That was lucky!! Lol
Mine went to a dm on Tuesday, I rang earlier and was told I should have a decision by the end of the week. Not sure if that means tomorrow or Sunday 🤔😂

Mummyof6love · 13/06/2024 17:36

@SB1994 my other half was like -so they told you you would get a decision tomorrow 😂😂 ummmm-nope-up to 2 weeks but I wouldn’t cope all weekend if I don’t ring tomorrow. Fingers crossed for us both. I’m not all hopeful after reading quite a few declines as I had no evidence to back mine up except a letter stating they were putting my daughter on the assessment pathway. Nothing from school as they are useless. But a definite answer would be good.

SB1994 · 13/06/2024 18:05

@Mummyof6love 😂😂 we live in hope atm lol
I'm starting to worry myself tbh but like you said a definite answer will be good. My anxiety has been through the roof the last few weeks.

Yes am starting to doubt whether DD will be accepted. Dont think I wrote enough.

Saving grace is the school advised us to apply for DLA, and if they contact the school, they will provide alot of information.

Was also assessed for Autism last week, but no report as of yet

I got an award for my son without evidence so stay positive I'm just waiting for a decision for my younger son now but I had evidence this time scan date 8/03 so I'll be a way off yet

Mummyof6love · 13/06/2024 19:40

@Sharkay06 i literally only sent in a letter confirming an autism assessment pathway thingy after an initial telephone conversation. No other papers or anyone to fill out the ‘someone who knows your child’ part. I felt like I did write a lot but nothing to back it up. I hope I hear soon. The wait is sooo long.

Hello all,

I was just wondering if someone could explain to me what classed or qualifies as needing priority when applying for DLA? I've never heard of it before.
Thank you x

I’m unsure myself but from what I’ve read the people who have been classed as priority it’s for financial hardship / their children’s needs have become to much for skwl to manage so they’re having to reduce work hours or completely leave their jobs children destroying things and no money to replace it like beds and clothes excetra hope this helps x

@Jobeanz
My claim for UC also changed over mid way through waiting for a decision. UC will backdate the Disabled element and Carers element from when your claim for UC started. For tax credit you will be able to call them if they haven't already done a final decision on the award upto when it stopped. If they have done a final decision then you will have to write in an explain to get them to change the award from the date your DLA is backdated to when your tax credit claim ended. Don't know how long tax credits will take as I only found out myself yesterday and have yet to write to them. Hope this helps

so if I claimed UC when son was 1 (I wasn’t aware of ASD until 24 months) should I get backdated? I thought was from when scan date too xx

zoeybrooks45 · 13/06/2024 21:47

Parking here for a COC 29/05. Good luck everyone waiting. Seems like nothing changed ridiculous waiting times of 15 weeks. X

I got a COC decision (refusal) after just 3 days of them having my form so you never know...

It is from scan date. She’s saying from us start because I changed from tax credits to uc between scan date and the date I was awarded x x

Shazzle88 · 12/06/2024 17:43

Is he on sleep medication? and did you have any statements off professionals confirming that he has sleep problems xx

With you asking about medication i was wondering if being on melatonin can be a disadvantage in the claim, obviously the melatonin is to help them sleep so technically shouldn't be up with them in the night but my childs still up even with them. Theyre 13 and I need to be awake when they are due to how they behave whilst awake eg sets fires with lighters they stash, breaks into downstairs it has to be locked due to them taking food fresh or frozen and does try to cook, leaves the house and wanders the area, draws on walls ect they have a smoke alarm in bedroom that was fit by the local fire department and I have indoor cctv just outside the bedroom as they slap and bites theirself, theyll do this in the day or night though and is only a brief outline not to.mention meltdowns and verbal and physical outbursts and smashing things up, they have depression, anxiety and tics and currently awaiting help from speech and language and autism and adhd paperwork to get to panel. They soil theirself (camhs think its sensory) and so I do have to also wake them to change, shower and change bedding, does sometimes use adult nappies but is very reluctant and will often take them off.

My daughter takes melatonin to its designed to help them get to sleep but wont keep them asleep al night, with all that going on with your child you should definitely be getting more. I sorry your going thru al of this xx

You can get UC to backdate it to when your claim started with DLA Mine was 23rd Jan but my scan date was 19/2. So I can get any additional elements backdated to the 23rd Jan. Your letter from DLA should show you when you were awarded from and that is when UC can backdate from too not scan date (unless of course you didn't call and printed them yourself or you sent the forms back after the deadline, then it would be your scan date)
I hope that mouthful made sense lol
For me I was on tax credits until feb when I then had to move to UC. They have backdate it to then and now I have to write to tax credits to get them to add the element onto my closed claim with them for the 23/1 to 31/1.

I called yesterday (I think we are the same scan date 26/02) still not with a DM but should be soon. The guy I spoke to marked my daughters application as a 1st (priority I think) as she is now 3 months away from being 16! Hopefully we both get a positive outcome very soon.

I had a guy like that last week, he was so obnoxious! But the guy I spoke to yesterday was lovely. Yesterday I called via the long route I can't remember the numbers is it 532? Rather than the short route, apparently the call handlers on the long way are much nicer 🤷🏼‍♀️ fingers crossed it's not much longer for us.

ArtfulJoker · 14/06/2024 09:16

Does anyone dread the weekends now 🫣 it’s so bad!

Sharkay06 · 14/06/2024 09:30

Has anyone had any decisions on a march scan date ?
