He's 6, he wasn't referred until 5 as he doesn't have any significant gross-motor delays. That's the waiting time in our area, but I think it's similar in a lot of places. It was even worse where we lived previously, the LA had restrictions on how many referrals a school could do in a year, which is why my DDs needs weren't addressed until we moved, even though they'd know since nursery that she had difficulties, they weren't 'bad enough'. The medical stuff is something else, it's not hard to see why we women diminish things and soldier on when a 10 year old with long-term symptoms is being dismissed or accused of lying!
