@MrsRawl I have two kids who are neorodivergent. Dc 1 has ASD and got awarded HRC and LRM, with a diagnosis and professional reports. He melts down a lot in school, so they filled in the supporting bit saying how much help he needs which was a LOT.

We were advised to do an account of a typical night with ds 1 and send it in - we covered the following: extremely rigid bedtime routine which takes 2 hours including getting undressed, bath, reading story, reading alone, light off and has to be done in the same way each day, needing to re enter bedroom multiple times, needing to sit with him to get him asleep, often for two further hours, waking v very early, which can be at 4 or 5 am. You could complete a diary for a week of nights and send in as extra evidence?

I just sent my form off for DC 2. No award yet. Dc 2 is un dx with asd and is a masker at school. We have two reports from hcps for him and sent that in. My best guess is LRC, LRM if we get awarded, but he should really get MRC as he needs a lot of extra help.

This is my worry, we’ve got a while yet as scan date 9/2. My son is 5 and has selective mutism diagnosed, but because he’s completely mute at school he therefore masks very well, he is on the asd pathway but I’ve not had a letter or anything to confirm that yet so can’t send that on as evidence. All I sent was the SALT report which was quite detailed as contained an assessment she did of my son at school. I didn’t get school to fill any bits in because they have been terrible since my son started there and not supportive whatsoever. It was only after me getting video recordings of my son at home that they agreed to do the autism referral. He is so different at home to what he is at school. So it’s basically all my word on the form. My worry is that I kept my form very basic ( that was advice from a friend ) she said try and do it more bullet point style as they don’t have time to read lots of detailed information, but now I’m kicking myself because I’ve not fully explained and gone in to detail how my day goes at home with him. From having to start waking him up at 6am for school until he goes to bed which can be 11pm most nights. Even when I read the form back myself ( I photocopied it prior to sending ) I just read it and automatically know that they’ll think oh he’s just a typical child. So I know I’ll be waiting all this time for nothing then when I do an MR I’ll have to do a detailed explanation ( if that’s what you can do )
yet another mum at my sons school got awarded mrc and lrm for her son for suspected autism, she had no one fill any bits of the form in, she had no evidence to send: it was just her word and she just put he was awaiting autism diagnosis, even though it shouting go off diagnosis. She said herself she barely wrote anything on the form. And she was awarded for 3 years.
id love them to spend a night in my house with my 5 year old 😂

You have plenty of time to send in extra evidence explaining your child's needs, what are you hoping for? Night time care is from 11pm-7am and they want in detail extra care needs during that period.
Just send off a typed up letter explaining more if you think you have missed stuff out from the form, you can never send of too much but you can send of too little that's how I see it as.

I just received notification of a payment from dla. My scan date was 3/7 however I assume will be backdated until 29/1 when I received the form? Im based in NI. No idea what the entitlement is for its 544 going to ring in the morning and find out what it works out as. I hope things speed up for everyone some of the wait times being reported are ridiculous 🙏 our children will get what they deserve. Really hoping things start moving for you all

I think its middle care rate. You are the quickest iv seen them do. Congratulations x

rjnicola · 03/04/2024 07:35

How long does it take to receive decision letter when you have been awarded please ?

NotChained · 03/04/2024 07:58

Been lurking on this for a week or so now. Got the text last week, scan date 18/12 woke up to £1520 in bank. Didn't ring up. Good luck all!

Thewondererhasreturned · 03/04/2024 08:03

@fee89 do you know what age they get mobility from? My dc is 3 so not sure if they qualify for that even although I filled it in. I think its just running a bit quicker over here. Hope you all hear news soon. Its bittersweet hes awaiting assessment for asd/i think likely adhd and has chronic severe eczema its been a long journey and doesn't seem to get easier. I hope with a diagnosis he will get the right support

Emzi538 · 03/04/2024 08:14

Hey!
Scan date 17/01/24
So 11 weeks today! I have tried to call them however lines mega busy, my q is.. realistically how much longer is the wait? And does everyone get the generic auto voice on that call saying a decision letter will be sent by the end of April?

I think they are saying it can take 15 weeks or more to hear but some people have got to over 20 weeks! I also got that message when I called up, I think everyone does but at first I thought it was based on my number (then remembered I was calling from a landline not relayed to the application!)

Thank you!
I did his brothers renewal last year and only took 7 weeks to get processed.. maybe the letters they send should state a realistic date.. I only had the confirmation of receipt of forms and one end feb saying sorry for delay... grrr

good morning all!

woke up no this morning still no news :-

requested forms 04/10
sent forms off 08/11
scan date 23/11

They told me yesterday on the proper number to wait until next Tuesday but I’m starting to feel really impatient now! Not waiting for NI and all evidence has been submitted, I had a text from DM last week who left her number for me to call back on that day (which I did) do you think its weird if I call that number again today to ask for an update instead of the regular number ? 🤷🏻‍♀️🙏 xx

I think mobility is either 3 or 5 im not totally sure. My eldest got dla for asd/adhd/anxiety and tourettes. She was awarded middle and low mobility she is now on pip and gets highest on both. Im currently waiting on youngest claim x

@Emzi538 That auto message is regarding the new rates from April, its caused alot of confusion for people x

Fee89 · 03/04/2024 08:26

No way should it effect your claim. If she questions just state lack of sleep and clicked wrong number on your log x

Awww 🥺 feel in my heart for you. Call bang on 9. You deserve an answer. Let us know how you get on. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞 xxx

Fee89 · 03/04/2024 08:38

For adhd we found coffee worked for our daughter.....the brain is backwards so where people use it to stay awake some children with adhd it can make them sleepy and chilled.

@Taffylass72 Screw an excuse, you have every right to call whichever way possible, this shouldnt even be a concern for you. I get so many people apply but certain cases should be flagged right away x
