@Franbob You will get a letter in the post to say they received it and that will have tour scan date on

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2024 18:31

Did anyone with the 29/04 (or that week) have their 'sorry you're still waiting' text I've seen mentioned on other threads today? I thought you got one when it's your 15th / 16th week?

KimberlyJo83 · 12/08/2024 18:35

scan date 30/04
called today and was told that I would be waiting until end of August-beginning of Sept!

Franbob · 12/08/2024 18:35

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2024 18:30

When was it signed for, @Franbob? my acknowledgment letter took 3 weeks to arrive.

It was only the 2nd of August so I guess I shall wait for the letter.
in the mean time of sending it I have got some new evidence of a nursery report so I’m unsure whether to send now or until they’ve acknowledged they’ve got it? What do you think?

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2024 18:38

I'd wait til you have your reference number to put on the letter / evidence.

No i had a letter though x

I had the 8 week letter. Nothing since then though.

I'm impressed I've got to 15 weeks without calling, tbh! 🤣

That is impressive, I absolutely can't say the same! We are almost there though 🙈 x

@Franbob When you send in additional evidence you need to write the reference number, child's full name & DOB on the top of every sheet of paper. I didn't and learned the hard way! Sent originals too and had to get it again. So it's better off to wait - you never know, you might have more to send off by then :) x

I have my DS' EHCP application taking my time up. It's only because of that distraction, I think!

HangryLimeBeaker · 12/08/2024 19:22

@NoWordForFluffy Oh wow! My daughter has just been put on to the autism pathway. Paediatrician wasn't very nice about it; said it's severe and very obvious. (I know from a medical perspective they have to be honest but atleast be nice about it!), but she starts nursery in September where they're pushing for EHCP and EYPP. They was just waiting for the suspected ASD & GDD letter. I heard EHCP also takes up to 20 weeks. Must be so tiring for you xx

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2024 19:29

No bedside manner, some medics!

The DLA application is my daughter's. She was diagnosed autistic in March aged 10 (now 11). DS was diagnosed 2.5 years' ago and already gets DLA. He started to refuse school in December, which is when the school agreed to apply for an EHCP (finally).

It's a nightmare navigating the system, frankly.

My sons schools awful, I'm having to do a parent referral for an ehcp, luckily I have a degree in special educational needs and disability inclusion studies otherwise I would have no clue! The school don't care unless it's impacting them (which behaviours have started to) he's 14 this year and in alternative provision so doesn't attend the mainstream lessons. They're pushing for him to go back into mainstream as theyve said he cant be in the alternative provision indefinitely, but his camhs consultant and specialist therapist, salt consultant are all saying he's not ready, he can't express emotions and clearly says in his adpr that he can't communicate with unfamiliar staff and he's not seen some of these staff for over a year. I've had to fight for another Ed psych report as the last one was rediclious, no substance to it and just basically said he wanted to be a bus driver when he's older and give him 5 minutes out the class room I was fuming.

He has tics and the teachers were giving him detention for them, his consultant told them he can't help it, yet they said he can control them (he can't it's just he holds them in for so long they all come out at once which is why they said sometimes he does them sometimes he doesn't)

We have an appointment at camhs tomorrow where we're going to discuss he goes into an alternative setting permanently.

Oh wow! 2.5 is so young for diagnosis down here but you must be really happy you got it over and done with young. They predict my girl will have a full diagnosis by 3.5! Nursery want EHCP and EYPP so soon because they told me they can't afford her otherwise as her needs are quite severe bless her. I do worry as when I applied for DLA i didn't know any of this information but they have got tons of evidence from us. Shame about school for your son but ehcp comes with lots of funding so fingers crossed they can make it kkre bearable for him. 🤞🏼

We're all in the same boat here aren't we and doing the best we can, if we dont fight for our kids nobody will. I could and probably in hindsight should of applied for dla around 4/5 years ago but I was so put off by the fact someone makes a decision who doesn't know my child and essentially judges them but he's older now so the meltdowns are bigger and the costs are getting more as it's more he breaks during them along with care needs. He was awarded hrc, lrm until the day before his 17th birthday in 2027, some of me does feel guilty I didn't apply sooner as I would of been able to get him the stuff he needs sooner but then again I've always just got it out my own pocket.

Now he's had backpay were in the middle of fixing holes in walls and replacing his bedroom door he kicked off its hinges, ordered a sensory tent and a load of things to go inside I'm hoping that helps. Also ordered a load of communication aids, he's verbal but had no understanding around feeling, emotions or how to communicate his needs effectively which is why salt are involved.

Hopefully you're not waiting much longer for a decision x

HangryLimeBeaker · 12/08/2024 22:14

@CyanFawn Yeah I understand how challenging it is. My girl is still young but I can only imagine how expensive it is for you also. We struggle a lot with meltdowns as she is non verbal and her diet is terrible. SALT has said pecs won't work for us as her eye contact is non existent so they're trying to push for makaton in September. I'm so glad you got HRC for your boy, don't feel guilty it took so long.. you're doing the right thing by him and that's all that matters. you deserve the backpay! I'm sure he is really appreciative of you. It's all the little things that we remember when we grow up. Enjoy redecorating and see it as a new chapter xx

hi sorry this is about uc how long do u wait for a reply when u have put a complaint in I left a message on my journal 4over 4 weeks ago to get this disablity Elle my added on to my claim am still nothing I did see a thread here not long ago but can’t seem to find it thanks in advance x

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2024 05:39

@CyanFawn, as I told the woman from School Health last week, I could rant about the school for hours. They only ever do anything when they're being affected by it. It drives me loopy. Then they say they'll do stuff, but don't. Or do it in a half-arsed way.

If they actually fucking tried to understand him and genuinely help him, he wouldn't be refusing school. Idiots.

Woo hoo we’ve been awarded 🥳

Rang for forms - 6th March
Scan date - 10th April

Standard letter received stating 15 week wait otherwise had nothing off them. No updates, no texts.

At midnight money went into the account, judging by the amount it looks like HRC back dated over 22 weeks to the 6th March 🥰
