or will I have to write to them?
any help would be appreciated 🙂

From what I've seen on these pages it's best to write a sleep journal and send that in as extra evidence and just write a cover letter why you're sending it in x

You can always send off extra evidence. You need to focus on the fact you have to stay awake to keep her safe/help with bodily functions during the night. This can be a bit more difficult cause 18 months old sometimes don’t sleep properly yet. Maybe supporting evidence from consultant/GP about medication.

That’s a great idea thankyou! Last night she slept from 9:30 until 11:30, fell back asleep at 3/3:15 untill 3:50 and has only just gone back to sleep half an hour ago!! She only had 1 nap during the day yesterday too but it’s becoming an everyday thing and has been on going for months. I genuinely cannot remember the last time she slept a full night😅x

Thankyou, she’s also tube fed and has medication that has to given during the night so I have to stay awake to monitor that anyway but I genuinely cannot remember the last time she slept a full night. Last night she did 9:30-11:30 then awake till 3/3:15 slept until 3:50 and has only just gone back to sleep half an hour ago, she only has 1 nap during the day too and yesterday I think it was only for an hour or so about dinner time. I’m going to ring her doctor today and see if they think if it’s linked to her medication or if I should make a doctors appointment, she’s also blind so I’ve read that can cause sleep problems too. I’m going to try get as much evidence this week as possible and hopefully it will be enough 🤞🏼xx

Either Wednesday or tomorrow. I mean some banks are faster than others. I receive my regular DLA payments tomorrow anyways so that’s probably why. x

If she is registered blind she would automatically be entitled to higher mobility. My son is registered slightly visually impaired and they explained if he was registered blind he would have met the criteria for high. Also as for care if she is blind but everything else you have mentioned you should meet higher care.

Just got off the phone to DLA a decision was made on theb1st February but they can't tell me over the phone got to wait 7-10 days for the letter so I'm assuming this is a decline!

You can call back on option 4 and they'll tell you the outcome. What was your scan date x

B2B25 · 03/02/2025 09:36

@Stacey0909 backpay usually goes in on the 3rd working day (but can be anywhere from 3 to 5 working days)

I'd expect to see it tomorrow but give it until Thursday.

We got our UC backpay today for disabled child element. Quite impressed with how quick they are! I had heard negative things.

ShesTheBadAss11 · 03/02/2025 09:36

Scared to ring again I've told myself it was a decine. But I'm going to have to not knowing is the worst feeling ever atleast if it's a decline I can start MR . Scan date was 30/09 x

Kirstygingee · 03/02/2025 09:38

Scan date 27/09 just been told there's no update and to wait till the end of march x

ShesTheBadAss11 · 03/02/2025 09:40

Ringing back now . Do I say I know a decision has been made or do I ask for n update and act like I don't know lol x

Invinsibubblality · 03/02/2025 09:41

Thankyou! Shes only 16months old so she cannot get the mobility yet but I’m hoping her care goes up, she’s got lots of other additional complex needs too but I’ve seen so many people say they’ve had problems due to age😢

Oh sorry I missed her age, at least once she is older you know she is entitled to what you both deserve. It is just unfair how they are declined due to age when those needs aren't due to age they are due to complex needs. Really hope you are awarded what you deserve for her x
