Hang fire @Mammalee5 going private - you are ENTITLED to NHS services so why should you pay the fees for private?! The costs are crippling and express how do they expect you to pay anyway when they are threatening to remove the benefit money you receive for him.
Benefit dla money isn't issued for private healthcare, that's totally optional, but please fight this before you part with thousands. You could use that for your child for no end of things :-(

I did say all of that to her, thing is waiting 5 years for the assessment my son would lose so much more without DLA. 3 months of DLA payments and the UC element covers the cost. And we'll just tighten the belts for a few months but worth it to make sure he gets what he needs. Sucks, we were saving up for it anyway but planned beginning of next year.

Hi,
Getting a little worried from seeing different posts
My son is awaiting diagnosis for adhd with neuro
Has chronic hives and nocturnal urenises
I have sent letters from paeds etc ..he has a behaviour plan in school but school aren't massively supportive of his needs
Question being. If they write to school and they say there isn't an issue , would this mean my claim wouldn't be accepted?

Dani457 · 18/06/2024 20:55

Mamof2devils · 18/06/2024 20:32

They don't like to rush do they have you not rang them up?. They only fob you off anyway like but sometimes you get a nice one

I rang them up last Tuesday and they said was with a decision maker and they were working on my case and they rang the school that day aparanitely asking for proof/information off them. 😑 that's all I know upto now. Probably the school taking their merry time to get back to them.

Did you send any reports or anything from the school with your claim? Or do they just ring the school aswell?

It's all wrong if school don't get back in a time frame they should just carry on with the forms and take what is said on forms.. after all it's not about how they are at school it's how they are at home.. dla need a major update and fast.. hopefully you hear something soon.. I'd be on phone every day till they get sick lol x

I have seen claims be declined because the school have basically said the child's needs are the same as every other child that age BUT I don't think they contact the school that often, it all depends on evidence sent. Sorry couldn't be of more help xx

Can you not just send in proof of acceptance on the autism waiting list?

I sent in a school questionnaire form off his teacher saying how immature for his age he was and was impulsive and had no sense of control and struggled with relationships. As well as reports off his mental health nurse from the school.
We've currently had another meeting 2/3 weeks ago putting plans in place eg a 1-1 as he is a danger to himself & others in class. Giving him more resilience lessons and more mental health sessions including aids to help him in class as he's impulsively lashed out at 2-3 people which resulted in them being hurt. And the sen was gunna speed up his ADHD assessment. Iv asked them to send this as more evidence as i wouldn't have time given how close it is to being sorted. Wish I had just sent it now tbh. !
But the school are very hit & missy with things one minute he's "great"at school then the other he's a danger to himself and others, needs lots more support and pulling me in for meetings. And they wonder why im asking them to document every incident and meeting we have so I have written proof of what they've said in the past. But tbh the older he's getting the worse it's getting and the more support they are seeing that he needs In place !

Mammalee5 · 18/06/2024 21:24

That's the evidence she has that isn't good enough

I think the DM need to find your child has more needs then children his own age. Does he have any special arrangements in school like a support plan or 1:1? I would assume it’s the senco that would respond. Might be worth speaking to them when you get the chance.

Even with all that evidence from the school they're ringing them still?

I sent in a report from the educational psychologist and her notes from the meeting in school which included class teacher and school senco and also a separate letter off the school senco and was hoping they didn't need to contact them because theyre also hit and miss sometimes🤦🏻

He has elsa support sessions in school and behaviour plan but as he isn't diagnosed they won't fund a 1:1 unfortunately
It's so frustrating how the system works as I've been told 4 years plus for a diagnosis so round in circles..

Guess just wait and see

Yeah clearly so as the school did say they did receieve a phone call off them on the Tuesday that's when I asked them to include the documentation from the last meeting we had . I also sent the letters off CYPS saying he was on the waiting list for assessment. And all his doctors notes. 🙄
It's just a real pain in the arse isn't it !

Yeah I would definitely make sure they are documenting every meeting etc. I had my sons school document all the meetings and times I've been called in for one thing or another. I'd say you sent a good amount of evidence from the school though and if not and you need to do a MR you can send off all that extra information. X

Mamof2devils · 19/06/2024 06:41

Woke up to the back payment having gone in for my 7yr old!

SD 23/02, awarded 14/06/2024 MRC & LRM

Also advised UC on 14/06 and carer element was paid this morning too. They have said they need to verify the disabled child element first before they can do that.

Still have another new claim in the system for my 9yr old with SD 23/02. I have been told with a DM since 14/06. Going to ring this afternoon.
