I don't know if your current MP can help at the moment. Because parliament is dissolved ahead of the GE, none of them are actually MPs right now (according to my MP's website). Otherwise I'd definitely say to get them involved ASAP. What a mess they're making if this.

Bearing in mind that DLA isn't means tested, and the survivor's pension isn't disability-related, I can't begin to think why it would affect eligibility for it. Have they explained their reasoning?

The lady who called me 2 weeks ago and promised to chase Blackpool and said any pension or benefit from other country needs additional checks even though it doesn't have any involvement in child's disabilities. They are waiting for some kind of advice or confirmation before making decisions and payments going out. But then I have a question what they did with my boys case all those 20 weeks before I started to call them. I even had a call from them on March to explain that pension. From the calls I got I have that feeling they just started to work on my boys claim only when I started to call them, that's why there's such a delay.

@Matilde08 get your complaint sent off ASAP, I feel awful for what they're putting you through! Do they not understand how long you've already waited and how badly it's affecting you being told to wait again? It's easy for them to say they're trying to sort it ASAP but they're not trying hard enough! I could just give you a big hug, you don't deserve to be messed around you've waited and been patient for so long and they've took the absolute pi*s.

Ljstar · 05/06/2024 13:57

@Crazyhouse4

Yes i think I did 🙈

I'm on a facebook page and everyone there seems
to be told 20 weeks too.

He did say if it's sooner than 20 weeks I would see the payment go in quicker than the letter. I asked for a text message once I have a decision

But no doubt i'll call again next week because I have no patience

@Matilde08 I'm sorry you are still being messed around, even though it was a little more complex for your son's decision, taking this amount of time is not acceptable, if you can, ring them daily chasing it up until they sort it out. Xx

Honestly I'm so traumatised by those calls that I don't believe to anyone there and it upsets me to chase them.

How do we know when the ASD referal has been accepted? I literally know nothing about ASD or EHCP process . My boy is turning 12 this month , this is all new to us but he has struggled since day 1 of school. I asked his primary school when he was year 3 if they could look into if they suspected anything but they said he is just an ‘shy , quiet , emotional boy’ ….. now we are this far down the line and he is struggling so bad 😔 his current school attendance is 49.9% and that’s on a reduced timetable and with 1:1 support and he still can’t handle school. In his words ‘it’s too much, it scares me which makes me stressed then feel sick’ he has been diagnosed severe emetophobia and the poor boy feels sick all day everyday x

Hi I emailed them as I have the email address and they told me my little boys referal was excepted then they send out a letter to xx

Matilde08 · 05/06/2024 14:04

@Ljstar @BlueyMama with this call I actually hoped to be connected with THE ONES who's working with the case, but they asked the guy to pass me all the information. If they would really care about my boys case, they would worked on it ages ago, not only when I'm starting to chase them. Even now how dare they to ask me just keep waiting.. maybe I should start to chase Blackpool myself if there's an option

So I caved and called again! For my sons claim 15/02 a decision has been made on 3/6 but she wouldn't tell me if it was yes or no 🫤
To wait for a letter in 10 working days!
Don't know if its made me feel better or worse!
But positive post for others around the same scan date! Fingers crossed everyone hears soon 🫶🏻

Apologies if not the correct area and please feel free to move.

I received a statement of reasons for COC refusal today and whilst it's quite vague, I'd like your thoughts on some of the reasons.

They're saying the medical evidence does not suggest a significant change of circumstances but, does additional care needs always have to arise from a medical point of view? ... our childs additional care needs have come about through trauma from the events of a crime. This crime is documented with the Police and details have been provided to the DLA and we also have a report from a developmental paedietrician which highlights what has happened to them.

In the letter, they say that sleepwalking in children is not uncommon and safety measures can be considered to help keep them safe. It doesn't suggest what safety measures could be put in place - surely they're not suggesting tying them down to the bed or fitting a lock to the door?

They suggest that bed wetting can be managed effectively with the use of aids. Again, it doesn't suggest what aids could be used - are they suggesting nappies (or similar) and leave them in a wet nappy all night?

The letter highlights some observations from a developmental paedietrician report that we have and mentions that the report states that the child is well behaved most of the time. I'm unsure at to what point they're trying to prove by highlighting this as I can't see how a childs behavior can be closely linked to their care needs.

I'm about to do my MR so I just want to be armed with all the correct rebuttal information that I can be.

Thank you.

Oh @Matilde08. I cannot believe how long they are taking with your claim. Maybe there's a way you can call Blackpool and find out why it's taking so long! There doesn't seem to be any compassion towards your little lads needs and your mental health.
Definitely get that complaint in, enough is enough now. I have everything crossed for you to get your award soon. Sending positive vibes my lovely x

😂 I know what you mean, I’m so impatient too, I will probably call again on Friday. I don’t understand how the wait times can go from 15-16 weeks last week to 20 weeks this week 😵‍💫 that’s a big jump in wait times, and it’s been so quiet this week too

Do all referrals go to the same people? How would I go about finding out where my son’s has gone? How to contact them?
I really could do with an update as to what’s happening x

MumOf6Beauts · 05/06/2024 14:21

@Emma2345
Do you think? I was going to wait until tomorrow! But shocked she wouldn't say, but she did say before she told me what's the name of the bank your dla payments will go into to? So I don't know if that was slip of the tongue or me being hopeful 😂😂.... I will let you know if I call back as I'm out with the babies atm ☺️

Thank you ✨️ that's what I said to this guy that it has affected and affecting me mentally sooo much. It should be treated with a bit more compassion as it's not only about his needs but personal loss what includes trauma, loads of triggers. Sorry, but there's no excuse now. When the case manager told me six weeks ago to give them another max 6 weeks to sort this out, I couldn't imagine to be exactly where I was back then. Still asked to wait...

I called up within the last hour. My scan date was the 15/2 and my application was declined. The lady was lovely and listed the reasons from the notes over the telephone. This will be followed up with a letter from them again outlining the reasons.
I'm not to surprised, my sons illness isn't classed as a disability even though it impacts the entire household and how his normal childhood should be.
I dont think I'll bother following up with an MR as I don't actually have the fight in me. I save that for his doctors!

I’ve called a few times for my 16/2 claim and never been told 20 weeks, the most I’ve been told is 17 weeks. My youngest daughters scan date is 21/5 and I think that’s going to be a long wait, they had a back log just scanning on new claims so must be busy

I'm really sorry, that must be incredibly frustrating for you!

I do understand not wanting to do a MR, as it is so so draining and I would absolutely be feeling the same way.

One thing I will say is, I have been told most MR do get overturned. So it might be worth not making a final decision just yet ❤️

Definitely call back.

it's ridiculous asking you to wait for a letter when lots of other people get told their award over the phone.

why is there so much inconsistency within the DLA? it's bizarre
