My daughter has only just turned 2, so I think it could be argued a lot of her care needs are similar to that of her peers, even though I don't think that's the case at all. She's undiagnosed autistic with a lot of anxiety & pronounced sensory needs, and doesn't sleep. Literally. We had quite a lot of evidence - TAF, SALT, private paediatric report (she's on 6mg melatonin), letter from HV, paperwork from 18 month check, emails from me since she was 6 months old flagging up developmental concerns etc. But no childcare setting due to her anxiety and keep getting rejected from community paeds due to her age.

We are very similar to you only my 2 year old son is not on melatonin, we are under paeds who agreed non verbal Autism but it’s a long process to get an actual diagnosis . We just received forms for blood work for him that needs booked at hospital as they will have to sedate him to do them as quiet a few needed inc genetics. SALT have done nothing other than advise and put name on list for a group class of some sort for communication skills and sounds …. I found out Friday he was refused , we was put through to another department and was talking with her for around 20-25 mins answer a bunch of questions she agreed the DM basically classed him as needing same as other 2 year olds but she agreed he is a lot more complicated… she said it’s around 12-15 week wait but if it’s not over turned on the care ( can’t get mobility until age 5 ) then to try again when he turns 3 but fill forms out 8 weeks before his birthday ( valentines ) ….. hopefully your have better luck then I did as I didn’t have much evidence to send and he is not on medication. X

I think there main problem will be her age because like you say alot of 2 year olds need alot of care but if u get refused and you appeal it you will be able to explain more about how difficult her needs are. But if im honest you have an amazing amount of evidence so i think your chances are really good xx

Hey, im the same scan date as you 21/5, although I’ve not had a letter to confirm it yet, I called up to see when it was scanned on to the system. Parked is when people park on this thread and add there scan date so they will get notification about this thread

Are they open to receive post at the weekend? That might be the issue.

I don't think they are open over the weekend so it will likely be delivered on Monday 😊

Hi everyone, new here, came across this thread whilst searching online for some information regarding dla. I applied for my daughter at the end of January by calling the helpline for a form. Sent all forms back once I had received them and got a scan date of 6th feb. I had a text on Thursday (6th June) to say: “we have decided that your child qualifies for disability living allowance. You don’t need to contact us about this. We’ll send you a letter with all you need to know. If you don’t get this in 2 weeks please contact us.”
does this mean she has been awarded it?
It’s so vague!

just wanted someone to talk to who may have got a similar message. Sorry to intrude on your thread, I hope you guys don’t mind! X

Morning, yes it sounds like you was awarded the same day as me for my eldest daughter, I would call them on Monday to check rates or you could wait for the letter but theses do take a while to come. My back pay should arrive in my bank Tuesday so yours should be the same, congratulations on your award 🙌

Mez2024 · 09/06/2024 11:26

@Smurf2007
Yes that says that they have decided your child qualifies. You will get backdated payment 3-5 working days so maybe tues-fri next week which you will probably get before a letter cause they take a while to come. If your curious give them a call to find out what the award is.
Congrats on your award

Smurf2007 · 09/06/2024 11:30

Ah amazing, thanks for your replies!
it has been a long old road to fight her struggles bless her, we’ve been fighting since year 2 and she’s now year 7 and her transition to senior school has been an awful time for her but they are finally listening thank goodness. Year 6 the school finally approached me and said yea we can see these things at school now too so they helped me get her assessed. But it has taken ages and ages it’s not fair how they make these poor children suffer when they need extra support the waiting times are horrendous aren’t they.
from what I’m reading it looks as though we will get our back payment before the letter so fingers crossed it will be this week. As text said two weeks for the letter but with my postal service, will probably be next year 🥴 xx

Hi, new to this but have been following thread for a couple weeks so thought id join as waiting to hear back from dla about new claim for my son.

Posted forms 28/03/2024
DLA received forms on 2/04/2024
i phoned on 28/04/2024 to make sure they had received forms as i didnt recieve a letter or text confirming they had them. Think this call made them send confirmation letter out as i recieved a letter a week later .
i then got the generic letter dated 20/05/2024 saying sorry you have not received decision yet this can take up to 15weeks we will write to you as soon as we can with more info

i know i have a long wait left for decision as going by SD/date they recieved forms 02/04/24 i will be at 11weeks on tues 11/06/24.

congrats to everyone who has been awarded

is anyone here got same sd as me 02/04/2024
