@TiredTilly have u got through to child benefit yet xx

Was on hold for 50mins, then I cut off. I’ll try again tomorrow earlier. I didn’t think there would be such a long wait for child benefit call line 🙁

What did the text say? There’s 2 different texts they send out both sounds like awards but one is usually a decline, but surely either way they could tell you over the phone

They text to let you know it’s a decline? I called today and still no decision. Scan date was 19/12

One text will start “we’ve decided your child has qualified for DLA”

the other will say, “we’ve made a decision on your claim etc”

Ahhh it will be this week 💓

I bloody hope so! Gonna try hold off calling this week try again next Monday if I've not heard anything. I'm at the Dr tomorrow morning so won't ring then, but gonna have to sit on my hands weds lol how are you getting on, have you bothered calling?

Bossofthehouse · 08/04/2024 18:43

Nickij2024 · 08/04/2024 16:31

I Just called to double check they received my evidence as the person I spoke to last week seemed too confused and didn’t fill me with confidence.
Whilst on the phone I asked if I could receive a text once a decision is made and she said they don’t do that. Obviously they do as I’ve seen plenty of people on here receive them but she was adamant they don’t and that I had been advised incorrectly. Frustrating to say the least.

Some DM don’t have the text system, that’s what I was told last time anyway 😵‍💫

Momtotwobeautifulkids · 08/04/2024 19:04

@Emmajm85 how long do you wait on hold for child benefit. It’s been ages for me it’s like dla call line 😩

Ohh it’s a long wait there too. I was about an hour on hold when I called this morning. Did you find out if they’ve got your form? Xx

Summerrp · 08/04/2024 19:55

Scan 06.02 received a letter today apologising that they haven't reached decision yet and no need to ring.

I'm guessing this is a standard letter all recieve at this stage?

Summertimego · 08/04/2024 20:06

Scan date 28th December

rang last week and says with DM but if not heard anything by 16th may to ring back

I'm 18/12 so 16 weeks today
All I've had was a letter on 05/02 saying don't worry we're still looking at your claim, and a text last Wednesday saying basically the same

Why such long waits… they need more call handlers😕
I didn’t get through I was on hold for 50mins then I cut off it was just too long x

Anxiouslywaitingmum · 08/04/2024 21:15

Realistically how often would you phone for a update? Although I know you never get the truth.
I'm only 13 weeks but seeing January dates being awarded makes me feel nervous.

This is so interesting. I got HRC and LRM for a sibling last summer and didn’t get either text

Still waiting 19/12

I rang about about 5 days before getting approved and requested they send me a text and they put a note on the system so it might just be that..

I know! Think of all the time we’ve wasted on the phone to them and DLA 😅🙈
try first thing when they open at 8am, you’ll get through quicker then 💕 xx

Hi does anyone no if u get mrc will you get more houseing element toward your rent I read online you get more just want to know if this has bin the case for anyone?

Hiya. I’ve been a Housing Benefits assessment officer for 10 years now and the housing element of UC is very similar.

You don’t automatically get an increased housing allowance just because of a DLA award however, if your child’s disability means they can’t share a room, you can apply for the ‘additional room rate’.

This can increase your housing element.
If you’re in social housing it can only be increased if you currently have the under occupancy charge)

If you are in private rented it can only be increased if you are receiving below the maximum LHA rate which for my area is 4 bedrooms. For example if you are currently deemed as needing a 3 bedroom house based on your household composition you will only receive the 3 bed LHA rate.
If you are then deemed to need an extra room as your child’s disability means they are unable to share, it will increase your LHA rate to 4 bed. All authority’s have their own separate LHA rates but the difference in my area is about £30 per week so definitely worth it.

You would need to put a request in for it and provide an explanation and evidence as to why your child is unable to share a bedroom.

I hope that helps and isn’t too confusing 😊

Thank you so much I am in a 3 bed house and only get houseing element for 2 bed house it is with a private landlord, I will definitely will ask for it to go up to 3 bedroom as my daughter can not share she wakes in the night due to her anxiety and autism and will wake her brother up. Thank you
