@Matilde08 Oh wow, well done him. You must be soooo proud 🥰 what is he going to study?

@sayasand I'v no idea what system they are working at. Seems to be if the claim lands on correct d.ms pile 🤷🏻‍♀️. But im glad your evidence is there and can be looked at proper.

@Zoes3d1 Ah bless you. So lovely 🥰🌸. Will help wherever i can if i know the answer 😂

Congratulations on awards today 💝

Hi can anyone help
my daughter has been awarded dla middle rate,
ive asked for disabled element backdating, however i already care for a friend and get carers allowance and carers element for him, i know i cant claim carers allowance for two but can i only get carers element for one person ?

Matilde08 · 28/05/2024 15:08

@Fee89 I am... excited but in the same time a bit sad. All those milestones come with a little sorrow as well. Like a first born he had that strong bond with dad, they had a loads of chats where dad was asking to help mum with brothers. I think that's one of the reasons why he grow up so quick and mature after his dad died. He will do mechanical engineering. My second one who's now 15 have choose same, engineering. All my four boys are very strong with maths, physics, science. These are all the subjects I was rubbish in school. 🤣 So definitely does not run from me. Even my youngest one with special needs is bright in maths.

Hi All, no update from me today but just wanted to check in on everyone and say congratulations on the awards today; it's nice to see some good news. Sending good vibes to everyone still waiting 💐

Hi everyone
what seems to be the average wait time now for new claims?

Hi everyone
what seems to be the average wait time now for new claims?

From following these threads it seems so random but mostly between 15 and 20 weeks but rarely before the 15 weeks I seen unless priority cases xx

Lulu2125 · 28/05/2024 18:20

Can anyone please advise me? Or know anything about renewals. I am SO SO stressed also due dc3 any day now I can barely think straight and have so much going on. This is the first time I’ve done a renewal

Eldest was awarded for 2 years ending 20/06/2024. LRC LRM. Diagnosed autistic

I received renewal form sent back and my scan date is 06/03/2024

I rang about 3 weeks ago to check progress and was told was with a DM and to call back next week.

called following week to be told it hasn’t been to a DM and is “on the pile” and to call back next week.

called today to be told by the most unhelpful call handler so far almost nothing, other than “I will hear before it’s due to end”

I was due and received normal payment today my next payment takes us to 25/06/24 so award no longer relevant then. What happens with payment owed from today to 20/06 when award ends?

i am panicking now 1 he's lost his award
2 it’s going to run out before they’ve looked at it and 3 about disabled child element on uc if he’s lost his award I’m going to end up owing them money. I know their letters are never prompt and I asked today if I was able to get text updates instead but he basically just fobbed me off and said you’ll get a letter once a decision is made. I’m so so fed up of all this 😢

It’s quite normal for them to only look at renewals a few days before it expires, I’d give it another couple of weeks and call just before the end date of current claim….dont panic it will definitely be sorted but just closer to the end date xx

Thankyou, I just don’t know why they backtracked? Just got it in my head it’s bad news :(. The wait truly is awful

I did a renewal for my oldest son in Feb 2023, at the time I sent the paperwork in Oct 22 and the award wasn't sorted until like 2 weeks before renewal was due. Reasoning as I understood it at the time was, they're trying to get new claims waiting list down so they prioritise those. They let the renewals come about 2 weeks shy before they sort it. This was last year though so could have changed now.

Regarding the payment from 20/06 til award end date. They pay based on daily amount. So divide what you get every 4 weeks by 28 (for your daily amount). Times it by the amount of days between 20/06 and the end date and you should expect that payment to be made at the end of the claim (if you are not reawarded). If you are, payment dates will remain every 28 days as they are. You'll get your current rate from 20/6 til end date and new rates (if changed) from end date til next payment day. I hope this makes sense.

I felt just as anxious as yourself since they leave it so close it's like you can't plan anything, I understand your anxiety very much. Personally I'd keep ringing once a week and keep on at them. I'm really sorry that you've had a bad caller, don't let that deter you though! It's recommended via this thread to use 1523 as the options you choose as people have found it's nicer people who answer and they seem to have more information available to them. I've used this today myself and had the same experience. Hope this is helpful to you and best of luck ♥️

Hi I have been these threads for weeks 😂😂 currently slowly sending myself insane my scan date is 12/2 I am now slowly convincing myself that I probably won’t get an award for my daughter panicking that I haven’t sent enough I only attached her diagnosis letter the original pead letter from 2021 and the school SEND plan she doesn’t have an EHCP I am assuming I still have a good few weeks ahead to it’s a long and lonely wait and coming on here and reading everyone’s else’s posts really has made me feel so much less alone x

