I gave my mobile number but didn't receive any text messages, only 1 letter from dla Xx

What’s your scan date? We’re 19/03 I have had 3 letters first 2 together: req birth cert & scan date letter then last week another letter saying we’re still looking

Crazyhouse4 · 15/05/2024 17:55

Mialeighx · 15/05/2024 17:46

Can I ask people that received texts, was your number just inside the form on contact details? I have only received letters so far but haven’t called up

It’s on the form to supply your phone number

Mine is 22/03 so just few days after you Xx

I had 1 letter and hopefully will get another soon because we'll be 8 weeks.

29/04 a long wait

Edited

That's the date mine was signed for. Have you had a letter confirming your claim has been received yet?

Persianpoppy · 15/05/2024 18:14

My loves,

I just wanted to say my scan date was 04/01 and I know sometimes it can be upsetting seeing people get awarded with scan dates after you. However I feel like these threads are amazing as an outlet for all of us.
All of our precious babies deserve to be awarded and although it's not clear on what order claims are processed and if what order, just know that myself along with others that have been awarded are still here for those still awaiting awards. We will still be that ear listening as we can all appreciate that the stress from these claims is horrendous at times!

My love and prayers for all those awaiting decisions and I hope those waiting gets everything and more for their precious little ones!

❤️❤️

Kittykatmumof4 · 15/05/2024 18:39

Do I have to put on uc the date that my form was scanned on to the system? To get the disability element?

bloom1927 · 15/05/2024 18:41

@Kittykatmumof4 tell them the date awarded and the date dla back dated it to and also you can ask uc to backdate their payment too to the same date dla back dated it

HeartyGuide · 15/05/2024 15:40

Good afternoon everyone,
I have been following these posts for quite sometime and am waiting on a dla claim to be decided.
I have seen some users being given priority due to their current circumstances and earlier today there were some very choice posts, which surprised me, anyway I just wanted to give you all an insight on how things may be processed.
DLA receive thousands of claims a day, as do many departments within the benefit system and local authorities, hb, ctax etc.
There seems to be a huge increase in claims, hence the timescales.
To process claims fairly they are dealt with in date order, this is the easiest and fairest way to process.
Sometimes when it gets to a decision maker they may write for further information which they feel is required for the claim.
If some one believes they are in hardship they can ask for their claim to be processed quicker based on their circumstances. This will be determined by a dm as to whether it is a priority.
If there is a terminal illness claim these are dealt with as a priority and quite quickly, obviously because of the nature of the claim.
Finally, the customer service staff taking the calls, yes some may be abrupt and some rude which may not be acceptable but they are dealing with you all as the first point of call and they are not dm's and can only give the very basics and yes it may not be the same every time, because it is probably changing on a daily basis.
Please don't give up on your claims they will be dealt with but it will take time and if you are not successful/ or do not agree with the award the you can request a mandatory reconsideration.
This will also take some time due to the fact of the amount of claims being received, it has a knock on effect for MR's.
I hope that I have not offended anyone, as I have found that you are all supportive of one another, it is hard for you all.
Thanks

@HeartyGuide This is bang on. I’m a manager in HB/CTAX for my local authority and like you said we get so many claims day in day out.

We currently have a backlog dating back to January due to staff shortages and an increased number of claims due to the cost of living crisis.
The teams work so hard (I know mine do) and try to help everyone as fairly and quickly as possible but at the same time there is legislation that has to be followed and sometimes this can take longer if further information is required.
If there are special circumstances then of course some claims will be prioritised at the discretion of managers etc. I know in my work we prioritise potentially evictions and temporary/supported accommodation claims due to the level of vulnerability but that does not mean other claims are forgotten about or not treated as important.

I know it’s frustrating and I know first hand that being given different information is confusing but I think we need to try to remember that the DM’s can only do so many claims a day and are bound by legislation as to what decisions they can and can’t make with the information at hand.

Trust me, I know from the other side that we wish we could help everyone straight away and give people everything we think they deserve but unfortunately that’s not how it works.

My point in this post is to try to stay positive as your decision will come as soon as possible. Try not to compare your dates and circumstances to other people’s and just keep the faith that your child will get what they deserve ❤️

It’s an awful feeling, waiting for validation off a stranger that has never met your child 😣

Absolutely and the dreaded thought you’ve not put enough information in. Also worried that since we’ve been waiting we now have even more assessments that’s have been done. Seen more specialists and wish they knew this Information to😫😫

The positive thing about that is if you need to do an MR you can use this as evidence or keep it for renewal

Matilde08 · 15/05/2024 18:53

👋🏻 hi into thread nr43! Hopefully for me the last one, but I was thinking the same since thread 40 🤦🏻‍♀️🤭🙃😫😆 I tried to call them today, but was too long on hold and thought maybe it's a sign it's not the right day as I'm still on mini holidays with my hubby and having that well deserved self time. Will come back home tomorrow..back to reality and back to face this 'case' again and do everything it's sorted finally as half of year is unacceptable.
Was reading end of last thread and all I can say we all have to understand each of us holds our own story and back ground with our special children. I have been very patient with my decision all those 24 weeks as I know there's more serious cases whose need to be sorted. In the same time I have a rights to feel extra anxious to see so many awarded even though I know our case is different with my little ones claim. What frustrates me that there's no proper scheme how's the claims been prioritised. Even though they need additional checks to be done because of my sons father's death and pension he's receiving, he's still special needs and deserves to be treated like others who eligible for this support.

@Newtothisnow my youngest got awarded HCR and LMR with no evidence and no diagnosis. Im not sure if they did any checks in the background but i didnt send anything. That was last year. Scan date 28/04/2023 awarded end of nov. Im on week 12 for my oldest atm and have fought with UC and still fighting TC. By the time im done itll be my youngests renewal 🤪

Mog999 · 15/05/2024 19:20

Scan date 26/1 ..called up 2 days ago and was told I'd hear by 13th June! 2 x letters no texts!

Today I can see a payment from DLA is going into my bank on Friday! I'm so relieved I've struggled since my son was small and didn't apply until this year (he's 14) as I just can't provide him with all his needs by working full time and doing overtime.

@Notyouraveragemum0 Aww love that! Do you enjoy it?

I was a Benefit assessment officer for 8 years but have been a manager with my own team of 10 assessment officers for 3 years now. Hard work but so rewarding xx

Ljstar · 15/05/2024 19:22

Hi everyone

Congrats on everyone's awards today ❤️ it's such a rough rode waiting for the outcome.

My scan date is 15th February. My son has epilepsy, ASD, suspected Arfid & ADHD. I have sent quite a bit of evidence but I recently realised I haven't sent my sons Individual health care plan (from school) or his ADHD referral form / questionaire from his school.

Firstly, would you recommend sending the extra evidence?

Secondly, does anyone have the address I could send it to?

thanks all 😊

HeartyGuide · 15/05/2024 19:22

@Nickij2024 Thank you. I worked in hb/ctax for many years and worked with a great team too. I can only imagine what the case loads are at present, as you explained in your post.
It's not an easy job and takes a little while to be a competent officer.
I feel your pain with the backlog, I have been there many moons ago, January is a long back log and you all probably feel as if you are never catching up, no matter how many hours you do.
When I left I was a senior recovery officer, I can only imagine the case loads now with the col crisis.
Anyway there is hope for everyone as they know their claims will eventually be processed
