DLA WAITING TIME 2024

I didn't 🤦‍♀️ this is what I mean I just thought because I had that letter and I included a report from the school that was sent to the consultant, that would be enough. They do have the schools details but they aren't very supportive and that's a whole other matter. I've also since sent a sleep diary. Fingers crossed I've not messed it up

It's finally Monday morning..... Who's calling today?
I will be but not til 10-10.30am ish depending on how busy I am at work.
Hoping there's lots of positive news before I get through x

@RayahB yeah schools can be very difficult at times if children mask . My son didn’t know the meaning and was in a special needs school early on but my daughter masked well until she was about 6. Now she’s getting worse and the school are more supportive and like oh yes I see that now !!! I’m like well I wasn’t lying she just saved it for me ! I didn’t have loads of evidence for her compared to my son who I had literally a folder jam packed with evidence. I’m just intrigued to see what others put when they get declined etc so I’m ready x

@Jempeech mine is 3 yo (44 months) he was born with coccaine and heroine in his system (he's adopted), suspected Feotal Alcohol Syndrome, suspected ADD / ADHD, been to see a private consultant back in Jan (5 page report) waiting for community paeds (but can take up to 80 weeks hence why we took him to private consultant), he's on referral for Education Psychologist via nursery, he's been reviewed by inclusion team and they referring him for EHCP - was at SaLT last week (after 9 month wait) although they say his S&L is on target they did say his understanding / cognitive / attention is way below and also said they he's likely to have ADD - still in pull-up pants as he just won't potty train (tried and tried) - he'll go to anyone (which worries me senseless) and to say he's hyper is a vast understatement - even this morning at 5am he was up and about and the houses 2 miles away could hear him I'm sure. (Got awarded LRC for his toilet needs - nothing else - hence the MR - did they even read the rest ? )

@Jempeech oh and to add teh inclusion team (via SENCO referral) put him at 12-18 months in his understanding etc / 18-24 in two other categories, and 24-30 in terms of his mobility

Hey new here. 😬 but been watching this thread. Scan date was 4/1 for my son. Called dla yesterday. The guy was lovely down the phone but I’m informed me the wait is over 20weeks! Said it’s not even with anyone still and no decision. Wil know 3rd of June..

@LancsMcG I would definitely be fighting that one . We have a child in school very very similar he’s slightly older but I know his adoptive parents got awarded HRC AND HRM!!!!! So they need to pull their fingers out for your child. X

I tried with him over the phone. Said my son had it before 3 years ago then declined him the last year as waited on being diagnosed so put in again in Jan. but he just kept saying 3rd June. That’s 5 months. It’s so stressful. I sent in all his letters,information proof. They also stopped him for two years without dla when we had received for a year. If anything he is worse.But now it’s confirmed so you lovely people think I should take that further? Hope u all hear soon. It’s been a struggle.fingers crossed

@Jellyjade3 Sounds like you have been through the ringer 🤦🏻‍♀️. Things change with Dla so quick, if you called friday morning example then friday evening it could be with a d.m. Give them call at 9 and see what progress its made over weekend x

I have put in for dla twice before son got diagnosed with asd at the age of 8 junior school didn't help even when working 2 years behind said he didn't need ehcp until secondary school basically they couldn't be bothered with all the work involved got ehcp at age 11 at secondary school got worse now getting excluded walking out of class ta with him every lesson hope we can get a result this time now age 13 same food everyday real bad sensory problem have to keep telling him to do personal care as will not touch soap produces doesn't go to bed till 2/3 in the morning melt downs getting him up for school hope we hear lots of awards today good luck

Scan date 19/12
( Application on hold as they await information from school. Daughter masks well and not officially diagnosed yet so no evidence from professionals. I’ve sent a diary and additional information as her behaviour and emotions became worse but other than that, nothing to back the application up).

Hoping for good news for all.

How is everyone elses morning going 🤦🏻‍♀️ telling my 17 yr old her temp is fine and get her butt to her apprentice (stayed up late on animal crossing). Arguing with the boy that he's not moving to America to be a cop just so he can get a gun, then asking if police in scotland need to like haggis & irnbru 🤦🏻‍♀️ (he's 12 & not funny). Telling the 10 yr old its too cold for shorts this morning, she tried proving it wasnt by using the thermometer on her legs 😫

At that point i just knew to walk away 😂 x
