DLA WAITING TIME 2024

OP posts:
Anxiouslywaitingmum · 24/04/2024 11:51

Thank you all for your support. I was going to reply to everyone individually but that would have taken me all afternoon.
So my son was diagnosed with ODD last years.
We dont get any support from school because he's in top sets and he masks, in school he is just a 'normal child' if you know what I mean.
But we have daily/ hourly meltdowns outbursts you name it.
He's 11.
I still have to sleep with him every night as he doesn't settle, he goes to bed at 8.30 so that means I go to bed at 8.30, if I wake up in the night and go to the toilet etc he wakes up and won't go back to sleep until I am back in bed.
My poor partner has been on the sofa for 11 years!
I've referred him to cahms we had a assessment and they said it sounded like he had bad anxiety, but then we get a letter through the door a week later saying they are discharging us.
Just been a battle for years.
I'm sorry to moan, I'm sat here thinking maybe he shouldn't be accepted for DLA, because I know alot of you have children that actually really need the support and help.
I'm going to have a think about it and decide what to do but I wanted to thank you all for your support. You guys have really helped me over the last 15 weeks, it's like a little family.
I wish you all the best and congratulations to everyone who has been awarded. You all deserve it x

Do anyone know how long uc take to sort back payment out for higher rate dla? And how much extra they give?

Hi I received my back pay from
uc yesterday after 2 weeks. Make sure you request both caters element and the disabled child element. I had to keep messaging and call them unfortunately.

Ugh am so sorry to hear that. Please don’t give up xx keep on fighting even if it’s taking it to tribunal.

katiewil · 24/04/2024 12:02

@UmElise will they backdate even if I don't claim carers? I work so don't think I'm allowed to claim that? Mines been 2 weeks today and haven't heard anything i may give them a call now

Fee89 · 24/04/2024 12:16

Matilde08 · 24/04/2024 11:40

I called them yesterday and have been told by very unchatty slow motion male voice our claim is with decision maker, if nothing back in following 2 weeks, call them again. I'm trying to be patient and wait at least another week and then call. But seeing so many awards today but by finding out on phone, makes me anxious -what if-

Things can change so quick aswell with dla you dont know if your coming or going xx

Looks like... and I guess I need to call them anyway as soon as possible. Because I just realised that I changed my surname in my bank as well right after did a claim, because of marriage 🤦🏻‍♀️ They should have received my marriage certificates copy by now, but totally forgot to let them know it needs to be changed on bank details as well. A bit busy today.. but I think I should call them first thing in the morning after school runs.

@UmElise yeah I didn't think I'd be entitled to anything for caring as i work full time- got moved over from tax credits to universal just before i claimed for DLA so unsure of how it all works Confused
