@Tasham25 think I'm too scared to phone!

Phone! You never know it worked for me! Your next to get awarded

I phoned Friday and they just said it was still in the queue. No indication of it being soon etc so not sure it's worth me phoning today. Had a really rubbish call handler both times I've called and it's put me off.

There was no update for me Friday! But I rang this morning to be told decision was made at 9.10 this morning

Well done to all those who have had successful claims. Our scan date is 18th/9 so still a long wait yet. Nf1 with a large spinal mass, scoliosis, wears a spinal brace. Lots of other complications from the condition but not feeling hopeful she will be awarded.

Long time lurker here, but just logged in to say I had a scan date of Fri 26 July and on Fri 6 Dec I noticed £1,935 into my bank account marked with a reference that included "DWP / DLA"

Totally shocked - claiming for care only and not mobility so can hardly believe that it might actually be higher rate. I was scared of total rejection, and barely hoped for lower rate. I am so relieved I almost stopped breathing.

The timing couldn't be better - I was starting to worry about the heating again. My ASD child feels freezing all the time anyway, so actual winter is a challenge (especially in a poorly insulated rented home, where all the heat flies out of the walls as soon as it's generated anyway).

However, no letter so far, so I don't feel I can relax until I see it. I also don't think I can add it to my UC claim without the letter and the date from which they've approved it? I hope this is an easy process - I wonder how long it takes for it to get added to the UC claim and I wonder if they backdate it also... and if so how long that takes?

My child is 14 so I guess we will just receive this help for 24 months but it's going to keep us afloat for a while.

For those with a SD in last week of July, I think it's our turn - that's 19 weeks from SD to payment date for us.

Details of the DLA award will be on the central information system so you can update Universal Credit so long as you know the rate, also for carers element.

addies · 09/12/2024 10:38

@Tasham25 will phone asap. How long was your award for?

addies · 09/12/2024 10:55

Same old crap for me. Call again at 20 weeks if I haven't heard anything. She was really unhelpful, wouldn't tell me if it was with a decision maker, just more rubbish about it being in a queue. She was ages looking things up after I answered the security questions so I thought there might be an update but she just read off a script. I asked if she could check if I would get a text and she just said yes straight away and could tell she hadn't checked a thing. I was very friendly throughout as I know that's how you get the best of people but I feel like screaming.

I did notice that they have now changed the options when you call so that it no longer says 20 weeks, it now says 25.

SD 12/08 called and it’s still in a queue for a DM. 17 weeks today. Was told they have up till 30/12 x

she requested a text message to be sent when a decision has been made.. won’t hold them to that tho lol x

Reoa2 · 09/12/2024 11:20

Hello, I just started following this group. My scan date was 06/08, and I was under the impression that I would have a decision by tomorrow since I was told it typically takes around 18 weeks. However, I called today for the first time and was informed that I won't hear anything until the end of January or the first week of February. has this been the same for everyone.

addies · 09/12/2024 11:25

@Reoa2 most people seem to be waiting 19-20 weeks at the moment. My scan date is 29/07 and still in the queue to be looked at.

MissKaya · 09/12/2024 11:28

NC SD: 27/7 (19 wk 2days). I caved and called today. Decision was made on 4th. They said to wait for the letter, but I asked to be put through to someone who could tell me, which they did. My daughter has been awarded HRC 😭🥳 They told me the back payment should be in tomorrow.

She wasn't awarded Mobility, as she's 2 almost 3, and wouldn't qualify for HRM.

Wishing you all the best of luck, and to hear some good news for your kiddies before Christmas xx

Emat19833 · 09/12/2024 11:30

I’ll wait now until yours has been allocated funny how ours is going on date order but others aren’t

Honestly. The lady on the phone said I won’t have a decision before 25 weeks. I said funny that others have been awarded after me and other slightly before me before 25 weeks🤔 but knowing my luck it will probably take the full 25weeks

Reoa2 · 09/12/2024 12:08

Heyyyy, I was just wondering after DLA has been awarded, what can you claim with universal credit

Disable child element, and if MRC or hrc you can get carers element.

So would i just write in my journal that I was would like to claim theese and are they backdated?

Report a change children who live with you, put that they receive which ever award, then report change caring for someone. Then ask in your journal for disability element and carers element to be backdated to the beginning of your award date. Reason for reporting late is you’ve only just received decision x