I'm the same scan date, I've found as time goes on I've become more anxious that it's going to be a decline. I sent a document stating diagnosis signed by consultant and wrote 5 pages about care needs/how condition affects my bub but I'm not sure if it's enough or what they're looking for. Fingers crossed we hear soon 🤞🏼

Flumpettyflump77 · 28/05/2024 19:26

@Lulu2125 I recently had this issue and my DCs renewal date had actually passed, and it still hadn't been looked at. I'd called to chase it up a week before to be told that we'd continue receiving the same amount every 4 weeks until a decision had been made.

Then the day after the renewal date, I called up for an update to be told that the claim had fully ended, even though it was with a decision maker waiting to be looked at! I asked to speak to a manager as that wasn't the information I was told originally and needed to know what was happening.

The manager was lovely. Confirmed that payment dates still continued until a decision has been made. It ended up being renewed 3 days after the renewal date.

It's an awfully anxious time. I do feel for everyone waiting for news and outcomes of new claims and renewals. It's not like we don't have enough going on.

I think where its just constantly on your mind the doubt starts to set if I’m correct I think we only have 4/5 weeks ish left of waiting lol 😂 fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Thank you. We were very fortunate that it was awarded without MR or tribunal 🙏

@Matilde08 Awww they do grow up way too quick. I still remember my eldest as a baby 😔. Seriously couldnt go back to that stage now though. I love watching them grow and looking forward to seeing what adult life has for them 💖

I'm feeling exactly the same.
1st person told me quite a few weeks back I'd get a letter 2 weeks before the end "to say it had been accepted" so there me thinking it had already been done. Then last week to see if the award had been done ready as ours ends 22/06 to be told it's in a holding pile. And I said how I was worried about the award running out and not getting any money (I think it's paid in arrears anyway so we will get a payment in June and then it should be sorted for July payment) I don't think she realised what she said to me because she then said your next payment is 25/06 and then 23/07 with new award and I said so it's been done then and she said not yet your next payment is 25/06 and if it's renewed your payments will continue after that from 23/07 so hoping she's said it by mistake. My mind is in overdrive too trying to not worry about it I just don't know how they can all tell you different things no wonder we are all over the place with things. Got my fingers crossed for you hun. X

Thanks for you reply!

Yeah I think my DD should definitely qualify for HRC, she sleeps 2-3 hours at at time all through the night I have seen every hour of the day the past 3 years, she had an incident at around 3.30am she woke up and splashed all in cleaning products and ended up with really bad chemical burns and was close to a skin graft but thankfully it healed itself 🙏🏼 but of course with DLA anything is possible they could still give lower!

The HRM is just so worrying for me, she should qualify under SMI/VUW rules but I know they are funny, I don’t want to make my mental health bad fighting for it to just end up the same outcome 🫣 the whole process is so hard on us already tired mamas! ☹️

My son has just been awarded HRC and I tried to go for HRM under SMI rule and didn't win, he's nearly 3 so it was to consider it for when he is 3, but I never got it for him

has anybody done a MR for tax credits? It’s the disabled element back pay for TC, similar to UC but they call it severely disabled child tax credit. My HMRC notification said i would hear back in 15 days. Currently on Day 19, i dont want to call yet as its been BH so im waiting a few more days. Theyve argued the toss with me because i didnt inform them within 1 month but i had to mitigate over to UC and didnt know i had to. They owe me over 3k due to the very long DLA wait i had last year for my youngest (31 weeks).

Just wondering if theres anyone on the thread whos dealing with MRs with TCs?

good luck to everyone waiting this week ❤️

I called up TC on Thursday to say I was awarded dla for my son and will receive my full back pay this Thursday and then the new amount from Friday. You have to call it for back pay otherwise they won't do it if you have done it over the app

TheSnappyTurtle · 28/05/2024 22:19

@Mommy2boys30 Thank you! Thats really helpful. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and fingers crossed someone will help. Ive been passed back and forth between UC and TC. I just wanted it sorted out. Tired of the fight

Hopefully they will for you, they will do it manually as they had to with me go into last tax year award and do it all but was all sorted within 24 hrs and showing in the app what to expect, nightmare for you

Aussielover · 29/05/2024 06:38

@Mommy2boys30 when you say you didn't win, do you mean you went to tribunal and didn't win or you wasn't awarded when they made the decision?
Can I ask what evidence you submitted x
