Oh really I haven’t heard anyone get a decision so quickly and I’ve been following these threads for quite some time? I got a message on 25th march saying it’s with a DM and still waiting for a decision x

My claim was sent to dm on the Monday and got decision same day. Everyone's claim is different, some claims may need more information.x

Emzi538 · 03/04/2024 09:44

So I called them, got through to a rude man, he told me that it's a minimum now of 20 weeks and if people call before they won't even get through security! Why don't they state this on the letters!!! He refused to even check my sons claim.

HG95 · 03/04/2024 09:44

Just rang for an update they’re back to just counting by weeks and not actually giving any info 😫

Taffylass72 · 03/04/2024 09:45

Just got off the phone, unfortunately my DD claim still pending, and they are saying they need more evidence! I have sent every bit of evidence regarding my child’s behavioural issues, letters from doctors, schools and her recent letters and medical records confirming her cancer diagnoses… what the heck else am I meant to send 😭

Bossofthehouse · 03/04/2024 09:45

I noticed last time we waited for a decision that the claim piles are given to the DM Wednesday to Tuesday that’s why some are awarded in a day and some take longer. Does anyone know when it’s time for renewal do we have to do this whole form again?

Kirstygingee · 03/04/2024 09:47

Lodol · 03/04/2024 09:47

I have just rang, got straight through!
scan date 27/12 she immediately said it’s taking 20 weeks for a decision. She said it’s been assigned to a DM but isn’t being looked at yet… does anyone know what this means?

Emzi538 · 03/04/2024 09:48

So I was narky back and asked why letters state 15 weeks then! He hung up lol

This is disgusting!! 😡
I’d be making an appointment with your local MP and asking for their help with this, and also logging a formal complaint.
so sorry they’re doing this to you. This benefit is supposed to be there to help, and it’s doing the complete opposite for you at the moment 😔 xx

I don’t have a lot of spare time to do anything at the moment, but I’ve had no choice in trying to chase this up as financially I’m struggling really bad at the moment, I’m a single mum with no help from her father, I also have 2 other children and we are due to travel from wales up to Birmingham for surgery soon! I just can’t get my head around it all, complaint after complaint and I’m getting nowhere🤷🏻‍♀️ does anybody have any advice? Xx

I called at 9 this morning, the man I spoke to told me it's not even been looked at yet and didn't know when it was due to be, was very short and blunt, so when he hung up I immediately redialled (😬) and got through to a lovely lady who couldn't have been more helpful, Scan date was 7/12,
Decision was made on the 30th for MRC untill 6th December 2025,
So happy as was certain it was a decline,
I can now get my daughter the private counselling she desperately needs!
Can anyone advise me how I can claim the carers element on UC?
I've got my fingers crossed for everyone still waiting to hear 🤞🤞 xx

Yeyyyy ur wait is finally over you need to put in a claim for carers allowence before you can get carers element.

Summerrabbit · 03/04/2024 09:59

@Taffylass72, would Macmillan be able to support you? I am living with cancer & was declined initially for PIP but then a local benefits advisor from Macmillan did the form for me & I got awarded. Sadly it seems they question a lot in terms of cancer diagnosis which is crazy. As if having cancer isn’t stressful enough!

bingoringo4 · 03/04/2024 10:00

Im a pro with pip as dealt with them in my work but seems dla is harder work. 1st port of contact is asking to speak to a manager. Write letter of complaint from you and your childs consultant. If you have a cancer nurse that is in reg contact ask them to also write a letter, you can also ask the school to write a complaint letter, id also ask a family member to write a statement on how the stress is effecting you day to day. And contact your local mp and title the email as 'urgent child cancer help' x

Summerrabbit · 03/04/2024 10:01

PS. It was the Macmillan nurse that made the referral to the Macmillan benefits advisor. Not sure how it works with children. I’m so sorry they are asking for more information when you’ve sent them so much. You’ve got so much on your plate too. It’s really not fair!

Tax credits are usually pretty quick. Do you have the hmrc app? You can see future payments on there x

Thank you for offering advice, I’m unsure if they can help me any more than my daughters oncologist has unfortunately, I sat with her consultant and our charity social worker and did the letter to send in as evidence, we outlined her treatment, symptoms and all of the effects her illness and her treatment has on her including dates etc, the only thing we didn’t include was a date for surgery to remove her tumour as we don’t yet have a specific date🤷🏻‍♀️ I literally can not even come up with one more thing of what they would want to see, is it at the point they want to see her scans and biopsy results? There’s just no end xx

Mumof5asd · 03/04/2024 10:04

@Fee89 no I don't is it easy to set up?
