18 weeks today, scan date 23/5 and still patiently but anxiously waiting!!!! I’m feeling apprehensive about it all now, questioning whether I’ve sent enough info. It’s a long time to wait for a decline and will be so deflated for my child.

Dunwaiting · 26/09/2024 14:44

@MrsW12 maybe its a new thing there doing💁🏻‍♀️

Can I ask for those on MR, are they for new claims that got rejected or for wrong rates etc? X

Our MR was for Rejection 😒

Same scan date, called yesterday said was with DM and to call back today, I did and was told the info I was given yesterday was wrong and wait 20weeks. I feel the same as you very anxious thinking have I provided enough evidence.

OK, this a new one on me..
Anyone been refused mobility because your child is verbal? X

The one and only reason they gave was care needs didn't exceed an hour! We was flabbergasted and really don't understand how they came up with that from our application and the extra pages of needs. So listed it all again and extra in the MR, because it really felt like they had somehow lost 90% of the application 😔

It's a long road to go down, but it's what we need to do to try get our children what they deserve. I wonder if sometimes they decline or give lower rates with hope we will accept that and not take it no further 🤔

Exactly this! I've been rejected for higher rate mobility under smi rules...because my son is verbal. 🤔🤔🫣🫣 I don't think they looked at the other 80 or so pages of evidence. X

Hi does anyone know once uc have agreed special circumstances apply how long it takes for them to calculate and release payment please xx

I don’t think being verbal has anything particularly to do with it. It’s more so around child’s mental capacity to follow instructions and be able to travel safely. There are different rates under SMI you need HRC for VUW you will need at least MRC. Proof can be lengthy as each needs to meet the flowchart requirements. Its headache isn’t it x

Yes it's sooo stressful. He has hrc already and a blue badge too. I firmly believe he meets the requirements for smi rules...but there answer was "I don't think he qualifies as severely mental impairment as he can hold a short conversation"... he can't follow instructions and needs them breaking down and prompting throughout..he has sen room daily at school, full time 1 to 1, help with person care etc etc...the list goes on and on.. He's nearly 11 x

To be honest, I expected a refusal...just not for that reason. X

They probably just looked through the application and glanced at anything extra and I recon because they are so busy this is happening alot now to us to try get through the piles as quickly as possible, but it has now caused the MR to be backlogged now aswell.
I would definitely resend everything in again, make sure you put your reference number on every page incase they did get misplaced before and tag them all together.
I did read on here there is a risk that you could have your sons award lowered or declined though through challenging the awards 😔

Moanalot6 · 26/09/2024 17:46

Yes I think they have having to rush through them. Everywhere is backlogged for sen at the moment. But like u say, not taking the time at first is now affecting MRs. I'm going to resend everything again and high light the points where he fits criteria. (They said its all on system so i dont need to but im going to anyway.)I did send a lot of info so maybe they just rushed it. But it all relates to his needs. With all the cut backs and costs etc.. I can't see application time frames and workload improving any time soon either. X

Mines new claim that got rejected

Dunwaiting · 26/09/2024 20:30

Please please can someone help me I’m so confused over uc carers and back payments. my daughter was awarded middle rate care and low mobility, my question is can I ask for back pay from carers allowance? And if I can will uc then take off 20 weeks of carers allowance off my claim? I’m so confused and getting myself right in a mess as I really have no idea what I’m doing, I’m going to put in my journal tomorrow about her reward and date it started and ask for back pay but confused about carers allowance. Sorry for the ramble if someone could break it down simple for me Ild much appreciate it🫣

So you can get carers element and the disabled element from UC back dated.
Then if you claim carers allowance and ask for that back dated UC will take it £for£ straight back of you, so however much carer allowance you get UC will take the same back of you so it's like for like

Dunwaiting · 27/09/2024 07:23

@mummy2boys30 so it’s best not to ask for carers to be back dated just start it from the day you claim?

MrsW12 · 27/09/2024 07:45

I don’t claim carers. I didn’t think it was worth it

Thank you. Both myself and husband stood there and reread the letter over and over, just to make sure we was reading it correctly. Was very frustrated and sad, but got the MR sent off same day and now we wait and wait....🫣

VP2024 · 27/09/2024 09:34

Finally got the text this morning to say we have been accepted! So so happy.

scan date 21/5
not sure when back pay will be processed

Is it worth calling to find out the details? X
