Yeah I was thinking the same . Thank you for your reply. Does anyone know if I can appeal the mobility does that mean they will only look at that component or will they look at the whole award ? Son really struggles with moving around don’t know why he was never awarded he is only 3 .
just glad it’s over tbh at the minute .

Children are only eligible for low-rate mobility after the age of five. Children are eligible for high-rate mobility from three, but the criteria is very strict, plus I think the child also needs to be in receipt of high-rate care.

Also an appeal will look at the whole award.

mrsclarke89 · 02/04/2024 16:13

@Shabutie hes 3 so might be why but with the evidence to highlight extra care it clearly demonstrated hes not a normal 3 year old. X

My DD is 3.5 with GDD diagnosed and likely autism and learning difficulties. She is non verbal with no spoken words and limited understanding, so her care needs are full on...makes me nervous for my DD claim.

Please don't lose sight on the end goal, the whole process will be worth it, you know how much you care for your child and the needs they have, which is hard to convey on paper ❤

GemzZ92 · 02/04/2024 21:45

Hello...new here

I posted the forms off 23/03
Will i recieve a letter/text to say when they revieved them?

Thanks x

MissHavershamReturns · 02/04/2024 21:48

@GemzZ92 if you claimed child benefit for your dc you are likely to. I did for oldest dc. Youngest dc we had never claimed child benefit. We heard literally nothing for two months.

Thankyou. Hopefully will hear from them soon to say theyve recieved them then!
From what ive been reading on here they dont rush things 🙄 Cant believe how long they leave people waiting.

Tinxy · 02/04/2024 22:18

My scan date was 20/02/24. Received a letter stating that they are looking into the dla claim. Please can anyone tell me how long I should expect to wait before I hear anything? This is all new to me,

Bossofthehouse · 02/04/2024 22:44

@Tinxy its looking about 16weeks, some people are waiting abit longer for national insurance numbers to come through or replies from schools if the DM has requested it

Thewondererhasreturned · 02/04/2024 22:47

@Tinxy did you receive a text and a letter? I received a text on 7/3 saying they have received my claim but that I dont need to contact them unless I'm providing more evidence. Should I assume that's my scan date then? Sorry not sure of the process but from reading the forum its looking like 16-18 weeks wait for most

Tinxy · 02/04/2024 22:49

@Bossofthehouse so go from date they received the forms rather than when I phoned to ask for the forms to put in a claim?

I received just a letter through post no text message. I am new to this but I would like to think that 7/3 would be your scan date. Maybe others can clarify.

Bossofthehouse · 02/04/2024 22:54

@Tinxy yes go from your scan date on the letter but when they back date money it should be to when you called for the forms
@Thewondererhasreturned when did you post your form

I’ve never seen someone be awarded that quick 😂 it’s probably someone trying to annoy us all while we wait for so long or maybe a special circumstances claim

😂😂😂 ah yes, didn’t think of special circumstances. Either way, it’s very quick 💨 😂

Scan date 26/1

Received second letter today to apologise for the delay, and it is taking up to 15 weeks for a decision. No texts as of yet. Just 2 letters to date

Same scan date as me. I've had 1 letter and no texts so far. We'll be coming up to 10 weeks on Friday, hopefully won't be much longer 🤞🏻

Thewondererhasreturned · 02/04/2024 23:25

@Bossofthehouse think I posted it about 29/2 next day delivery. I'm from NI so not sure if its different over here. Looks like I have a lengthy wait ahead

It took about a month to receive my letter with scan date on it but I never received a text to say they’ve received it, I would give them a call to ask what your scan date is so you know roughly when your likely going to hear something from them, they could possibly differ on the way they contact you in NI

MrsRawl · 02/04/2024 23:44

Nickij2024 · 02/04/2024 13:28

I hope no one minds me asking but are you claiming for behavioural or physical issues?

If behavioural such as autism, has your little one got a formal diagnosis? I’ve seen people without a diagnosis be awarded and I’ve also seen people with a diagnosis be refused. I know lots of factors come into this but there doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to it all.

My DD is 9 and has a formal diagnosis but the only evidence I have is her autism report. The report does include comments from the school but it also includes that she masks at school which is quite typical for girls. I’m nervous that they will contact the school and the school will say she doesn’t need too much support which isn’t completely untrue but that’s because she keeps it all in and blows up at home after school. She also has sensory issues, social issues, toileting issues, obsessive behaviours and routines and is an unable to share or manage her emotions. This is all detailed in her report but it’s just so stressful knowing that a decision is made based on what is on paper. It’s so hard to explain just how much support our children need and that a decision is in the hands of someone with no medical knowledge.

This is my worry, we’ve got a while yet as scan date 9/2. My son is 5 and has selective mutism diagnosed, but because he’s completely mute at school he therefore masks very well, he is on the asd pathway but I’ve not had a letter or anything to confirm that yet so can’t send that on as evidence. All I sent was the SALT report which was quite detailed as contained an assessment she did of my son at school. I didn’t get school to fill any bits in because they have been terrible since my son started there and not supportive whatsoever. It was only after me getting video recordings of my son at home that they agreed to do the autism referral. He is so different at home to what he is at school. So it’s basically all my word on the form. My worry is that I kept my form very basic ( that was advice from a friend ) she said try and do it more bullet point style as they don’t have time to read lots of detailed information, but now I’m kicking myself because I’ve not fully explained and gone in to detail how my day goes at home with him. From having to start waking him up at 6am for school until he goes to bed which can be 11pm most nights. Even when I read the form back myself ( I photocopied it prior to sending ) I just read it and automatically know that they’ll think oh he’s just a typical child. So I know I’ll be waiting all this time for nothing then when I do an MR I’ll have to do a detailed explanation ( if that’s what you can do )
yet another mum at my sons school got awarded mrc and lrm for her son for suspected autism, she had no one fill any bits of the form in, she had no evidence to send: it was just her word and she just put he was awaiting autism diagnosis, even though it shouting go off diagnosis. She said herself she barely wrote anything on the form. And she was awarded for 3 years.
id love them to spend a night in my house with my 5 year old 😂

Hi can anyone help? I'm just filling in dd's form now and the part it asks about gp, I've filled it in but it asks when was the last time they saw gp about their condition/disability and asks for a date. Dd has never seen her gp about this because its adhd and the school referred her. What date do I put in? Thanks

I left the date part blank but filled the rest of the GP details, as my DD had never been to the GP either, only for jabs.

HV referred her to peadiatrician/SALT. Infact when I did ring the GP once for help with a referral to the ND team as I wasn't getting anywhere, they said I'd need to go back to who made the referral. So no help from the GP.

If your super worried you could add on the extra info part - no date given as GP not involved.
There are other questions that ask about professionals involved, so you can cover why the GP isn't involved through those.

I will say I'm still waiting to hear on DD claim.

I just received notification of a payment from dla. My scan date was 3/7 however I assume will be backdated until 29/1 when I received the form? Im based in NI. No idea what the entitlement is for its 544 going to ring in the morning and find out what it works out as. I hope things speed up for everyone some of the wait times being reported are ridiculous 🙏 our children will get what they deserve. Really hoping things start moving for you all
