@Sharniexxx7 it's so ridiculous isn't it, mine got sent to DM on 8th to decide how much the backpay will be but they just keep telling me to wait it out. Argh not fair they put us through so much stress x

Mine has finally been sorted after four weeks waiting! Back pay is due on Tuesday 20th. One of my elements was waiting to be approved for late reporting but the other had already been done so I asked for one to backpaid while waiting for the other to be approved and then the next day it was approved! So I’m unsure it that was coincidence or if it was because I asked for one to be backpaid while waiting on the other. Good luck it shouldn’t be too much longer now.

@tiredmum1989 omg 4 weeks!!! That's so bad. I've had both elements added onto this month's, but due 4 months backdated of both elements. I don't no if any have been approved yet, how did u find out one had and one hadn't? Xx

How long have you waited for the calculation of back pay once you get the we accept the late reporting letters? X

They send you a letter (not a physical one but attached to a message on your journal) when each element is approved for backpay. The carer element came back same day but disabled child element took four weeks! I kept nagging but they just kept saying there’s no time frame. They said they’d wait for both to be approved so they could pay backpay as a lump sum but I got fed up of waiting and asked for one to paid while I was waiting for the other because four weeks is ridiculous!

Once both letters were back (Thursday) I got the letter showing what I was owed the same day and then the pay is due Tuesday. I guess the weekend got in the way of that so probably only 3 days really.

I got both letters back yesterday. They tried to say I'm not entitled to any backpay from the carers element due to earnings which is fine I get that but they tried to bypass the disabled element im sure I will be owed something as it's £456 a month! I've been on the calculators and there is an entitlement based on our highest earnings. Robdogs they are! X

That’s weird because I thought carer element was just part of your UC entitlement but carers allowance is only if your pay is less than £139/week. I’m not convinced my back pay is right either tbh but my brain is fried from kids being on half term so it’ll have to wait until next week when I get a minute to do the maths!

Just a wondering but has anyone got backpay on just tax credits (still havent moved to UC yet 🙈) im still waiting on a decision 10/11 , but thought id see if anyone had gor future reference xx

found out why I’ve not heard anything yet…
got a letter this morn asking why my letter wasn’t returned by the 11th oct and instead they got it on 16th oct… so I think it must be with a dm with a decision made and they are waiting for me to return the letter so decide if they will backdate it to 30th aug when I called or just do it from 16th oct when they scanned it….. have put it in the post straight away so we’ll see how long it takes to hear something back!!

When my older child was awarded DLA ( took 6 months) I was still getting tax credits through hmrc and I was backdated the 6 months with them. I had to call them to let them no my son gets DLA now though. It wasn't automatic. They will backdate to when DLA is awarded from

Hi new here I claim lcwra with my uc and look after my 2 grandchildren can I claim the child disability element aswell or is it one or the other, I do not want to claim carers element thanks in advance

I am waiting for a decision, it was scanned 28th Nov. Think they are taking the longest to be honest. I don't think will hear before prob may time!

@lillyT83 mines been with DM for over a week. Was told Thursday morning I should have a decision any day. Hopefully it’s not too much longer for either of us!🤞

@Dukseysnana hey yes I receive LCWRA and receive dla and get child element so you are entitled to it but again we do not qualify for the carers you will only get the disabled child element if in receipt of DLA for
one or both of the children hope this helps x

Thank you. No no missed call so looks like they’ve awarded based on evidence sent and the form only. Surely it can’t be a decline or they wouldn’t bother asking why the form was sent back late? X

Will keep you posted when I hear back they just want to keep the award at 0 so they don't need to pay the 2 x COL 😂 x

Hi! Does anyone have any info on wait times for renewals? Is it the same as new claims? I posted back the renewal forms mid November x

@Sallyt7110 i wonder why they wasted time sending out a letter instead of calling. Mind you, not much makes sense with this whole process.

I doubt they’d waste time sending out a letter and waiting for it to come back just to decline it. They wouldn’t care if it was late or not.

They might tell you if you call next week.
