Would they not have said if an award had been made though? Or let me know if any hold-up? I’m clueless as to whether or not I need to get involved. Do you think I need to ring after this length of time? Or will things sort themselves out if I just wait?

Some will text the outcome but not always. Most likely to see payment in your bank if awarded before you get letter as it can take upto 3 weeks for letter.
More info could be contacting school or dr. Also recently people have been waiting for their childs national insurance number. Also if rejected you can request MR over the phone. If you are starting to worry then do call them even if it puts your mind at rest

Gretty89 · 09/04/2024 17:21

@Summertimego i got told this on the 22nd March. They said it’s with a dm but to wait until 5th May or something like that but I have called again yesterday and told to call again on Friday to check x

Fee89 · 09/04/2024 17:23

@katiewil Hopefully they do call you!

I’m going to ring again tomorrow just to see if there is a problem with my forms with people been awarded for forms sent in January and mine was December see what they tell me

MamaM1506 · 09/04/2024 17:32

@CornishMama2 congratulations! If you think you should do a MR then go for it!
I'm ringing tomorrow morning and being a bit more firm with them

Gretty89 · 09/04/2024 17:33

@Summertimego It’s frustrating waiting this long and then seeing awards being issued with later scan dates 😞 as much as I’m happy for anyone who gets what their child deserves of course ❤️ but on the bright side it must mean we are close - hopefully! x

Gretty89 · 09/04/2024 17:36

@CornishMama2 that’s great you have a decision 😁but if you feel its not right I would definitely do an mr x

Hi, ladies! New here :)

Anyone here with scan date 21.11.2023
Have received two letters, one text message. Had one call from them on 15th of March to confirm some information, then saying they'll be back shortly with decision. So far nothing. 20 weeks of waiting already.

Hi :).

No, he's 8 y o.
He's autistic. Going through assessment since 2022 . Has an eating disorder. School helped with claim form, so loads of evidence from school, hospital..etc.. Patiently waiting. It's just strange that after that call they said they should be back shortly now with decision, but still nothing.

Fingers crossed we get some news in coming days, weeks.
I'm afraid to call them as I have heard they can be a bit annoyed and even rude. I have had two letters and text message that still in process no need to call, so I'm trying to be patient.. but slowly losing that patience :D Assessment to be diagnosed takes ages as well.

GemzZ92 · 09/04/2024 18:01

Heyy....

I posted the forms 23/03 just standard delivery....didnt think to do recorded!
I sent OT report, 2 private speech therapy reports, NHS speech report, schools report for an ASD referal and a copy of his prescriptions. Just wondering if you guys think its enough? I didnt ask school to fill in anything as he is an angel at school but explodes at home. My boy is on SEN register at school due to his speech and he requires extra help with his handwriting- Writing slope/pencil grips and is starting to use a laptop which was recommended by OT. He struggles alot with his fine motor skills....writing, dressing- buttons/zips, cant use a knife and fork.
I put down when we last seen his doctor...but this was about his eatting. We havnt had any appointments with a doctor regarding a referal it has all been through school but when we went regarding his eatting and lack of it i did mention he was awaiting an assessment. I filled in the forms and added 2-3 extra pages going into more depth but i still dont know if i went into enough detail. So stressful....and i know we have such a long wait ahead!

Can I ring up and ask what’s going on people who sent forms in January are getting told if they have been accepted or not yet mine was done December and still not been told anything how can people be finding out before us who did them before them

When I spoke to the woman she said it just sometimes happens if people send in enough evidence etc, or if they get through that pile quicker.

SunflowerMummy · 09/04/2024 17:02

I’m new to DLA, so have no idea of the process. I applied for DLA for my daughter and sent the forms in to them on the 18th December. I had this message yesterday by text:

We are still looking at your DLA1 Child claim. When a decision is made we will confirm it in writing. There is no need to contact us about it.

How long can I expect to wait? I see from other posts that lots of people are ringing them. Is that of any benefit, given that I’ve been told not to contact them? I thought I might have heard something by now!

It was my first time too! I applied for PIP last year as I have osteoarthritis and on the waiting list for a total hip replacement at 29… when I was awarded I got a text to say they still hadn’t made a decision then 24 hours later I was awarded so I got my hopes up yesterday when I saw it said they were still looking at my DLA claim for my daughter… just happens to be a standard text around 15 weeks unfortunately… I rang earlier and got through straight away at 2:30pm I ring everyone rings at 9am…

Not at all, I've called once to check evidence was on and the lady said call whenever you need to and the gentleman I spoke to today said I'll hear between Friday and the 10th of May but to feel free to call as many times as I want. Don't get me wrong I've heard some are cryptic with what they say or be a bit short but that has not been my experience. Tip is to ring at 9am on the dot and use the options 523 once past the language option.

thats probably why it’s taking so long because they are trying to generate an NI number for him, they usually get NI when you claim child benefit when they are born.
do you claim child benefit?xx

Matilde08 · 09/04/2024 18:07

A bit confused about NI number some of you talking.. do they apply for it no matter of their age? Sorry if a bit stupid question. First claim for us here.

Nickij2024 · 09/04/2024 18:09

I’m assuming there’s been lots of leave in the department over the last few weeks if it’s anything like my work. People using the rest of their annual leave up before April and making the most of the bank holidays.
Fingers crossed most of the decision makers are back in work now and we see some real movement on the dates over the next few weeks.
Has anyone on here been awarded from a January scan date yet?
I’m 30/1 so expecting i’ve still got another month or so yet 😭

Oh.. thanks.. you have already answered.
It makes total sense then. Yes, we claim child benefit, but he's not born in UK. Moved here when he was a baby.
