Do you think I should? 🤔

I believe you should. I would call each day until they got fed up of me!

I have to move over by Aug aswell. Wait until one week before date given. But remember if you are on uc when you are awarded its tax credits you get backpay from 🤦🏻‍♀️. Date awarded to date moved to uc. Then uc to date you are notified. Just dont get caught out please xx

Thank you for replying. I don’t understand UC at all if I’m honest so many more questions will probably follow! X

Fee89 · 30/05/2024 22:22

@Matilde08 I would say call about 2ish. If they state its on final stages then ask if you can have it done as priority as its caused so much stress and illness for you. Just gives them that extra nudge xx

I received some upsetting news: our son has been rejected for the EHC plan at school. They declined the application, stating that the school already provides part-time Speech and Language therapy for him, and since he doesn't require medication at the moment, they're trying to avoid it for now. It seems like the council expects children to be on medication to qualify for EHC?
Our son, who is almost 6, only speaks a few words and has behavioral issues. He hits other kids, prefers to play alone, struggles with transitions, and has frequent meltdowns. The school fully agrees that he needs an EHC plan.
With this response from the council regarding EHC, I fear that DLA will also be declined.
This situation is absurd, and we will seek assistance from professionals to challenge it.

who put forward the request for assessment, what evidence did you put forward

It's ridiculous that even when asked they don't text🙈 I know they say some DMs do and some don't text but it'd be nice if they actually said if they would or not, it's a good job you phoned! Congrats on award 😊

Definitely, they assured me I would get a text 🙄 😆 I phoned yesterday at 1pm, apparently DM was looking and they will txt, I phoned again at 4pm, they answered at 5.27pm ( couldn't believe it) they said my daughter was awarded hrc lrm so they didn't text me. They txt me last year for my eldest so think they pick and choose who to tell, congrats on your award too 👏 x

@Fee89 hi regarding UC, I was scared to change over but when I did I was way better off, I don't know your circumstances but they give you a instant payment when you apply for what you are entitled too to see you over till your first payment so don't worry, you will not be out of pocket and if you need too you can ask for your payments to be split into every two weeks x

who put forward the request for assessment, what evidence did you put forward

The school put forward the assessment, and we agree. Two weeks ago, the school SENCO asked us if we had heard from them. We said no (we were surprised as we didn't know they would contact us regarding the EHC).
Then we called the council and made a complaint since the school raised this issue three months ago.
We sent the ASC report and certificate, along with everything from the school regarding behavior, etc.
The ASC report clearly states how he is, but he doesn't take any medication yet.
He needs help as he cannot listen to his teacher, he doesn't understand them, he cannot speak, he is very clumsy, and many times he hurts himself. I am not sure what evidence I should provide.
Basically, he will soon be in Year 1 when he will need to stay in one place more and learn, etc. He won't be able to do it.

Help pls.

BTW, Newham Council must be the worse in UK.

Sorry to hear your having a bad time around all this.
we are awaiting EHCP & ASD assessments both sent off via school setting . I don’t know the process or waiting times as we haven’t heard anything from anyone . ASD forms were filled in January and EHCP about 5-6 weeks ago now. It’s so worrying having to wait for decisions on everything to do with our children. Fingers crossed you can get it re looked at and get a positive outcome x

As if it was the same day aswell that they were looking at it and you were awarded it! That's a long ass time to be on hold though! I'd have given up by that point, you've got a lot of patience! I'm surprised when I called it got answered straight away. Fancy being made to think youd get a text and not receiving one though, that would annoy me🙈😂 it definitely looks that way! Thankyou xxx

BTW, Newham Council must be the worse in UK.

I lived in London a long time and have family in Newham, would agree until I moved up north, Gateshead is just as bad if not worse😅

ETA I hope you can get an EHCP sorted, I've heard they can be a nightmare to getbut keep persisting and hopefully you can get somewhere with it, really these things shouldn't be taking all our energy and causing all this stress, it's utterly ridiculous! As if we don't have things hard enough as it is

Sorry your going through this, honestly I get it, my daughter is In year 1, she has just turned 6, she is way behind her peers, teachers say she is working at early reception level, she is disruptive during lesson times, can't sit still, makes alot of
noises (Stimmimg) gets easily emotional and screams, shouts out alot,.the list could go on, I feel so sorry for her, surely your son sounds like he needs to be in the special needs group at school if they have one, fight what ever you have too, hope he gets the support he deserves x

@OneTiredMumma84 @Fee89 I got moved onto UC a couple of years ago and like yous I was absolutely dreading it but honestly it's actually not been bad at all and I'm actually better off than what I was.
I've heard a lot about people saying UC takes ages with a lot of things etc but in my case (luckily) it's been the complete opposite.

I've done that before with other places then they answer and I have to dive to my phone before they hang up😂 it's usually when I'm not expecting them to answer that they do, ahh that's a really good turnaround I'm glad priority sped things up for you! Yeah I'm waiting on UC too they're usually pretty quick where I am but I'm probably gonna end up eating my words now I've said that xxx

@OneTiredMumma84 @BlueyMama @Kla1913 I think its more of changing routine and how long they take to do stuff. I dont want any advances as i dont cope with the feeling of owing money. I work outgoings out every week and i know once a month is 'big week' so thats treat week for the kids. This month it was bowling + take away and new trainers for younger 2 (we pay eldests gym + vitamins etc as she deadlifts). I like my routine and weekly lists 😂

Hi regarding your son needing help and been refused, my son never got the right help till he went into year 1, I had concerns at nursery and they basically thought I was mad he eventually went into reception and cos they at school longer they feel more comfortable so start to show alot more thats when teacher seen real him she sent out referrals he got diagnosed with autism that summer. Now he's in year 1 he's getting more support he's got a 1 on 1 even though funding hasn't been awarded yet the head strongly agreed with his teacher he needs it.. they don't really bother with much support in reception as its still like nursery but year one you should see a change, if they dont give him the help he deserves go to school board and voice your concerns. Schools though can do alot more than they make out and they get funding for him so don't be pushed into a corner stand your ground after all you no your child better than anyone, good luck 🤞🏻

I didn’t send in night diary and I should of done as he’s awake a lot thu night and was said on his notes he’s in school late or tired most days from being awake at nights and he still needs me to wipe him and wash him and do his teeth every day .

Ljstar · 31/05/2024 09:20

Just thought i'd update on what they're saying at the minute..

My scan date is 15/02, I called on Tuesday to make sure they had received my extra evidence and the lady said they had and my claim was with a case manager and to call back today to see if a decision had been made.

I have just called and the lady said no decision has been made and to not call again until July! She said most cases are taking up to 20 weeks.

Starting to think it's going to be rejected / i haven't sent enough info

I've sent ASD diagnosis reports, epilepsy diagnosis, paediatrian reports over the last 5 years, individual health plan for school, provision map for school, MRI notes, Speech & language notes, OT notes, ADHD referral notes, melatonin & keppra prescription details but I didn't fill in a sleep diary which i'm reading most people send in. I did explain his struggles with sleep and the paediatrician notes confirm this too.

Does anyone think I need to send further evidence? This process is giving me such anxiety 😫
