Scan date 03/01/24
Had 2 letters and a couple of texts and payments gone in today but no texts to say been awarded. Currently on hold (1 hour and counting) to find out rates.

I'm 04/01 and makes me nervous knowing that someone near my scan date has been awarded, congratulations on your award x

Oh.. thanks.. you have already answered.
It makes total sense then. Yes, we claim child benefit, but he's not born in UK. Moved here when he was a baby.

Give them a call tomorrow see what the hold up is. Call in the morning straight at 9 it’ll be less of a wait x

MRC and LRM- Im really happy they have put on mobility for when my child turns 5 (in a month) but Im sad about the MRC. I think he should be HRC.
He is 1-2-1 whenever awake, wakes lots in night, reg toileting changes day and night, stims crazily at night, no danger awareness, non-verbal, doesnt really understand what you say..etc....
MR or just leave it?
I had about 30pages of evidence so I doubt it will be reduced, but no evidence of night needs as who else would know except parents?

Edited

Hiii congrats xx go for mr. For hrc evidence for night time needs is not always needed. I didn’t send in any evidence in regards to nighttime needs and I was still awarded hrc but no mobility. Iam also doing mr for hrm. With 30 pages of evidence there’s no way they can reduce your current award if not increase it. Goodluck all the best xx

When you received your letters the reference will either be the child's NI number (2 letters 6 numbers 1 letter format, I think) if they don't have an NI number I think it's prefixed with CL for a clerical case. From the sound of things someone proof reads the application if an award is likely they'll send off for the NINo and then once that's received it'll go back to a DM for the final decision.

Can I ring up and ask what’s going on people who sent forms in January are getting told if they have been accepted or not yet mine was done December and still not been told anything how can people be finding out before us who did them before them

If it makes you feel any better ours has been with them since the start of November, it has been with DM for over a month. They are waiting for additional info from school and OT, and without it can’t make a decision. Some of us just end up with longer claims than others depending on what our child’s needs and or diagnoses are.

Summerrabbit · 09/04/2024 18:40

@TheHeadOfTheHouse , that’s good news! Congrats! I’m the same scan date as you, if you hadn’t called then I wonder when you would have been notified? I’m wondering if I should call them tomorrow maybe.

Thanks. The last letter I got from them about he's claim has only reference number, so I guess that could be the reason of long waiting then as they are waiting for his NI number.
Actually I have claimed for Carer's Allowance before, but that was years ago and can't remember much and totally different case (terminal ill spouse) But I managed to find the letter and it has mine NI number like a reference. So, it confirms that that most likely NI number is an issue here for this long waiting.

Clf2024 · 09/04/2024 19:00

Im 18/01 and seeing awards getting closer to mine is making me nervous!

I sent about 50 pages of evidence off, my son was born at 24 weeks and has about 10 professionals involved for various conditions so hoping ours is straightforward 🤞

SWood88 · 09/04/2024 19:09

I rang on 26/3 to be told it was with a DM, rang again today still no decision. Scan date 10/12, the wait is so frustrating. I presumed it was done in date order but I’ve seen a few awarded with dates after mine 😩

Channy2777 · 09/04/2024 19:14

Yes been knock back twice and took it to tribunal but his primary school never backed me only now he's at secondary school I have support

Tasha0429 · 09/04/2024 19:37

@bobo1214 🙌🙌 thank the lord you said that! Someone gets it, alot of comments today on here people whinging about people who heard before them ect it's not the person's fault whos scan date is January 😂🙈 There isn't just one DM guys and one office, there are loads so obviously the order ain't going to be day for day, it'd be longer of a wait if you all want them to do it in a correct order it's impossible, And not everyone is a new claim, there's COC which are taking a long time to, and the forms are half the size! It's not a competition, and sometimes reading more evidence can take longer, or people that have literally highlighted points they want them to read can make a big difference to your claim! People who do that might get quicker decisions 🤷 sorry for the long post 😂 I get you all are getting frustrated.

mumtumok · 09/04/2024 19:50

Hi all I was awarded if February but went for a reconsideration , think I’m about 6 weeks in . How long are they taking with mr at the moment does anyone know x

Matilde08 · 09/04/2024 17:40

Hi, ladies! New here :)

Anyone here with scan date 21.11.2023
Have received two letters, one text message. Had one call from them on 15th of March to confirm some information, then saying they'll be back shortly with decision. So far nothing. 20 weeks of waiting already.

Hey,
im 17/11 and they’re still waiting on my daughters National Insurance number.

