NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2024 07:11

I know they have mine as I sent it Special. Hopefully I'm just in a backlog.

Sounds just like my son also 3 except we haven’t started nursery yet as working with portage for now and starting stay & play sessions.

Frequent meltdowns, difficult to transition from one place to another, awake at night and impossible to settle, hits out mostly at me and his younger brother, I’ve already had two black eyes from him lashing out 😔 Same limited food everyday, screams if I even approach him with anything else.
Oh and don’t dare touch any of the toys he’s carefully lined up 😂

But he is soo intelligent (loves numbers and colours too) and is such a cuddly happy and loving little boy just cannot express his needs and struggles to understand things. I have found that singing has helped him sooo much with his speech while we are waiting for SALT as has not drawing attention to any negative behaviour. It’s so difficult, I’m still learning as I go along.

Not even filled out the dreaded DLA form for him yet, I just can’t face it after what I went through with my daughters form and still waiting to hear back 😩

Hope things improve for you, and that you get the news you are hoping for soon 🍀 x

Oh all sounds so familar, everywhere I go around the house are lines of cars, if he comes into my room he will line all the cans of mousse and hairspray and if I touch them I'm an absolute criminal. Real bad sensory difficulties don't even ask about teeth brushing and hair cuts.

Yes I'm learning so much every day, he is a Gestalt language processor so I find modelling sentences works better than how speech and language actually teach. Portage have been amazing and we have literally just started settling in nursery one hour a day but even that hour can be very long on a bad day. I have a meeting today with senco and portage who are coming together which is great. I'd rather keep him home to be honest but I feel I need support towards the EHCP process.

P.s. 6ft trampoline taking over living room is the best thing I have ever bought 😂 I also a made a little sensory room under the stairs with mirrors and fish lights which works very well

NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2024 07:39

My son (who was awarded DLA two years ago now) is the one who causes us to walk on eggshells. I said in the Ed Psych meeting at school (to prepare for the EHCP application) that nothing is fun, as you're constantly preempting what could trigger him next. We compared it to the Terminator, constantly scanning the horizon! 😩

He also has very restricted eating. It's so hard finding stuff he will eat. Then you do, you fill the freezer with it, and he then instantly stops eating it!

DD is very different with her autism, but she should be getting to be independent now, and she just needs so much help / prompting with everything that it's exhausting. Just differently exhausting to DS' needs!

Parking 31/1. Quick question ladies i was told yesterday that it's on system that I should of been asked to send in birth certifate and it may take up to two weeks fir me to recieve the letter requesting it but it shudnt delay my claim. Do I have to wait till I recieve the letter or can I just send in today special delivery with cover note ?

Mamma2Boys92 · 16/05/2024 08:19

Time line update for those waiting. Scan date was 30.01. Marked as priority (I had genuine reason) if i remember correctly on Tuesday last week. Called Wednesday and DS had been awarded HRC and LRM. Tuesday back pay went in the bank and received the award letter that afternoon. 2 year award. Stay strong <3

No it isn't needed for everyone, seems to be needed with most of the younger children from what I have seen. Was needed for my son and he is 3

Did everyone have someone to fill the is there anyone else who can support you question in? My son's school wrote a letter for me to send as evidence rather than fill it in, do you think that will affect anything or cause a decline? x

I can work out your rates if you would like me to. Just need date you called for forms. Or if you printed yourself and backpay amount. Congratulations 💝 x

Edited

If anything that will go in your favour. Having a letter from school is good evidence x
