Congratulations! I'm also waiting on MR after being completely declined. Can I ask what additional evidence you sent with your MR?

And did you have to call up yourself to find out or did you get a text or anything ?

How awful that it goes from a decline to HRC. Maybe they wouldn’t have such a long turnaround if they didn’t decline so many eligible applications in the first instance 😡

Anymore awards today ?? X

NachoCheesed · 07/07/2024 09:31

Was awarded Friday! S/D was 07/03 and got a nice chunk of back pay. DS' award is LRM and MRC. Am very happy with this as really takes the pressure off

Mumoffourlovelies · 07/07/2024 12:45

I was hoping there would be some more award texts over the weekend. Fingers crossed they start on later march next week!

I genuinely think they decline some as not everyone will have the fight in them for the MR, maybe a percentage don't bother and it saves the department money. Cynical I know, but wouldn't surprise me. It varies too much, some get HRC others get nothing with same levels of evidence. Plus the declines on no diagnosis, despite a diagnosis not being necessary as it's based on the care of the individual child.

My son has bowel incontinence pretty much since birth, we still don't have a formal diagnosis but he has really high care needs through the day and night. We have been declined and I'm waiting for MR results despite sending reports from surgeon, dr and nursery all backing up the level of care he needs. I just don't understand how they've thought we don't qualify for anything at all.

Some of the people I've seen declined, like yours, ( I remember when you posted) make me wonder whether some of them are told to say no to some or they just don't have the same training as others.
Luckily it seems like the MR's seem in general to overturn the decision, as if they are looked at properly. But it's not fair to have to go through it. Last year it was a total of 28 weeks from start to finish for my eldest. It was so stressful, the waiting makes you feel anxious. I wish they would do an online check service, it would reassure and stop the need to chase all the time or get one answer from one then another you know?

That's a really good idea actually. I can't remember who previously posted but someone here mentioned you don't actually get a text with MR decision so it would be good to have some instant way of checking. I don't have it in me to call and chase up though my heart races at the thought of it. I did wonder whether they are supposed to just decline some people and I guess those without a formal diagnosis are an easy target. I'm on week 35 in total - was yours MR or did the initial claim just take that long?

They could do with an online service full stop. The whole system seems a bit dated.

That was the total time, applied early July and didn't hear back until early December. He was given LRC LRM the reasons didn't even cover half his needs. I did an MR over the phone, it was another ten weeks to hear. Think it was all done by end of Feb! On week 15 this week for my little one, he's only 2 so I'm not hopeful to be honest, think I'm fully prepared for it to be another MR. I think they have adequate info, more than I sent last time but I feel like we see more and more MR'S as time goes on.

DM usually have a target of people they to decline. It’s a very high pressure job with writing reports and the volume. It is to save money and they have to decline no matter what. Everybody that applies obviously has a reason and they rely own the fact they won’t do MR or proceed further and save DWP money in the long run.

Crazyhouse4 · 07/07/2024 18:56

My daughter 3years 7months was awarded MRC last week and I’ve been thinking all weekend that she should have got HRC, I feel I wrote enough on her form for her to get HRC but I’m also questioning if she only got MRC because she’s not been seen by anyone yet for any reports, she is seeing paediatrician for the first time in 2 weeks time, will the give me a report after that appointment that would help towards a MR? Right now I only have what I have sent them if I was to do a MR. Or do I wait until I need to apply for the mobility side of it in a years time when I would have more reports and she’s been seen by professionals and possibly a ehcp by then and ask them to look at the care side of it too?

What makes you think she should get hrc can I just ask as I've been seeing a lot of people not happy with their awards lately and it makes me wonder. I get we all think we provide a lot of care for our children but if the evidence isn't there to back it up then I don't see how people can complain, as you said you have no.peads reports ect so if i was you unless you sent loads of other things id be happy especially with the amount of declines lately. I've seen people on here with no evidence get hrc and people who send loads get declined it makes no sense how they work. I sent off the forms, plus another supporting statement, plus 7 or 8 reports from camhs, plus list of the 3 diagnoses child has, plus iep and ibp from school theyre in a mainstream setting but alternative provision with the send team, plus medication list, plus letter with referrals to salt and for asd pathway, plus about 5 extra pages on behaviour, plus a week sleep diary (on melatonin but still wakes and then needs supervision as dangerous when awake), plus a week diary of soiling incidents (child's nearly 14) and I'm still sat wondering if this is enough.

I don't mean to come across disrespectful but this threads gone from people helping each other to moaning about awards, you can do a mr but then risk the chance of losing the award altogether, I'm awaiting a decision and unless there's something blatantly wrong I'll be happy with any award as that will go to what I want to do around sensory corner for room and communication aids for us to be able to understand each other although they speak they have no understanding of emotions ect which is why the salt referral is in place.

I totally agree with you this thread as gone down hill it's just selfish people moaning about my child deserves this my child deserves that.. every child's entitled but what ever is awarded people should be greatful it's something rather than nothing.. it takes weeks for an award it's full of stress and anxiety why would you want to put yourself through more stress and worry over trying to over turn it for a few extra quid.. I've been on this thread for a while and it was a friendly bunch helping with what to expect on waiting times helping the days pass but now it's how to get highest award do Mr.. I don't no what is wrong with people should be greatful to get that bit of help after fighting for so long 😔

This is interesting it gives me a little bit of hope for my MR. When I was first declined the advice I was given from other parents was that they turn down a lot of claims in the hope you won't take it any further. I'm hoping for a positive outcome for my son to avoid appealing and having to go to tribunal. It's such a draining process!

What is it that makes you think your child should get hrc? I'm genuinely asking. My son does get high rate care and I consider him very lucky but he also has to be supervised constantly while he is awake, I mean every second, or he will smear faeces on the wall or pee in the sofa or try to bite the cat or attack his brother I can't leave him he even comes to the toilet with me. He also has high financial demand in terms of replacing clothes that he chews through constantly, the sensory toys to try to stop him doing that, the activities that I can attend with him because he is always asked to leave if I don't stay with him. I am lucky at the moment I am a student so I have a flexible timetable but next year when I qualify I might have to face the reality that working just isn't an option with him which means I may never be able to earn and If I can it will only be part time with a very understanding service.
Even with all of his problems I only expected mrc because of the even higher level of care other children need. I actually hoped for HRM because he physically can not go out without a car it's impossible but he got LRM because he doesn't meet the criteria, incould have appealed it but that would have risked his award and it just wasn't worth it.
Seriously think about the difficulties you experience with your child and if you would consider them severely impaired compared to another child thier age it may be worth an MR

Anxiouslywaitingmum · 07/07/2024 22:03

Evening all. Does anyone know what dates they are at roughly with the MR? Mine was put in beginning of May. Feel like I've been waiting forever, especially since I first put my claim in in January x
