Thank you all for your support. I was going to reply to everyone individually but that would have taken me all afternoon.
So my son was diagnosed with ODD last years.
We dont get any support from school because he's in top sets and he masks, in school he is just a 'normal child' if you know what I mean.
But we have daily/ hourly meltdowns outbursts you name it.
He's 11.
I still have to sleep with him every night as he doesn't settle, he goes to bed at 8.30 so that means I go to bed at 8.30, if I wake up in the night and go to the toilet etc he wakes up and won't go back to sleep until I am back in bed.
My poor partner has been on the sofa for 11 years!
I've referred him to cahms we had a assessment and they said it sounded like he had bad anxiety, but then we get a letter through the door a week later saying they are discharging us.
Just been a battle for years.
I'm sorry to moan, I'm sat here thinking maybe he shouldn't be accepted for DLA, because I know alot of you have children that actually really need the support and help.
I'm going to have a think about it and decide what to do but I wanted to thank you all for your support. You guys have really helped me over the last 15 weeks, it's like a little family.
I wish you all the best and congratulations to everyone who has been awarded. You all deserve it x

Yes maybe have a sit and think about the decision they've told you today it's alot to take in and then decide what you what to do when you've fully registered.
He sounds a bit like my son only my son has to have SEN support in school and is achieving below his expected age academically. Is there anyone else that can do you a report of him that knows him? We got no where with CAHMS because my son told them he didn't want their help and he desperately does need their help they discharged him I did ask how a child aged 11 with additional needs knew or understand whether they needed help or not they couldn't answer it so I feel you in that part.
Have a good think. Everyone is here for you xx

Anxiouslywaitingmum · 24/04/2024 13:55

After a couple of hours thinking, and speaking to my friend who helped me with the phone, I'm going to wait for the letter and then do a MR. Or do i ask for a MR and then send them a letter???
Thank you all so much for your kind words and I've really appreciated the private messages too xx

Feebie1962 · 24/04/2024 13:55

Long time watcher. Scan date 1/1/24.

Called them today and daughter has been awarded mcr. Honestly didn't think she would as she has mild learning difficulties.

Hope you all get the outcome you want 🙏

I'm sure you can call and ask for a MR over the phone
Ask them for the reasons why it was declined then write a letter arguing your point with each reason
Send them information about masking at school

Good luck x

Got through, my letter states my application was received 8/1 but the gentleman on the phone said it was scanned 1/2. This is putting me 3 weeks more behind than I thought we were, I’m so frustrated 😭

I put my MR in over the phone and then sent them a letter with reasons why my daughter should be awarded and further evidence. Good look with your MR x

Hi guys I’m a long time lurker, scan date 09/01/24 and I just wanted to say I rang up today and been awarded high rate care I feel like crying as I can now care for him. I’ve currently been working while having broken sleep and usually only get 3 hours sleep a night so it’s been very rough for me being unable to go to bed when he’s at nursery. And then the sleep deprivation while he’s cranky and having meltdowns is really hard on me. I’m so so relieved. Good luck guys I’ll be thinking of you all c:

So she’s been awarded HRC (no mobility as she’s only 3 which I expected) until December 2025 😭 I was hoping for MRC so I’m absolutely over the moon for her. Scan date 8th Jan and decision was made 22nd April - just awaiting back pay and letter now🥰

Congratulations 🥳 my child is 3 and a half and was hoping for HRM she has severe autism do they not provide this young?

Jkiss · 24/04/2024 15:51

Tried ringing to find out what rate she has got, got told wait for the letter. She didn’t even bother taking details or nothing

Bossofthehouse · 24/04/2024 15:53

For anyone that has had autism diagnosed at 3, what is the process to get a diagnosis? My child has been referred to a community paediatrician from the gp but requested by her nursery, I’m still waiting to see if they accept the referral so we’re right at the beginning 😣

RayahB · 24/04/2024 16:06

I just called again as although the man was very friendly the other day he didn't give much information.

The phone was answered straight away! He said it's with the correct team so I'm not sure what that means? I sent in more evidence that I was scared was going to take weeks to be uploaded but tracking showed me it was delivered yesterday and he told me it's been scanned onto the system so that's quick!

Scan date 17/01 anxious and waiting

thats interesting that extra stuff can be scanned so quick. I sent extra evidence Monday afternoon. So didn’t post it until 5pm, paid £7 to send it all tracked and it showed as being delivered by 5am Tuesday morning. I could see my letter in the pile and I was looking, hoping and praying it gets scanned on the system quickly 😂
im a few weeks behind you but this wait is consuming my whole head space at the moment

Hi my son got diagnosed at 3, the nursery referred him to the local authorities SEND early years inclusive service at the age of 2, we got assigned a support worker who then did all the referrals to the paediatrician, speech and language therapy and an occupational therapist. We waited for about 1 and half year to receive an official diagnosis after being seen by multiple professionals. We also finally now in the process for my sons ehcp to be completed and approved.

Do you want your child to start a specialist school or mainstream? My only regret was that I didn’t request for his ehcp to be completed earlier by now he would have had a school place of my choice. He is now 4 and is expected to start receptions at a mainstream school in September however it’s very unlikely that I’ll take him.

Akkhan94 · 24/04/2024 16:50

Congratulations to everyone that has been awarded!!!! Jan to April so that's about 4 months so i should be looking at June because I sent my COC in March . Good luck to us newbies now !!!!

My sons 4 and is currently being assessed for autism, just sent off his questionnaires. Once they acknowledge the referral, you and school/nursery will have to fill out questionnaires. They will be used to determine the assessment process.

for my son we already know he has severe autism. It’s just really for documentation purposes to support him with getting into a specialist school.

Motherofoneboy · 24/04/2024 17:38

Congratulations to those who got awarded today!

And good luck to those who are still waiting.

The ones who have been declined, I am so sorry but don't give up! You know you're child needs more than anyone so keep on fighting 💪

Don't give up, we are all with you ladies xx

ARGHH!!!! Why are we sat here waiting like idiots and listening to their bullshit every day when call handler's are marking a march claim as priority? All our kids are a bloody priority (unless terminally ill child that goes without saying). Seriously so bloody mad. Oct 9th i had to watch my child almost die, discuss if she needed to be put in a coma to give her body a rest. Stay in HDU. Asking me if shes to die would her diabetes go away. Shes fucking 10!!! Yet i couldnt apply for dla for 3 fucking months. Like an idiot i wait then apply in January and so far waiting another 3 months. The whole system is fucked. I'v been so calm and supportive with the wait untill seeing that. I'm done!!!!!!! 😡. Good luck everyone x

Oh hun I’m so sorry 🙁💔. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through honestly you are such a strong momma 💕
as for those damn call handlers they haven’t got a clue! If they lived a day in our shoes they would have some sympathy and not make us chase around like rats constantly lying to us as if we already don’t have enough to deal with!!
The system needs changing and I think something will be done soon I’ve read they get close to 20,000 applications a month !! They can’t keep up like this.
really hoping you hear something soon xxx
