@Billie87 @WhereIsMyPhone When I phoned two weeks ago I was fobbed off then with a date of 3rd September and I wasn't going to call again, but after seeing others round our date being awarded I thought Feck it, just ring. I got the sweetest operator ever. He sounded like an elderly chap, really soft spoken and I just said to him I'd received a letter saying 15 weeks, but it's gone past that and could he tell me if there is a problem with my form. He asked the security questions and told me what I posted above. I rang the 1523 options way.

He sounds lovely! I called yesterday and was also told to wait until 3rd September so now I’m just none the wiser! Seeings lots of awards though and I’m glad yours is with a DM! Hopefully you hear soon 😄

WhereIsMyPhone · 13/08/2024 17:45

seeing lots of people calling up for the decision.. I wish they would actually send texts!

Chel82 · 13/08/2024 18:01

Hey guys, I’ve been around for a while but first time posting ☺️ my scan date is 30/05 but I had a missed call of dla yesterday, I called back today and they wanted to know why my form was late, I explained my dad had had a stroke and I’d been helping look after him, I’d also used the free post envelope and no recorded delivery. She said she would send the information to the decision maker now!?! I didn’t think it would be with one as of yet?! I told her my son has now been diagnosed with asthma so take a daily inhaler and is it worth sending in the extra evidence and she said to send it today for next day delivery and should be fine as she probably won’t make a decision tonight 😳

Has anyone else had this call? Xx

SD 16/04. I'm in awe of how people get so much info over the phone 😂 called again and was told no decision and they can't tell me anything else not even if it's with a dm and call back in September 😂

I had this when I phoned up! My scan date is 17/04 and feel like been waiting forever so hoping not much longer!!!

LBB2020 · 13/08/2024 20:18

Thanks @zoeybrooks45
Due to expire end of the month but for various reasons I didn’t get the renewal form completed and sent until mid July! Fingers crossed it gets renewed before current award expires!

Magicmushroomsauce · 14/08/2024 06:07

Morning SD 12/04. Just seen back pay in my account so must have been awarded. I’m so pleased (I’d convinced myself it would be more of a fight) but also feel sad that the DWP has validated that my little boy has additional needs. Total mixed emotions.

RainyDreams · 14/08/2024 07:57

I woke up to a pending payment for tomorrow. Such a relief. Looks like it may be MRC and LRM. Scan date was 11/4, so 18 weeks tomorrow.

Just waiting on my younger daughter now whose scan date was 15/4, 17+2 at the moment.

HangryLimeBeaker · 14/08/2024 08:31

@RainyDreams @Magicmushroomsauce Congratulations on the award 💜

Wow that's really early! Was you made a priority? I have seen a few people get a call from a DM if they're unsure about certain things. Usually if you've accidentally left something unticked or not been clear enough about something. x

Hi, I got a decision 6/06 for mrc. I have an appointment for my daughter at the end of September and she is receiving a blind certificate they have said most likely will be as severely sight impaired. Will this take it from mrc to hrc? Shes only 10 months old so I feel like because of her age they will just keep it at mrc, she does have other conditions, so I didn’t expect the mrc to begin with but when I got the decision I didn’t want to argue it as I knew she was getting this certificate. Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

They don't typically like to give HRC under 5. It is possible and multiple people have done it, but I know in general they usually just put you on to MRC until renewal is due then up the reward as the child is older (usually child is around 4-5 for renewal). But that doesn't mean don't fight for it, if you have all the evidence then go ahead. I have heard stories of people doing an MR then completely losing their award. I also believe my child is entitled to HRC, she is 2.6 and under sleep clinic ready for melatonin. She has ASD & GDD (under autism pathway) but I think because of her age we will only get MRC. At the end of the day you know your daughter best and her needs, if you have evidence to argue your point then you should do what you feel is best xx

Rang this morning for an update.
S/D 11/4, rang on Monday and it had gone to a decision maker on Friday. Rang today and a decision was made on Monday, MRC and LRM.
So happy and relieved that I can start making plans to help my child.

My little boy is 2.9 and has GDD and suspected autism. Won’t be prescribed melatonin until we’ve been through sleep clinic but on a wait list for this. We’ve just received HRC for him yesterday so anything is possible 😀

I would advise you to do a COC as the wait is so long by the time the look at again it will be February. Once you’ve got the certificate start the ball rolling then you can add other supporting documents while waiting.

This was my original thought i definitely put it down to her age and I didn’t want to fight it but I think im definitely going to if I do this coc and they still give mrc. She definitely deserves it, she was born with only 1 eye and has a problem with a gland in her brain which was left her with a life threatening condition, she’s also tube fed and now her eye doctor has said she is most likely severely sight impaired in the eye she does have (she can mostly see lights). When I did the original form she was only 4 months old. Just to go see the eye doctor it costs us £100 just for the train as I don’t drive. And yes your daughter should definitely be entitled to hrc a family member is exactly the same and receives hrc but she is a little older. It’s just such a frustrating process isn’t it! Xx

I just wanted to add that Family Fund do a mobility scheme for under 3s, it might be worth looking into and applying. I hope everything goes in your favour x

HangryLimeBeaker · 14/08/2024 10:52

@xxholr5xx that's amazing but unfortunately DM do not all do HRC for that and some really do need to fight. we have our first sleep clinic appt in september! xx

@C1502 absolutely fight it. i've never agreed on awards being based on age. should always be based on care needs, i will do the same for HRC. i'm prepared to go to tribunal x

Scan date 19/04 - just called for the first time and all she could say was you’ll get a text with a decision the first couple of weeks of September.

So frustrating that some agents aren’t as helpful as others. It’s put me off ringing again!

Billie87 · 14/08/2024 11:10

@Thenoseymother I feel your pain 😂 I always seem to get the ones that don't want to give any info away. I'm too scared to call again and paranoid it gets logged so they'll think I'm a mad woman. I'm not 😂 but my daughter was asked not to come back to holiday club so I've had to reduce my hours massively so struggling!

So I had recent paediatrician summary report (which showed her referral to the sleep clinic) and explantation as to why he can’t have melatonin yet and her opinion on how it affected the family and our other children (we have to sometimes drive him round for hours).

The sleep clinic application form to show we were on the waiting list alongside a week’s worth of sleep diary.

Recent hearing and speech and language reports, his one page profile from nursery, his targeted provision plans for each half term at nursery (we live in Wales), an observation report from our Early Years Additional Needs Officer for our county who assessed him at nursery to then send him to specialised provision nursery. A page by his key worker at nursery which included how tired he is in setting and tries to fall asleep.

Wasn’t getting my hopes up for HRC as didn’t think I’d explained his night needs well enough in the form and because of his age but was prepared to fight it as his sleep is nothing like his twin brothers 🙈

I know, it’s just typical isn’t it. My friend told me to ring again Friday and speak to
someone else but knowing my luck I’d get the same person 🤣