I’d give them a call to see what’s going on, especially as someone has called you already to confirm info.

Ive only had 1 letter to confirm receipt of the application, no texts.

the wait continues 🤦‍♀️😅 xx

All I have is my word and the school said they would confirm he’s been placed on SEN register, has special circumstances put in place and that he’s been referred for autism diagnosis so assuming they did do that! I’ve asked for proof in writing of all of this to send in and unsure what else I can do! 3 years ago my daughter got lrc and I fought for her and she now gets hrc and hrm because again she is up all night, has food contamination ocd, can’t wash or care for herself (she’s 12) and working on top of no sleep was killing me (still is) but hshe support meant I could drop a few clients and cancel if and when I needed to to sleep. It’s just so draining trying to prove yourself all the time isn’t it? I wouldn’t wish this on my children, I don’t want them to have autism it’s heartbreaking 😢💔 but I need the help xx

Aw I feel awful for you, that wait and then to get a decline. I feel out situation is very similar and I’m not holding out hope for an award.
My son has been diagnosed with anxiety and selective mutism, at school he has to be physically pulled off me each morning by 2 teachers, he puts his fingers down his throat to make himself sick, once he’s taken in school he gets taken straight in to a sensory room they have, because he can’t cope with the classroom environment first thing in the morning, he stays in the sensory room for an hour with his TA until he feels ok to join the rest of the class. He has therapy sessions 3 times a week at school which I have to attend with him. He’s also been referred for an autism assessment. And is now under the school nurse for incontinence. Yet his teacher wouldn’t fill in the section on the form because she said she felt like there wasn’t much she could add to support the claim and if they ring her she’ll say that on the phone to them also. I thought oh great fantastic, so he does all that at school and then I’ve shown them video recordings of him at home and that was what made them do a referral for autism. But wouldn’t help me with the claim.
do they ring everyone’s school? I’m assuming so 😩
wish you good luck for your MR x

MrsRawl · 09/04/2024 22:08

Can I just ask others,
when I filled the form in I was advised it’s best to keep the form short and simple, bullet point style when explaining things but after recent weeks of reading these threads I’m beginning to wonder whether I’ve buggered up doing it like that. And after more research most help online says to be very thorough and include as much detail as possible.
Am I allowed to send in a full statement explaining my sons needs from wake up to sleep time or shall I just leave it now and wait for the decision and go from there. If it’s a decline then do my statement. I only sent in his SALT report with his selective mutism and anxiety diagnosis but none of that explains his routine to get him in to school etc. School aren’t supportive so don’t feel like they will add much help to the form.
thank you ☺️

Matilde08 · 09/04/2024 17:50

Hi :).

No, he's 8 y o.
He's autistic. Going through assessment since 2022 . Has an eating disorder. School helped with claim form, so loads of evidence from school, hospital..etc.. Patiently waiting. It's just strange that after that call they said they should be back shortly now with decision, but still nothing.

If you claim child benefit he will have a NI, if you don't then closer to the time they will request it which will put extra weeks waiting on top, a few on here are way over 20 weeks wait because waiting for NI number

Hi, If you'd of over done it then DM would only skim it anyway so you did right, we all think this way should I have done this or this, the aniexty it causes is so unnecessary isn't it? It's like we second guess ourselves, personally I'd leave it, do that if you have to do the MR xx

MissHavershamReturns · 09/04/2024 22:24

@MrsRawl we sent extra evidence when we put in our application. I would do a one week diary and then send it in.

Yes thank you, that’s also what I’m thinking. Although I have no idea what happens with an MR, do they decline then give you an opportunity to send further info? I did think about it but I’ve briefly explained things and didn’t want to fill it too much because someone said that they barely read anything and skim over it at best. I’ve got a long wait yet but already second guessing everything I’ve wrote but my sons needs gradually get more with more time that passes, so the stress it causes is awful. Why it takes so long I don’t know 😩 xx

Yes thank you, my mum suggested to do a weekly diary. I wondered whether to do that now or send it on if needed for an MR. So hard to know what to do for the best x

MissHavershamReturns · 09/04/2024 22:31

@MrsRawl i would send now. We got extra paperwork from school during the wait period. Then we sent it on to them

MissHavershamReturns · 09/04/2024 22:33

@CornishMama2 we got HRC and LRM for my oldest. For night time we wrote a long explanation of the typical scenario at night for night time needs but we didn’t have any other evidence of those needs because as you have said who else would know? I wouldn’t have thought you have anything to lose trying an MR? Maybe you could call Contact - the charity to see if they have tips for MR
