How long before his birthday did you apply hun? Im in the same position X

I applied nearly 3 months before his birthday. But you can always phone up and give them changes after you have been awarded as well

Scan date 20/02 for a COC. My last letter said it’d take up to 15 weeks and I’m now at the 15 week mark

Hello All, just wondering how long it took for you to receive acknowledgement of your claim? Mine was sent off 17/5 but I haven't heard anything yet. I didn't send it signed for as the guy at the post office said you couldn't for freepost??? Anyway I have it saved on my PC if I need to print out and send again. Thanks!

Well, today hasn't gone as planned. What I thought would be a straight forward review appointment with my bub's consultant today turned into more tests and an additional diagnosis that I wasn't expecting 😭 She was an absolute superstar and took it all in her stride, even the not so nice bits. It's just all quite a lot to process. Haven't had opportunity to catch up on everyone's posts yet but I'm hoping there has been some good news for you today. I'm still waiting (12/02) but must admit I don't have the headspace to chase it up right now, will wait for a text instead x

Hope you’s are all okay, it’s not so nice to hear things you went expecting I’ve been there but at least now she can get all the help she needs💗

CaitlinAmy12 · 03/06/2024 16:31

Scan date was 16/02, called just a minute ago and got through so quickly. I’ve been told that my boys claim has been sent to the dm so should be here back within the next 5 weeks. He said it should be soon though so 🤞🏼🤞🏼

BlueyMama · 03/06/2024 16:31

Can anyone tell me what is meant by this?
Bottom message is what I replied to an advisor then top is the reply - it's left me a bit confused🙈😂 especially where they've said they have cleared the processing work?

I applied before my sons 5 birthday, he was awarded his HCR from when I applied to a day before his 5th birthday and then they calculated his HRM and HRC from his 5th birthday onwards. They should do it automatically without having to re apply

I applied in January of this year, he's been awarded MRC till 2026 but he's not 5 until end of December so I would of thought it wouldn't be automatically applied with such a length of time having passed? Things could improve or decline in almost 11 months x

I think all evidence has been sent from their side, now it’s case managers i assume once job centre have sent everything off, they don’t hear back, you will x

I also sent mine freepost. Sent ob the 12/2. They scanned on the 19/2 the letter they sent confirming this is dated 6/3. I called before this to make sure they had it before the cut off date which was the 5/3.
Was on hold for a long time to make sure they had it but put my mind at rest
Hope this helps

I had this today but they attached a letter to say that a decision is made & the care element is being back dated, the disability element has to be clarified by DWP first. But nothing was mentioned about child benefit x

Thankyou! This is all very confusing me for me and I'm usually decent at understanding how UC works but not this😂

That's what has confused me I have been getting child benefit for 8 years so I don't know why they've brought that up🤔 I changed the stuff on UC and wrote in the journal just to make sure they've seen it, I'm going to assume they need to double check it all, then ill get notified its sorted. My new statement is in a few days so I'll see if anything has been added onto that or not

it took about 3 weeks for me to receive a letter. I called after two weeks though just to make sure they had received it as my post office said the same and wouldn't let me send it signed for!

I landed lucky, I got a call about having to work more hours & I mentioned about appointment etc & a lovely lady asked did I get DLA....explained he had just been granted it & she updated everything on the computer for me just told me what to write regarding the extra element. She did this on Friday & I got the letter about CE today.....she did say upto 6 weeks for it all to be added the current award x

@Crazyhouse4 honestly I don't believe anything they say! I'm not going to call again, I'll hustle wait and see, it is draining! I wish they would just tell you the truth instead of lying to us.
Be a lot easier for us to know the truth!
It changes every time I call haha!
Fingers crossed we hear soon though ☺️

Hi all, I am completely new to these boards so forgive me if I get any terminology wrong.

I have had acknowledgement by letter that my first application for DLA for my son was accepted on 8/2 - unsure if that's what people are referring to as the scan date?

I've not had any texts although I know they have my mobile number as I had to give it to go through security. I had a second letter in March to tell me the waiting time was 15 weeks.

I called the number on the letter today as this is 15 weeks + 2, to be told that the waiting time is now 20 weeks. So I should only call back if I don't hear by 27 June.

I asked if there was any more info about what stage the claim was at and was told very clearly, no.

I'm seeing lots of people here who seem to have been given much more detailed info about where their claim is at in the process so now I am wondering if I should have asked different questions, called a different number or if I just got a slightly unhelpful call centre person. He wasn't rude or anything, but was quite brisk.

Any insights welcome 🙂

To be honest they all seem to tell you different things, I don't think there is any pattern to it or a particular question you could ask to get any more concrete info.

Last week I was told it was with a DM and to call back Friday for an decision and then on Friday I was told it would be up to 20 weeks and to not call back again until July.

Its a shocking system, they need to look at moving to an online system where we could track our own case 🙈

It does seem all shockingly badly managed. Plus the bizarre incentive to do it all on paper, as that way you get it backdated, when the rest of government stuff is supposed to be "digital by default".

Kim21 · 03/06/2024 18:19

Sd 20/2 also had text today 🤞hoping it's not a decline its a long time to wait if it is

Shezale · 03/06/2024 18:27

my sons claim is due to end of the 1st of july

sebt his renewal forms off back in march was told would be a 11 week wait rang today and was told that is incorrect and a renewal decision will be made 5 days before his claim ends!! so have to wait till the end of this month!

he gets higher rate care at the moment but now has a diagnosis of adhd/ autsim.and global delay. have tried to get high rate mobility using the SMI rules wish me luck!
