Hey everyone. Does anyone know how long renewals are taking to be processed these days? My son’s DLA claim is due to end at the beginning of next year, so is it about the right time now for me to start getting a claim form and sending it off?

Edited

They will do it a few days before or by the time it ends, from what I know on here that's what I have seen

Anxiouslywaitingmum · 03/10/2024 14:17

@bolopast when are you calling?? I received back pay today so it's all a bit more real now xx

They sent me a form for renewal around 5 months before the award was due to end.

ive had appointments at the hospital with my son and they’ve diagnosed him with tics - I don’t know wether sending that diagnosis letter in is worth it wether it will add any extra evidence for his claim or if it’s just sending it for the sake of sending it ? Xx

edit. He’s 13 xxx

I should receive one any time soon then. His award is due to end on the 25th February which is around 5 months away.

Maybe call up as they have to escalate it then within a few days, but they always say they can't say how long it will take

That's brilliant and really quick aswell 😃 I can just imagine how much of a weight lifted you must feel 😊
I'm going to try again tomorrow. I have a feeling deep down its a decline again, but I'm trying to stay positive 🤞 but I think if it is, I will just go back to the start and reapply, as I feel that will be quicker than tribunal, which I heard could be up to another year 🫣

Nothing funny about a bunch of desperate parents, trying to support one another and make a really horrible anxious wait less mentally painful.

MrsW12 · 03/10/2024 19:50

I was only going to say earlier that after looking at some of the threads on Mumsnet, how lovely and supportive this one is compared to the others.

Ash900 · 03/10/2024 20:52

Anyone know if applications are just as busy during summer holidays? My scan date is September 12th and I know it’s wishful thinking but what I’m thinking is maybe people would wait until kids are back at school to get evidence etc from the school before applying? So I’d like to think they’ll get through July/August scan dates quicker? 😂

They were basically taking the mickey out of us having a thread for this subject. Believe me, I’d rather have a child that wasn’t struggling in life and not have to claim. Especially being neurodivergent myself and knowing what a crippling affect it has on everyday existence x

That’s awful :( my wish for all of us is that we don’t have children who need this money but we do! So we have to fight for our children so that they get what they deserve so their quality of life can be improved. What kind of weirdo mocks parents for doing the best for their children ffs xx

She said her friend works for them. And her friend told her that parents make threads online about waiting times. So the poster came on the thread to say, “Wow so it is true! Haha”

So basically they were laughing about parents supporting each other during a very long anxious wait to see if their children are going to get the support they deserve. Really weird behaviour.

Mommy2boys30 · 04/10/2024 09:50

Very quiet this week on awards on here, any end of May dates still waiting

AmberScroller · 04/10/2024 09:57

I thought the same haven’t heard any awards for a while

Fighter1993 · 04/10/2024 10:17

Scan date 29/5 still waiting, the more time goes on the more I think decline 🥲 if it's a decline is a letter the first thing il receive or do they still do a text does anyone know?

AnneD96 · 04/10/2024 10:32

31/5 still waiting phoned again today they said not to call back before 18th as it’s now taking 20-25 weeks for new claims 😳😳

yeah she said she thought her friend was having a joke, so they obviously, for some reason?, found it hilarious that we have a thread to find out how long of a wait it goes. maybe the joke should be the lack of information and transparency over where we are in a queue, and how many people are declined depsite needing enormous support for their children.

it has seemed so quiet and this is around the time I felt for sure I'd have heard by. I'm 3rd June, and have only heard a couple of June dates get approved so far, but they seem to be for COC or MR.

I'm wondering if maybe there's lulls because someone else does the admin after the decision makers makes a bunch of decisions? Maybe they have a whole load of cases to upload to the system and then hit out the letters and texts and backpays to be processed all at once?

31/5 here too ….. I was told the same, it’s so horrible waiting isn’t it 😔 especially when I'm
seeing some June dates getting their decisions, it makes me so on edge every day.
